We all knew this was coming
plus I think it is the right thing to do. Lets hope we can make it to the playoffs and get him back healthy to start our 2010 playoff push.

I question Bulls trainers here
Noah originally had this injury in mid-January, and now they want to sit him till the end of March? Taj was missing summer league games with plantar fasciitis back in July, and still was being held out of practices for it in mid-February?? I know this is a hard injury to treat, but it’s depressing to see these guys hurt longer than it seems they should be.
yeah, not sure what they can do
Noah got better over the all-star break, so they tested it, and then it got worse. At least they aren’t sending out press releases calling him a wimp this time.

I agree
They were right to shut him down the first time but it didn’t make sense to let him come back so quick. They should’ve just kept him out until he was healed. This happened to Chris Kaman last season and he was out for about 8 weeks or so from what I remember, then came back and was fine.
Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."
As someone who has PF
it’s not that cut and dried. I’ve been dealing with the issue on and off for the past 18 years. There’s no magic cure, every person who has it reacts differently to the standard treatments. And what causes it varies from person to person. sometimes its repetitive stress on foot – like playing basketball – sometimes its the structure of the foot itself which is where my problems with PF start. Some people get rid of it in a week and never have it again, like a friend of mine who got it while training for a marathon. 7 days fo rest, and he went back to running, but gave up the marathon training, and he’s never had it again.

The pain threshold for PF varies from person to person.
Tim Duncan played the 2006 season with PF, had his worst statistical season since the rookie year, yet he only missed 2 games. On the other hand, someone like Nocioni had to be shut down for a specific time.
I don’t think the Bulls trainers have any other choice. The team is desperate for wins, and Noah makes a huge difference on the court. He also clearly wants to be in the lineup, so I’m glad both sides have realized that it’s best to take it easy.

this is good that he's gonna rest up
I remember Noch coming back from it too early, and really wasn’t the same afterwards.. I think when Tim Duncan had it they were pretty cautious too and he recovered after some rest.
I'm cuckoo for Kukoc!!!
I'd rather see them have him sit out the whole season if that's what it takes to get him to 100%
This season’s been written off in terms of team success since the garbage swap with Cleveland 2 years ago. Let him rest now so he can actually work out in the off season and be ready for next season.
We have every right to dream heroic dreams. Those who say that we're in a time when there are no heroes, they just don't know where to look.

that's true, while an offseason means rest
rest means no conditioning for the guy.

also if we shut him down for the season
i think there will be stories from the media that come out questioning noah’s durability and such which could hurt our FA pitch

That will just help the club if they start talking extension this summer.
In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).
Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

::evil laugh::
they’ll give him a take-it-or-leave it, then he’ll leave it, then Reinsdorf will say in February 2011 that he heard that Noah regretted not taking it.
(that still gets me. remember that? Best part was someone asked Gordon and he said ‘sure wasn’t me’. Damn you Gordon if you were only more of a company man)

Remember...
Noah’s family is rich…he doesn’t need the money the same way Deng or most NBA players need it…this negotiation will not be about a couple of million of dollars (like the diminutive guard to which you refer), but about the the amount of respect shown to Noah…
Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.
what?
Noah’s family may have money, but I’ve never seen anyone (rich, poor or otherwise) turn down millions of dollars. If someone offers Noah significantly more money (I mean a million a year more), than that is the respect he will pay attention too.

It was worth it!
They beat Portland and those obnoxious Blazer bloggers have shut up.

Lol, souleater. It must be true that great minds think alike
because I was thinking the same thing. Without Noah, the Blazers would have won that game and they’d likely be invading BaB for the rest of the year just to rub it in.
What’s the big deal anyway? Paxdork and the suits have re-signed Richard to take up the slack so the dropoff should be negligable especially with the easy upcoming schedule, although I’m not sure how having to waive Lindsey to accomplish this will hurt us in the backcourt. Oh wait, I forgot, Pargo is back with his 6 shooter fully loaded and ready to fire at will, although I wish he’d aim it at Vinny.

He might play better. He takes most of his shots with a defenders hand in his face anyways.

Really? Noah is averaging a double double and is like 5th in the league in rebounding…Richard is D-Leaguer. Please, make your case that the drop off will be negligible.

