So, what if we miss the playoffs?
If we miss the playoffs we still have a good chance of getting a star free agent.
First of all we have the money. We have a good core of four players and maybe Hinrich with his defense. They are Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Luol Deng, and Taj Gibson. If we get a star free agent we will be in contention for NBA chaps for a long time to come.
What I would do as GM of the Bulls this summer
- Go after Chris Bosh (option 1)
- If we get Chris Bosh we should go after Ray Allen (option 1)
- If we don't get Bosh the we go after Joe Johnson and we would still have a good change of improving (option 2).
The Line up for 2010-2011 season would be (Option 1):
PG: Derrick Rose / Acie Law (resign)
SG: Ray Allen / Kirk Hinrich
SF: Luol Deng / James Johnson
PF: Chris Bosh / Taj Gibson
C: Joakim Noan / Omer Asik / Brad Miller (resign)
The Line up for 2010-2011 season would be (Option 2):
PG: Derrick Rose / Acie Law (resign)
SG: Joe Johnson / Kirk Hinrich
SF: Luol Deng / James Johnson
PF: Taj Gibson / Draft Pick
C: Joakim Noan / Omer Asik / Brad Miller (resign)
**** Notice there is no Jannero Pargo!!!!!****
Why go for Joe Johnson instead of Dwayne Wade?
1. Dwayne and Derrick play the same style
2. Joe Johnson is great shooter and has more size than Dwayne.
The only bad thing about Joe is that he is going to turn 29 this summer and that he is going to want a max offer.
So what do you think the Bulls should do if they miss the Playoffs???
ps: hopefully this doesn't get blocked

if we miss the playoff, we are less atractive to FA
It indicates that they could be in a team with losers and they could become losers
True but,
We have way more talent than the Knicks and Nets. The only thing is that the Knicks can afford two max players.
I disagree we are a team in NEED of a good FA
Our coach and executive staff are the only things that makes less attractive.
I think the FA know that we have talent on our team.
They also know that we are in NEED of a good FA, so anyone we take will want a max offer.
This round of FA aren’t looking to carry a team, they got some miles on them.
Honestly I hope we miss the playoffs and pick up excellent young talent at Small forward or Center, maybe someone who can play OFFENSE!!! I hate that we’ve become a team that can’t make jump shots anymore. The goal was to get bigger and retain our offensive skill. I think the Bulls of 2008 would crush the bulls of 2010.
Ginobili
Ginobili’s mentioned that he might leave San Antonio after this year. You suggest that Ray Allen should be on the Bulls radar, but I think Manu is just as appropriate a target as well.

True that!!!
Manu would be a greater player to play alongside Bosh and the other guys. But who knows how much he would want to sign with another team ($$) Same with Ray Allen. Maybe they could take the midlevel exception, if we have any.
He just went for 43 aganist the Magic tonight
And I must say the Spurs fans are so much better than ours. And Sean Elliot called fans idiots for getting into it with Dwight Howard.
I'm cuckoo for Kukoc!!!

Manu is going to be the second best SG on the market behind Wade. Unfortunately, he's often injured and he'll be 33
this year. On the positive side, maybe he doesn’t demand a max deal AND you might be able to offer him fewer years than a guy like Johnson because he’s older and might be thinking about retirement soon. I’d much rather have the Poo God over JJ.
Kirk Hinrich sucks. The end.

He's not going to command a max deal
Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."
Yeah, he might not, but he's more deserving of one than Joe freaking Johnson, who probably will get one or close to it.
Give me Manu for 3 years over Joe Johnson for 5 at any price.
Kirk Hinrich sucks. The end.

