I don't know how Gibson's performance would factor in if management felt they had legitimate chances to land Bosh or Johnson. I'd lean towards your thinking. Sign Johnson because Taj is at least viable and Johnson fills a need.

-From KC's latest mailbag. I just threw up in my mouth. If this is what the Org. does, then wow. Just wow. Fire them all.

This is just amazing.

Taj lessens the blow of ending up with Joe Johnson instead of one of the elite big men or Lebron James. But if you have a chance at Amare or Bosh, you have to take those guys.

I’m not the biggest Hinrich fan, but I’d be fine with Hinrich at shooting guard if it meant we had Bosh or Amare.

Exactly

Thats where the whole argument falls apart, if you consider Taj a viable option at PF, then Kirk is a viable option at SG, so why not go with the FAR superior option in Bosh?

by JeffD on Apr 15, 2010 11:32 AM CDT up reply actions

Seriously.

Not to mention Bosh is overall a better player and he’s also younger.

KC is such an idiot

I sure hope his brilliance only comes out in his books.

he's not an idiot, he's more a conduit for the Org.

who do he and Sam Smith talk to the most? Bulls guys. They probably like Joe Johnson, and talking up Taj. Because that’s who they’re going to sign and how they’re going to spin it.

KC respects their opinion and is convinced of it himself as a sensible move.

Usually I agree with KC's mailbag opinions though

…so that’s why this one really scares me.

Thrusting out of the playoff race, one injury at a time.

Yep, I could care less what KC thinks

It’s the fact that what he thinks is usually what the org. thinks that scares me

If you're reading this signature, there's a good chance you don't like Vinny Del Negro.

i'd actually argue against that

he was a BG and tyrus supporter for the most part.

"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"

by Jaina on Apr 15, 2010 3:24 PM CDT up reply actions

True, but in those cases didn't he always

preface it by saying “I like BG/Tyrus Thomas, but they’ll be gone” etc.? Everyone knew those guy’s fate, when it comes to future decisions it seems like he’s usually pretty close to what the org does

If you're reading this signature, there's a good chance you don't like Vinny Del Negro.

Sooo... they're saying Hinrich isn't a viable option?

My, the org’s tune has changed on the wunderkind.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

They should

trade him, please don’t let Taj’s performance keep you from getting the best player available, don’t go after plan B 1st, please sell out for LeBron, Bosh, Wade, Amare.

by QUINTEN DALEY on Apr 15, 2010 3:58 PM CDT up reply actions

youre all reading it wrong

Try replacing viable with cheap and read again

i hate this.

there is something awesome about Pargo, though.
Seriously. It’s kind of awe inspiring: he WILL shoot. He has no conscience. No remorse. He will shoot – the situation, the opponent, the country. He could be in zero gravity floating in orbit. The dude would be jacking up shots. And missing.

This is great stuff

They hype us up for the worst case scenario and if they do somehow land a better free agent, they’re heroes!

If the Bulls don’t make the playoffs I won’t need to watch basketball, its on to basketball.

Might be a signal of what sort of realistic expectations we should have

Most likely, Lebron and Wade stay put. Bosh and Amare will be heavily courted by New York and Miami and thus the Bulls may only be able to sign Johnson. If that is the case, then basically the Bulls are arguing that it won’t be the worst thing in the world because Gibson is serviceable at the 4. If we fail to get any of those guys, I think a strong argument can be made that Johnson is a better upgrade for the team than going after Boozer or Lee.

In some ways, I don’t disagree. If that’s our worst-case-scenario, I can live with that – even if it isn’t our most desirable outcome.

add another to the list of Johnson over Bosh.

CSNChicago’s Aggrey Sam:

While Bosh is certainly a top-10 player in the league…

I cut it off there, as he should’ve :)

But yeah, the usual. Need outside shooting more, Taj, etc.
