Are you Fred? Come on…tell the truth…
No really, I tried to listen to the whole thing. But when he kept comparing Kirk to BG on a PPG basis, and insisting that he didn’t “hate Kirk”, well those would be the telltale signs of having an enormous axe to grind. Also the long harrangue about Kirk’s contract and contract negotiations, and their contrast with the Bulls ‘negotiations’ with BG were yet more things that could not possibly have a place in ‘An Offensive Analysis of Kirk Hinrich from 2005 to the Present’. Actually I listened for some time, and did not hear any actual ANALYSIS of Kirk’s offense, just propaganda.
Now we both know who the Bulls starting SG should be this season, and make no mistake, we agree on who that should be. Kirk is best suited to be a 3rd guard (like last year), or the PG on a team with a good scoring SG (like he was prior to last year).
No, but we see
amazingly eye to eye on BG and Kurt.
Are you Fred?
Of course, I have answered the question on why Kurt gets so much love (that Fred left unanswered), but no one here seems to agree with me (especially yfBB).
We miss you, Tyrus Thomas and Ben Gordon!

Who on the Bulls looks the most like the typically suburban fan?

We’ve always agreed regarding the respective roles that BG and Kirk should occupy
In so far as you agree with what I wrote.
I think we just have a difference of perspective. I value what Kirk brings to the Bulls, especially if he were allowed to play the 3rd guard role. Do I think he’s worth $9mil.? No, but I don’t really care about that either. Memphis can’t afford to pay a 3rd guard $9mil, the Bulls can, EASILY. If the Bulls had signed BG for 5/$50mil when they should have, the Bulls would have had a very strong 3 guard rotation for roughly $24mil this year. When Derrick is ready for an extention, Kirk’s contract would be ending anyway, and they could re-sign him for a much cheaper amount if they decided to.
I simply do not see BG and Kirk as mutually exclusive because they play different roles, and the Bulls could have afforded them both without any difficulty had they chose to. I refuse to give JR a free ride and go along with the idea that the Bulls couldn’t afford both of them because it would have put them into the luxury tax, it’s bullshit. It would have been a shame for the Bulls to only profit by $40mil instead of $50mil. Sure it would have made the Bulls a better team for us ingrate fans, but how would we live with ourselves knowing that JR would be slightly less rich?
What disurbs me is not really the love the org. shows Kirk (though I think they value him a little too much), nor the love shown to Deng (another player who’s treatment is sometimes contrasted with BG). What burns me is the complete LACK of love the org. showed to BG and Tyrus. Tyrus was at least somewhat tempermental (how many NBA players aren’t), BG did NOTHING to deserve the lack of respect he was given.

I think his analysis of games with 20 or more points is unfair
In the Skiles-Boylan year, yes, he has a case on Kirk. In Rose’s rookie year, he was coming off the bench and then he tore his thumb. This year, he came off the bench for a little while, and has scored 20 a few times since joining the starting lineup.
But yeah, his offense did fall off a cliff, but I wouldn’t point out his drop in 20 point games as the indicator.
"Where are the FUCKING TWINKIES?"
he has not scored 20 points a few times since joining the starting line up
he has scored 20 pts twice all season. i think the fact that Kirk never has any sort of big games anymore is a problem
