2009-10 Chicago Bulls Awards

THE GOOD

Most Valuable Player: Derrick Rose
- They do not win without this guy, plain and simple.

Rookie of the Year: Taj Gibson
- If you would have told me at the beginning of the season that he would start 70 games and be one of two players to play every game, I would have told you how crazy you are.

Defensive Player of the Year: Joakim Noah
- Give Noah credit, he held his own against some of the NBA's toughest bigs.
- This honor would have went to Tyrus Thomas if he stayed the entire season.

Sixth Man of the Year: Brad Miller
- Many teams lack even a starting center with Miller's underrated talent.
- He is the other guy who played every game.

Most Improved Player: Joakim Noah
- He has become everything the Bulls wanted Tyson Chandler to be.

Best Starting Lineup: Noah, Gibson, Deng, Hinrich, Rose (17-8)
- I wonder if they could have avoided Cleveland in the first round if this lineup played together all season.

Season Sweeps Versus: Detroit, Houston, Minnesota, New Orleans, and San Antonio

THE BAD

Worst Offensive Player: Jannero Pargo
- A .933 FT% does not make up for .346 FG% and a .275 3P% when you are considered a shooter.

Worst Defensive Player: Jannero Pargo
- This kind of relates to his offensive shortcomings. My high school coach used to constantly remind his players that their values are assessed by points vs. points given up.

Most Inconsistent: Kirk Hinrich
- "You're hot then you're cold you're yes then you're no you're in then you're out you're up then you're down you're wrong when it's right it's black and it's white we fight we brake up we kiss we make up..."

No Wins Versus: Dallas, Denver, LA Clippers, LA Lakers, Memphis, Utah
- What is worse, not winning vs. LA Clippers or going 1-2 vs. New Jersey?

I voted for the games against New Jersey

For some reason those games REALLY pissed me off. Even though in the grand scheme of things it wasn’t a huge deal.

If you're reading this signature, there's a good chance you don't like Vinny Del Negro.

by Juiceboxjerry on Apr 28, 2010 5:23 AM CDT reply actions

NJ wasn't as bad as they performed that year

They had even more injury problems than we did, and we ran into them when they were healthy. Doesn’t make it okay to lose them, but still.

Brad Miller is god.

My vote went to JANNERO PARGOOOO!

He played too much and we lost a few games because of his damm shooting. I still not forget the shits that he made against Memphis during that 10 games losing streak. The Bulls could have won that game if it wasn’t for him. Thank God the season ended and I will be able to change my signature

Jannero Pargo = Larry Hughes 2.0

Most disappointing stat this season:

Taj Gibson played in every game.

"Oh, y ahora ¿quién podrá defenderme?" "¡Yo!"

by chapuforyou on Apr 28, 2010 7:28 AM CDT reply actions

Pargo...

Not only was he terrible on the court, but the Bulls wasted a full Bi-Annual Exception on this guy; which is potentially one less tool at the Bulls disposal this summer. After seeing Pargo for one more season, I would not even offer him a veteran’s minimum,

Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.

Most "Meh"

Luol Deng.

Is it too much to expect a dominant game once in a while for a guy we’re paying like this? Even if it’s not in scoring, couldn’t we see him have a standout all-around game once in a while?

"It’d be ridiculous to hate someone for simply what they say in a sports blog. But I greatly dislike every syllable of your angst-filled, smarmy, nondescript, half-assed, elitist-garbage responses." –Rogerspark Kris

He is just not that aggressive.

Like most others I was yelling at my computer screen when I first read about the signing simply because he is not a big game player. The Bulls should have been able to sign both Gordon and Deng for what they are currently paying Deng.

I think at this point we should give up at expecting dominance

and be glad at least he can bring 18-20 points 7-10 rebounds and a steal and a block. That’s much more than Kirk Hinrich, who would be my option for most irritating. I can’t stand how inconsistent he is. It really drives me nuts.

I refuse to vote in that poll

Though I would consider voting for the 2 losses to New Jersey, you missed arguably the worse thing that happened to the Bulls all season – the loss to Sacramento where the Bulls blew a 35 point 2nd half lead with the Bulls sporting a full compliment of players (Tyrus was out but he doesn’t count). That would be loss of the year for any team – but the Bulls.

Bingo! I knew there was something I forgot to add to the poll!

I guess I blocked it out of my head. Thanks for opening up that wound Basketball Smurf.

My player

for SHUT DOWN THE CARTER and OPERATION IS OVER award is Jannero Pargo, he was Ben Gordon light, giving the Bulls organization like 1/6 the production.

by QUINTEN DALEY on Apr 28, 2010 4:25 PM CDT reply actions

I don't understand this neologism.

What is SHUT DOWN THE CARTER?!?!

I saw T2 at Walgreens in Deerfield he’s tall. if you’re wondering what his grocery list included: magnums, french vanilla ice cream and a 20 oz sprite

by Super-Structure on Apr 28, 2010 6:21 PM CDT up reply actions

was a phrase used by G-Money in New Jack City, when he called Nino letting him know the Carter was done, SHUT DOWN THE CARTER means, its over, done, finished.

by QUINTEN DALEY on Apr 29, 2010 9:50 AM CDT up reply actions

Oh!

I didn’t get it either…I get it now, shut down the Carter projects. I thought you guys were doing some anti Lil Wayne thing.

Cancel this bitch!

by C Smoove on Apr 29, 2010 10:19 AM CDT up reply actions   2 recs

That should be phrase

we use for Pargo and Vinny, “Cancel this bitch!”

by QUINTEN DALEY on Apr 29, 2010 10:50 AM CDT up reply actions

Thats cool.

Bust yo 5 dollar ass and make change

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dV6xgXXd51E

As far as LW goes…Most of his stuff is trash, but even I had to admit dude came with it on some of the tracks on his last CD. Now he just mumbles and giggles thru a whole song…he has wordplay…but most of his shit is too silly.
