Around SBN: NFL Owners Vote to Change Trade Deadline

Bulls 96, Bobcats 88

Since yfBB can't get something posted tonight and the other thread got so long, here's a very mini-recap.

Bulls played really well for most of the game, and in light of the win let's all just ignore that little stretch of crap around the start of the 4th, OK?  Really great game for the starters, collectively, shooting 52.2% and all in double figure scoring.  Of note, a season high scoring night for Kirk, and double-doubles for both Taj and Joakim.

With Toronto winning earlier, in spite of its best efforts to give the game away (and thanks a lot there, Philly!), this one was big.  One last note - nice to see Tyrus play well and Larry Hughes play like crap.

latest out of Milwaukee

is that Bogut dislocation might not be as bad as it looked. I read “slight dislocation”.. could potentially just be a few weeks.

by juicewolta on Apr 3, 2010 9:42 PM CDT reply actions

Good fro Milwaukee

I don’t have anything against their team, I actually still kinda like Skiles. As long as Bogut’s out on Tuesday, this team could use a break like that (no pun intended)

If you're reading this signature, there's a good chance you don't like Vinny Del Negro.

I can't wish Skiles bad

He did good things with the team while he was here. And it’s kind of awesome to see them with this turn around after everyone wrote the Bucks off without Redd.

You're probably right

This blog loves the Tyrus. My thoughts on the Tyrus trade is this: I really don’t care that much. He was not going to be signed in the summer, so we would’ve lost him anyways. But he would’ve definitely helped us with a playoff run. Our defense has clearly tailed off a bit ever since he left.

I want that debate to die. Tyrus is gone and Taj is here. Tonight I actually watched Tyrus and rooted against him for the first time since the trade. I’m just tired of the whole back and forth on it. I like Taj, he’s playing much better, let’s just leave it at that.

Well as much as i wanna admit the playoff chase is over, i can't

Two of the Bulls toughest games were the Cavs and Bucks.

With Cleveland clinching by then, we’ll be playin their B team and with Bogut out, that’s a very winnable game.

And with Toronto barely pulling out wins against the Wizards and Sixers, you can just see the difference in teams when starters play.

I’m fairly confident, I am … I wanna be. I think.

by Option27 on Apr 3, 2010 10:02 PM CDT via mobile reply actions

I'm still skeptical on the Cavs right now

It would’ve been nice if the Cavs and Raptors games were flip flopped so we could play Cleveland that last week when I KNOW guys will be resting. We play them this Thursday so I’m not feeling as good about Lebron resting quite yet.

9) Robert Pack
8) Derrick Rose
7) Allen Iverson
6) Russell Westbrook
5) Kenny Smith

Derrick's already got two dunks(Dragic and against the Hawks)

better than any of those guys on that list ever had, except for KJ bamming on Olajuwan. Webb, Robinson and Iverson never really posterized anybody, they were just little guys who occasionally got up. I’d say that when it’s all said and done, Derrick, Westbrook, Francis and KJ has the best in-game dunks.

We’ve all seen Derrick do his thing, but check this Westbrook dunk.

Metal sharpens metal.

Yea, that's exactly what I mean

there’s no wow factor with Westbrook. Maybe it’s because he looks more like a shooting guard, so it looks like he’s not up as high idk. But whenever I see Rose dunk my jaw just drops and I usually have to rewind it 10 times. Most of the time he’s straight Karate chopping the rim. It’s the combo of hops and power that makes his dunks so filthy

which is probably the trickiest part of it….

eh, i just want the game cuz i watched the first half, and i liked what was happening, and the second half i ended up completely missing due to work, and i think that was the better half, because the game was alot closer (or rather we were actually losing) and its one of those rare games where hinrich is a huge factor undoubtedly, not sure how many times he could repeat such performances (as a bull no less), that coupled with all the highlight materials, noahs dunks, tajs blocks, anythign rose does, and its just a game i really want, sadly though i dont think anyone is going to be uploading the game….

I know that if u could u probably would, but im pretty sure ud need a special wire or something to tranfer and just the though of figuring it out seems like more trouble than its worth, but thanks for at least responding….

