Blazers in trade talks (including Bulls) with Rudy Fernandez
The Portland Trail Blazers continue to have discussions with several teams about reserve guard Rudy Fernandez, who has fallen out of favor with Coach Nate McMillan and has been seeking a trade for almost a year. The most serious suitors at the moment are the Toronto Raptors and Houston Rockets, with Toronto offering its first-round pick, the 13th pick overall, as part of a package.
Chicago and Washington have also expressed interest in Fernandez, 25, who was acquired from Phoenix in 2007 on Draft night and signed with Portland the following summer. The Bulls would like to move their first-round pick, 17th overall, for Fernandez.
The Bulls could offer James Johnson, but they do not need to offer anyone: they have a trade exception from the Tyrus Thomas deal.

Has JJ really gotten to that point?
Or are you just saying that because we could get a little space out of it?
He may not be married, but he's got plenty of Thibo-hoes.

No
I want him off the Bulls as soon as possible. I don’t care if he lost weight or not. He’s just not good.

what makes you think Fernandez is any better?

Agreed... Fernandes has purpose on a basketball court
Johnson, sadly, does not.

JJ is at worst a rotation player..
It’s not like he’s Joe Alexander or Pargo out there.

I agree
I think Rudy Fernandez is better than any of the guards we can get at 17 unless someone falls and he clearly fills a need so I’m all for it

So what
His contract is really inexpensive. If we could get him for a trade exception that would be awesome.
He’s really a SG. He just gets forced into the SF because of Roy.

I smell pritchard BS.
There is no way they turned down the 13th pick. Let’s take a step back. This is a player who’s done nothing but bitch and moan in the media about playing time, but when Roy was hurt, he played terribly. He’s a “shooting” guard who shot 37% from three and 38% from the field. Now he’s been yapping – again! – about going back to Spain.
I’d have mixed feelings about getting him. He has real talent, and would be an excellent fit with Derrick, as we’ve all discussed. But in this last year, he showed a real diva side: one which does not fly with our city, players, or no-bullshit coach.
I think this is more “yeah, we turned down the 4th pick in the draft for Nic Batum” bullshit. Funny how all these rumors end up overvaluing the Blazer’s players. But now it’s really gotten old. Sure: drive up the value of players in the media, shift the market, look like a genius, then lose in the first round.

Agreed, Batum would've
been on the 1st thing smoking for the 4th pick.

When is the last time we used a trade exception?
