Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Pargo named to Hollinger's "All-Chucker" team

Glad we're not the only ones who are noticing.

Before we start, a few caveats: First of all, I didn't pick on players who are having unusually poor shooting seasons taking the shots they normally take (Rodney Stuckey and Kirk Hinrich, for instance) -- that's not the idea here. Second, I cut some slack for players on bad offensive teams. Stuckey and Richard Hamilton have ridiculously high usage rates, for instance, but that's in part because they play with three non-scorers around them most of the time -- somebody has to shoot the thing.

While many of the names should be obvious, a few have escaped attention this season. Without further ado, here are 15 players we'd like to see show a whole lot more discretion offensively:

...

Jannero Pargo, Bulls
People don't lump Pargo into conversations like this because he's a deep reserve, and because he's generally a good dude. But when it comes to jacking indiscriminately he has few peers, despite a jumper that's somewhere south of deadly. Pargo's TS% is a shockingly bad 43.4, the seventh-worst mark in basketball this season, but he's still firing away. Only one other player in the TS% bottom 25 (Bobby Brown) fires this indiscriminately, and Brown hardly plays; Pargo is a rotation player for a playoff contender. Let's hope he tones it down a little with the long J's off the dribble.

I was just looking at that wondering

if it had Pargo on it. Sadly, Vinny doesn’t seem to notice.

Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."

Al Harrington always wanted to be a Bull,

he wanted to come here when Antonio Davis was on the squad, I miss AD

I agreed with eername on that list especially Ariza. That dude has been chucking since game 1 this year.

by C Smoove on Apr 8, 2010 1:54 PM CDT reply actions

I thought the Rockets

pretty much Jerome James him, he is a good defender, but can’t shoot worth a shit, they let the finals fool them, just like Jerome fooled Isiah, but Ariza won’t be the stiff James was.

in all fairness

Monta Ellis > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > (continued forever) Pargo

it can't actually continue forever

there isn’t enough space on the internet

by Protocol on Apr 8, 2010 4:36 PM CDT up reply actions

true

but that’s not because there isn’t enough space on the internet to continue forever (there isn’t), but because there isn’t enough space on the internet to quantify Pargo’s shittiness.

Hollinger is wrong. Dead-wrong.

Hinrich is having the same shitty season he has had the past three seasons. Whatever, at least Hinrich still gets respect league-wide. It could only help his trade value.

by LoveForTheGame on Apr 8, 2010 5:05 PM CDT reply actions

Even if you think hinrich is a terrible player, how the hell do you justify calling him a chucker?

Mos hinrich haters seem to think he’s too timid to shoot. You can’t have it both ways.

Brad Miller is god.

i think he is taking issue with this statement

I didn’t pick on players who are having unusually poor shooting seasons

by Basketball Smurf on Apr 8, 2010 6:10 PM CDT up reply actions

That was my point

I would never put Hinrich in that chucker category because I have never considered him a selfish player (even though I do remember him trying to outperform BG a few times, hah). Hollinger just made it sound like it was having an UNUSUALLY bad season for him, yet he’s been playing the same way he’s always. Hinrich is shooting 40% this year, career total: 41%. He’s the same player. That 06-07 “dream” season by him surely lifted up that career total FG % also.

I find it odd that it put Tyreke on that list considering that he is on the Kings who have absolutely no one and he is the reason for them at least winning games and remaining competitive for the first half of the season. The Kings were supposed to be the worst team by a longshot this year. Tyreke is the reason for their success, plus he’s a ROOKIE.

by LoveForTheGame on Apr 8, 2010 6:27 PM CDT up reply actions

i thought it was weird too

but i don’t have insider so i could read his explanation.

by Basketball Smurf on Apr 8, 2010 10:18 PM CDT up reply actions

Tyreeeeeeke
Evans plays point guard much of the time and thus has a decent assist ratio, but that masks his major weakness as a playmaker: He thinks sequentially. As in, “First, I’ll look for my shot; only when I am cut off, I’ll look to see what’s going on around me.” As a result he might be one of the most frustrating teammates in the league.

He’s one of a handful of players with a TS% under 53 and a usage rate above 25, but the visual is what really puts him over the top — the idea of involving people just for the sake of their participation in the offense seems completely foreign to him. Too many times he’s passing only as a last resort.

i'll take this with a grain of salt

Hollinger once claimed Rose was too selfish and needed to stop his Steve Francis impression.

by Basketball Smurf on Apr 8, 2010 10:50 PM CDT up reply actions   1 recs

For sure, Tyreke may not end up being a true point guard, but we'll have to wait and see (kind of has Wade's game)

Honestly, I haven’t watched many of his games, but he seems like a beast. The Kings certainly has some solid, young players around him as well with Casspi, Landry, Thompson, Hawes, and Garcia. Plus tons of cap space. They must be banging their heads for taking on Nocioni though. We robbed them.

by LoveForTheGame on Apr 8, 2010 11:07 PM CDT up reply actions

and what Hinrich haters think he is too timid to shoot?

I very, very rarely want to see that guy shoot unless he’s open for a three or something just because it’s like a party in my pants everytime a Bull’s player hits a three-it happens so rarely. I don’t even trust that guy with layups and there’s plenty of evidence why.

by LoveForTheGame on Apr 8, 2010 6:34 PM CDT up reply actions   1 recs

Thats why

I usually take him out when he misses 3 shots. And put Flip in to hit clutch shots. Then again I hit 3s with Rose when he’s open (like grand canyon) open.