The bulls have 6 games left and must keep winning. The only game that worry me is the cavs game, the rest the bulls can win.

by Jermal on Apr 3, 2010 11:54 PM CDT reply actions

This is one of the reason why noah is a bull and tyrus isn't

Noah is a smarter basketball player and knows his role on a team, but tyrus still doesn’t or will always be clueless on how to play team basketball and smart basketball.

by Jermal on Apr 4, 2010 12:38 AM CDT up reply actions

i think its just a difference of a drive

noah wants to win, and wanted to be good, no matter what anyone else does (or in this case doesnt) do for him. Tyrus probably wanted to win and wanted to be good too (who doesnt?…oh larry hughes) but unlike noah he really needed direction due to his rawness (noah played ball as a kid, and probably had less athleticism to rely on, whereas tyrus was probably always an athletic freak who found good use once in college) tyrus has the potential to be great, but he needs direction and guidance and he never got it, noah probably got just as much help but had more of a desire to find the answers himself. It sucks that the organizations way of helping out players with potential is to put them in dire situations and work their way out of it, but i can at the very least understand the philosophy…i think thats what they did with rose,..prove to us ure a star, were gonna take away everything that could help u on this team, a real coach, real plays, real players, and lets see if u can win, if u win, ure a star, if u lose, ure a bust…now go…

I do agree that bulls management and staff isn't the greatest teachers and don't give you time to learn

Either you show that you are good and improve each year or your not on the bulls team.(unless your last name is hinrich)

The thing people forget about Noah...

He is a second generation professional athlete…the mentoring from father to son is invaluable in learning how to work hard to succeed at this level…

Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.

Isn't it amazing...

…how awesome point differential is in determining relative success?

Don’t sleep on San Antonio this Spring.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

by tyger1147 on Apr 4, 2010 9:16 AM CDT reply actions

Especially not with Manu playing out of his mind and healthy at the end of the year for the first time in a couple years.

I keep saying this, but it bears repeating, if the Bulls are targeting a SG and can’t land Wade, Manu, not JJ, should be the target. He’s better than JJ and will command fewer years, because he’ll be retiring in probably 3 years.

Kirk Hinrich sucks. The end.

by fundamentallysound on Apr 4, 2010 11:52 AM CDT up reply actions

Manu is a great player

when healthy. But, the Bulls would be absolutely crazy for targeting Manu if they intend on him to be the only player they sign this summer. He is going to be 33 years old this summer and has become injury prone the last couple seasons. He probably has only one productive, maybe two seasons left.

I would not mind them getting a Boozer + Manu combo if they fail on Bosh, LeBron, or Wade, though.

by LoveForTheGame on Apr 4, 2010 12:42 PM CDT up reply actions

Agreed

Although I don’t think boozer + Manu will be affordable. Lee + Manu is a better bet. Or, not to blow your mind, but how about ginobili, camby and al harrington?

Brad Miller is god.

by Poloplaya14 on Apr 4, 2010 1:43 PM CDT up reply actions

S+T for either Boozer or Manu

than sign the other one outright would work. I could see the Jazz taking on two years left of Hinrich’s decreasing contract and James Johnson for Boozer (Maybe not, actaully). I would be fine with Lee also. Lee is a good fit with Noah IMO. Lee is always playing center for the undersized Knicks, but he really is a PF. Lee even recorded a 37 points, 20 rebs, and 10 dimes the other night (even though it was against the Warriors).

Getting Ginobili, Camby, and Harrington would be horrible. Those guys are all over the age of 30 and none of them could be a fixture in our starting lineup for at least the next 3-4 years. I have never been a fan of Harrington anyways, even though he is rumored to be a Bull every single trade deadline.

and I will keep agreeing.

Toronto has 6 games left and will go 2-4

That was a big lost for toronto and they really hurt their playoff chances. They have to play cavs, bulls, boston and the hawks and two other teams.

The stars are aligning for us

bogut being out and all, hopefully the raps collapse and rose flourishes into a SUPERSTAR

Man-o-man...

tough games coming up for Tor. a 3-game losing streak is ideal, with us winning all our games.

We suck at Toronto

I’m fearful

Don't worry, as long as noah is starting and playing, the bulls will win

I’m pretty sure vinny will put noah on bosh, so he won’t score 42 points on the bulls.

The bulls have a little easier schedule left

The bulls have to play the bucks without their center, nets, bobcats again, toronto, boston and another team.

unless bobcats/boston/raps really bring it

Tyrus would play 20 minutes

and the game would hinge on how Captain Jack played.
*BTW, I always forget S-Jax’s first name … hwo you spell it, steven or stephen, which makes the large amount of nicknames really helpful.

Go Rockets/Nets[CDR]/Bucks[Jennings]!

Was watching the Raps game on NBA TV

Wow awesome ending. Turiaf givith….and Turiaf taketh away….AWESOME! Threw a stupid inbounds pass and then blocked Bosh on his layup attempt. Bosh couldn’t have dunked because Turiaf was right there. Bulls only 2 games back now (including tie breaker). Toronto is going down!!!