I agree
I’d take Manu over him as well as a player and as a contract.
Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."
He's too old
need Younger, Taller, Faster.
Our best players were racked with injuries this year, contracting older players with injuries is a death wish.
Why is it
That people hate Joe Johnson and would take old and busted Manu over him? I mean He’s good but C’mon. I would have Wade over both but. Joe over Manu now as many times as he gets hurt?
Because he's a much better player
older or not. Injuries are a factor, but a healthy Manu’s impact on the game is head and shoulders above Joe Johnson and he won’t be a max contract either.
Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."
That's funny
considering Joe Johnson is right now injured heading into the playoffs while old, injured and busted Manu has been destroying teams left and right for the past month or so.
Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."
Yes he did
He got his money too so he’s out of the discussion.
Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."
Injuries hurt the bulls
Players will still want to come to the bulls because they know that injuries was the reason the bulls didn’t make it but the bulls do need a new coach, that alone will hurt the team, if they don’t get rid of vinny.
Vinny won't be too much of a problem
Yes the Bulls shouldn’t have hired him in the first place, they should have gotten someone with at least some experience and maybe given Vinny an assistant job. But he’s done a decent job considering.
More to the point, 60-70% (if not higher) of NBA head coaches are interchangeable. Pick just about any coach out there and you will find that their resume includes many bad seasons and firings. There are only a few truly great coaches out there and even then, most of that is just based on reputation that may not have been quite deserved (Phil Jackson for example – it’s been years since he’s done any actual coaching). Skiles was a great coach, till he wasn’t, then he got fired and now is a great coach again… till he isn’t and gets fired again (which will happen eventually, that’s the life of an NBA coach).
Is Vinny any better or worse than most of the other coaches out there – not in any significant way. He is perceived to be better or worse based on how good of a team he has.
Any potential free agent is not going to care too much who the head coach is.
Take Doc Rivers for example. He was considered an absolute horrible coach. Everyone in Boston ripped his every move much in the same way that everyone here rips on Vinny. But he really wasn’t horrible. He wasn’t particularly good either, but the point is that everyone was greatly over-exaggerating just how bad he was. The fact was that Boston was a bad team during those years. Then Paul Pierce started playing at a higher level, they traded for Garnett and got Ray Allen and Rondo and the team magically got better and won a championship. Now I barely hear a peep about how bad of a coach Doc Rivers is.
My point is, unless a player has a specific personal problem with a coach, that player will not care too much who the coaches are on teams they are considering. Keeping or replacing Vinny as coach will not directly help or hurt the team. It may, it may not, but it’s very insignificant compared to what players make up the team, who they sign in free agency, who they trade for, etc.

Agreed
Vinny’s bad, but the effect of coaching on overall performance is a lot smaller than people think, and the difference between Vinny and an average coach is a pretty marginal one.
Brad Miller is god.
I believe the real risk in attracting top free agents
Is the real perception that Bulls management specifically John Paxson and Gar Foreman and to a degree Reinsdorf are buffoons. Case and point…
1.) Mike D’Antoni debacle
2.) The Ben Gordon falsehood, lies and then final debacle
3.) Undying love for Kirk Hinrich at the expense of a couple of players lost who were more productive then Hinrich.
4.) Six years of high draft picks by John Paxson, and still a team without a character and basically huge failures in his selections and player development
5) The testimony of the present success of Scott Skiles who has hampered by the stupidness of the PaxsDorf basketball product, and they continue to sign players like Pargo, Hunter and Gray to supposely strengthen their bench. In addition adding dead beat rejects as fill-ins for coaching assistance.
I believe all NBA players all know and have an opinion of the Bulls management. Players also know that the ownership and backoffice management are actually more important that the actual coach (especially in VDN case)
The city of chicago, chicago market might be viewed as a positive, yet I believe Bulls management/ownership receives much unspoken negative perceptions among the players
"I tried being reasonable, I didn't like it."
"Go ahead, make my day"
"We boil at different degrees"
"A good man always knows his limitations"
"You've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya punk?"
I disagree
w/ point 4, the players he has drafted have been very productive players, the least productive player he has drafted has been Tyrus, I don’t think his draft record is bad.

