The prevailing idea around the NBA is that the Heat will get Amare Stoudemire and Dwayne Wade will return. My question is does the Heat getting Stoudemire guarantee Wade's return? At first I thought maybe, but now I'm not sure if just Stoudemire will do it.
Stoudemire is a player with an extensive injury history who plays no defense and doesn't rebound. He can be an offensive force when he wants to be, but it seems that he plays interested when he is about to become a free agent. Not to mention that he played with the best PG in the league if you want to have better stats. Nash is probably the best passer in this league, and Stoudemire played an up-tempo game in Phoenix which won't necessarily be the case in Miami.
I've brought this up before, but would you rather play with Stoudemire, another decent player, and scrubs or Rose, Noah, etc. with the potential of a lot of maneuvering due to the fact we have so many tradeable pieces. I would much rather have Rose than Stoudemire, and I think Wade would rather have Noah because he is a guy who does all the dirty work: he will rebound, play D, and set screens. Wade would become better with that kind of player rather than have one more guy to carry some of the scoring load.
The best case scenario may just be Stoudemire re-singing with Phoenix though. People think that his re-signing will limit the Bulls options, and thar may be true to some degree, but that could arguably kill the Heat's plans. If they don't get Stoudemire then I believe only Bosh and Lebron get Wade to stay. I don' t see Lebron going there, and if Bosh truly wants a sign and trade the Heat have nobody to trade. Then the Heat may be stuck with a Boozer, Lee, Gay, none of whom I believe are better than Rose or Noah.
Lastly though, Wade must think about the consequences of Amare and Miami. Amare is a guy who likes to party, and where better to do that than South Beach? With his sidekick Beasley partying with him it is pretty much a fact that they will tear up South Beach, and that they may even miss games due to massive hangovers.