I still think they creep into the 7th or 8th seed somehow
I don’t know why. Maybe cause of Derrick Rose but I really can’t back it up though.
But if Deng misses some more time, well then that’s a different story.
I've been surprised how well they handled things without Noah, actually
but a lot of that is the schedule. I still think they make it.

the upcoming schedule is brutal and I don't think they can sustain their current level of competence sans Noah
people are going to get worn down filling the void with increased minutes.

It's been the Schedule...
That Hawks game was over in the 2nd quarter. I have feeling we might get more ten point leads that feel like 30. The only offensive production is through Rose or whatever Deng can provide when healthy. The front court looks like a turnstile and they still don’t have 3 point shooting to get back into games on the road.
I’m not hopeful.
Beasley spent the first two quarters like he was wandering through a forest.-Neil Funk
If Deng, Richard, Miller, and Warrick step up, this is a blessing in disguise
If we can make the playoffs, and get Noah back at about the 2nd or 3rd last game of the season so he can get back in shape shake off the rust, then we have a refreshed Noah for the playoffs. If the rest of our guys could just sustain his play a little, this could be our best shot at the second round.
Why aren't they selling Rose's all star jersey?
All is not lost
As T. Moore noted, the East sucketh, and the Bulls have a lot of home games. I can see Deng and Warrick stepping up but fear Brad will need to have 911 on speed dial if he has to play extended minutes for the next 3 weeks. Even if Richard steps up, wouldn’t this be like going from the street to the sidewalk? His upside is equivilant to my vertical jump. He only averaged 10 points in the “D” league. As nutty as it may sound, I wish we had kept the White Panther now that Noah is going to replace him as the team’s primary cheerleader. I know Rose will try to supercharge his already impressive thrust, but this may wind up wearing him down for the playoffs even if the Bulls do pull through.
Not to wish bad things for our competitors, but I’m hoping D. Wade has to go down for awhile (and then make a perfect recovery before joining Rose next year), that Bosch remains hampered and the Bucks finally realize they have no business playing so well, since they are the Bucks, after all. Damn that Skiles, he’s seeking his revenge and I think he’s aiming right at the “Bulls” eye. Let’s hope Fish reverts to the mean, as in how he played this year for us. Larry Brown believes his veterans should have no problem playing 40 minutes a night, so their wheels may come off as the diminishing amount of rubber hits the road. So far so good for me, Tyrus has been ballin’ and they continue to lose, a win-win situation.
Pessimisticly speaking, I remain cautiously optimistic. Maybe JJ will start figuring things out. He didn’t look half bad against the Hawks and success breeds confidence if he can keep his energy under control. Warrick can score down low and Murray has had spurts of good runs in the past. Before I completely panic, I have to continue to remind myself that this is the East, where mediocrity reigns towards the bottom of the playoff rung.

I don't think the East is as mediocre as it once was
When Atlanta snuck into the 8th seed 8 games under .500 a couple years ago. Even considering the last 3 or 4 years, the 8th seed hasn’t had a winning record. I still see this years 8th seed being a .500 or better team
Because 8/15 teams make it in (more than half), the 8th seed will be under .500 more often than not
That alone does not prove anything about the east’s relative strength
Agreed
I would say if the bulls can get better contributions from Deng, Warrick, Richards and Murry they might be ok and stick in 6th or 7th.
Beasley spent the first two quarters like he was wandering through a forest.-Neil Funk
i agree
if the bulls can stay afloat, i’d rather have this so noah can improve, rather than have noah hobbling through the playoffs.
"They should. They better. I'm Vinny Del Negro!"
Lame.
Hopefully he will be with team when they are in Orlando since that is only game I can get to this year.

We had lemonade and now it is not as sweet
This is depressing. I thought with Noah healthy we were playing really well. If you remember Noah was really becoming a beast. Rose was dominating and Deng was solid. I thought we were just below the upper echelon of the NBA with this team BEFORE this summer’s opportunity to get another good player. I am not ready to start counting down to next season but I do not see Noah 100% until next October.
if then. sometimes plantar fascitus can last years.
or come back whenever excess stress (like nba play) is put on that foot.
Why aren't they selling Rose's all star jersey?
Ahhhhhh finally Tyrus will get playing time!!!
Oh, wait. Nevermind.
