Normally everything Sam Smith says is false, but these are quotes right from Rose. He says starting next game he's not going to be quiet about getting hacked and recieving a no-call.

it will be interesting to see how this plays out, but i think derrick also has to stop wiggling

around defenders if he wants to get calls. are guys “hacking” him? its hard to tell. but i notice a difference between how rose attacks the hoop and how guys who get to the line a lot attack the hoop. i think rose (and vinny too!) needs to try the crying/histrionic strategy, but i dont think it will be too effective, just like i was sceptical of roses all-star appearance changing anything.

The problem is Rose

contorts because of the constant no-calls, I agree Vinny needs to take that $25,000 fine for the team, I got $1.50 on the fine.

The problem is Rose...

…Rose has always done that. He contorts because he’s ridiculously athletically-gifted with exception body control and it helps him put the ball in the hoop. The point of the game.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

yeahhhhh

i just hope he doesnt turn into kobe, who cries for a foul if someone simply breathes on him

If he gets 10 free throws a game

He can be the league’s biggest whiner for all I care. I’ve seen seven years of nice guy basketball, not so fun.

I agree

though I still think that Rose simply does not generate the contact the best foul-drawers do, not that he whines less.

I think there was a post on it

about how young kids trying to get recruited are used to avoiding contact, because you don’t get calls on the playground, and it impressed scouts.

This is very true

Aint no fouls in streetball.

Brad Miller is god.

by Poloplaya14 on Mar 5, 2010 5:28 PM CST up reply actions

I think it's a bit of both

Rose needs to generate a bit more contact and sometimes just make his primary goal to get to the line and his secondary goal to make the shot. He seems to get contaced mostly on the arms and generates less actualy body contact. Especially when he is struggling from outside, he could simply jump into someone, and then think about making the shot

by DRose01 on Mar 5, 2010 3:54 PM CST up reply actions

Have we ever seen Rose flail?

I’ve seen Brad Miller get some pretty questionable calls using his Flail/Glare combination. Rose muscles through almost like Shaq, so it’s hard for me to tell whether he got hacked or just nudged.

by YaoPau on Mar 5, 2010 4:02 PM CST up reply actions

I think you're just wrong on this one.

I think Rose draws just about as much contact as the Kobes and LeBrons. Maybe a little less, but that difference is marginal. The biggest difference, IMO, is that Rose’s attempts look prettier even when he does draw contact, and he still manages to throw the ball up off the glass even when getting shoved.

Brad Miller is god.

If we think about it, Rose almost never looks like he's blatantly hacked

because he never falls…it’s like he has the balance of a cat, and always lands on his feet. Even when Rose goes up and gets raked across the arm/chest he still gets the shot up, and we just think he wasn’t able to finish, when in reality he was fouled.

I for one, hope he does into Kobe

Sorry, but I wouldn’t mind having the best player in the NBA on my team

Brad Miller is god.

No, I don't want Rose whining like Hinrich.

I mean, if it works, I guess. But it’s kind of annoying to me.

I just don't want

Rose to become a foul whore, like Devan Harris or Rodney Stuckey

by QUINTEN DALEY on Mar 5, 2010 4:03 PM CST reply actions

finally something the captain

can pass on to rose… though it really hasn’t worked for Kirk either…

I'm cuckoo for Kukoc!!!

There's a happy medium.

I don’t think it’s possible for Derrick to be a douche. If he’s going to “cry and flop around” two things are going to happen. First, he’ll get more calls. A lot more. Second, it’s going to be HILARIOUS.

Derrick Rose acting? Wow…guys…he’s gonna be baaaaad.