This offseason will be about Rose
Let’s make some things clear.
1. Wade is NOT leaving The Heat!!! He is in a good position to sit back and watch them try and get another Max player. The Heat hold is Bird rights so they can go over the cap signing him once the snag another player like Bosh or Amare. Plus they can trade Beasley for another player if needed. On another note he just filed for sole custody of his kids who live in Miami, he’s not going to move them to Chicago or anywhere else.
2. Lebron is not leaving Cleveland!!!! Most likely Lebron gets his first ring this year and that will cement his place with the Cavs. He can also sit back and relax while the Cavs try and bring another star to Cleveland. Remember he filed for a number change next year and you only need to do that with your current team … hmmm. If they don’t win this year he recently made a statement about staying with the Cavs until he brings them a title.
3. That leaves us with Bosh, JJ, Amare, Manu and Boozer to try and bring in. I wouldn’t be surprised if next year we have Manu and Bosh/Boozer playing for us. Manu I can see coming off the bench and playing major minutes or us kinda like BG did. I hope that we can snag Bosh but I have a feeling he’s either going to resign or head for Miami.
4. Derrick Rose is going to have to continue to bring his game to the next level. which I have no doubt he will do. Not to bite Stacey King but You Must of not got the Memo, Derrick Rose is our superstar we need to build a team around him.
Let's make some things actually clear
1. The NBA CBA stipulates that once a team uses its cap room, they lose all their Bird rights exceptions, invalidating your point. They can still sign Wade and Bosh/Amare, but after that, they’re pretty much done. They’ll have to fill the rest of their roster with minimum-salary players. Compare that to what Wade could play with if he came to the Bulls. Rose alone is better than any maxFA Miami can convince to play with Wade (besides LBJ and Bosh) and then we have Deng, Noah, Taj, Hinrich, and JJ, which is vastly superior to Beasley, Chalmers, and Daequan Cook.
2. Hollinger says Cleveland has a 22.7% chance of winning a ring. That’s not “most likely.” And who’s to say winning a ring cements him there. Maybe that allows him to leave as a hero and experience less backlash. And I’d like to see this statement you refer to.
3. Thanks for stating the obvious.
4. Must have, not must of.
Brad Miller is god.

Agree with 3.5 of the 4
Derrick Rose is our star, but his game is perfectly fine. A PG of his caliber should not have to shoulder the entire scoring effort nor should he have to run the entire team on both ends of the floor all night every game. Most PG in the NBA do HALF of what he currently does. We are taking advantage of a young guy who can very quickly get seriously hurt or worse, turn sour. We do need to build a team around him, but first and foremost we need to decide what role he is gonna play and LIMIT what he does on the court to ensure his career longevity. Is he gonna be a PG or a SG. I fear that this management will surround him with a bunch of Brad Millers and Louk Dengs to “lead” when he really needs a bunch of Tyrus Thomas’ and Joakim Noahs to “lead.”
I cringe when I think what will happen when we have to resign Derrick Rose to the Bulls…..
Toronto lost we are 1/2 game out of playoffs!!!
WE need to finish strong!!!
Any option with Brad Miller coming back is just a solid idea.

Chris Bosh (FA) and Anthony Morrow (RFA)
Chris Bosh should be the max-deal that we sign, if not him, Boozer. I think Boozer will prefer going to Miami. Then sign Anthony Morrow from the Warriors. I don’t think they’ll match and offer sheet for him, they’re a little guard heavy as it is.
C- Noah
PF- Bosh / Taj
SF- Deng / JJ
SG – Morrow / Hinrich
PG- Rose / Law
[only built for cuban linx]
Michael Redd
What about Micheal Redd, he’s hurt and could come for cheap (even though he is out for the season)
Don't know if it's true but
I thought I read that if VDN is given the flick, whichever FA signs has a say in which new coach to hire.
oh man...
rose
allen
deng
bosh
noah
damn that’s a sick line-up.
I think we could do this.
Since it’s possible that toronto misses the playoffs!
