Around SBN: NFL Week One: Previews and Predictions for all 15 games

[From the Fanshots. All you need to know about tonight's game is the starting lineup. I can't even care too much about James Johnson not starting, he'll play plenty of garbage time in this garbage game. -ed.]

According to this article, Vinny is going with the three guard starting lineup, featuring Pargo, Murray and Law. How is Johnson not getting a starting spot? What positivity can be extracted from this?

"James gives our bench some much needed energy"

My only guess.

That or with everyone predicting a loss, he’s allowed to experiment his small ball to the max.

They lose, they were supposed to anyways. They win, he’s a genius.

Works for him.

Nice comment. :)

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

Heh!

Tyrus treatment. Are we in a playoff race or a race or not? Whats the point of him coming off the bench if you start that crap? So he can come into the game with an even bigger disadvantage?

by SoulEater7 on Mar 16, 2010 2:44 PM CDT reply actions

Or he goes for 25/10 off the bench, the Bulls loose

and management wonders why VDN didn’t start him-something to hope for.

by hlac on Mar 16, 2010 2:48 PM CDT up reply actions

They must want him to get him accustom to being Deng's backup.

I would think playing against better players gives you better experience.

That's the Ben Gordon treatment.

toni kukoc could school all the players in todays starting five

and ron harper is better than any guard starting today….so yea…

On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!

Brent Barry is a

better shooter than any of the guards the Bulls have.

Why can I not remember Andrew Lang?

I kinda do but I kinda don’t. I even looked him up and while he looks familiar in a Hawks jersey I can’t place him in a Bulls Jersey. I know he was there. That was the lockout season I believe. Biggest mistake Krause made was trading Pip for Mark Bryant. Pippen still had some good years left.

Sam Smith seems to advocate resting Rose and Deng for 3 more games

http://blogs.bulls.com/chicago_bulls_blog/2010/03/do-the-bulls-have-a-plan-to-make-the-playoffs.html

Starting this week, the Bulls and Raptors have similar closing schedules in terms of difficulty.

Both teams have 17 games remaining, each with nine at home. Both have five back to back sets. The Bulls play 11 against teams with winning records and the Raptors nine. But the Raptors have seven games against those at least 10 over .500 while the Bulls have four against those top teams, including two in the last week of the season when the Cavs and Celtics could be resting players.
The Bulls are 31-34. You figure 41 wins gives you a good chance to make the playoffs. Say the Bulls lose the next three to fall to 31-37. They’d need a 10-4 finish, though only two of those games are against teams well above .500.

i'm not going to bitch until i actually see it

maybe the reporter made a mistake. if not, VDN is dumber than we all thought.

by Basketball Smurf on Mar 16, 2010 3:21 PM CDT up reply actions

I hope so, I'm

just only watching the beginning of the game just to see if he runs that peace of shit line-up out there, how quick will one of those guards get the hook. If Rudy Gay doesn’t go for 30 on this line-up, he is out of my top 15 FA/RFA list.

I'm cheering for the Bucks, Scott Skiles, Bogut Jennings and Salmons

6 game winning streak, plus, they have our pick, go Bucks! lol

Yeah, what the absolute flying fuck

Holy gay…every time I think Vinny cant get any dumber or make a more retarted move, he out Vinnys himself. Seriously why the fuckpickle would Johnson not start. Nut fucking sack.

Why aren't they selling Rose's all star jersey?

by hongydraw on Mar 16, 2010 8:30 PM CDT up reply actions

I probably would if i didn't have class tonight.

It’ll be fun bad, and Memphis can be a fun team to watch.

Metal sharpens metal.

And this guy right here understands and knows what leadership is all about: The coach, the hall of famer......... Dick Butka! George Ryan

The Bulls shrink like a dick in cold water.

by dakoose on Mar 16, 2010 3:33 PM CDT up reply actions

I am DVRing the game...

So I can fast forward to the good parts…should be able to watch the whole thing in about 10 minutes.

Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.

I don't believe this

I can’t believe it. It can’t possibly be true. It must be a mistake in the article.

by JSlakov on Mar 16, 2010 3:15 PM CDT reply actions

Mngt still thinks James Johnson

is Jerome James. Honest mistake…its not like they don’t want him to develop

by Belize on Mar 16, 2010 3:49 PM CDT reply actions

Not Surprised By this at all

Vinny tries to be different. When ever bulls get on a run during games VDN calls timeouts. When ever players have good games he then benches them. His just trying to be different from NORMAL and THE RIGHT THING TO DO. VDN is on his way out next season he just wants to be remembered in history somehow…… even if its for being a sheer IDIOT.

by rick_ross on Mar 16, 2010 3:57 PM CDT reply actions

even worse, they like how acie approaches practice and theyre looking to turn acie law iv into an org. guy and sign him next year?

or vinny just loves him. it might explain why rose gets creamed and vinny does nothing while acie gets hit going to the basket and vinny gets a technical foul.

They might as well skip all the middle stuff

and give him a job as an assistant coach, like the did with Randy Brown.

I want James Johnson playing against the best players on the opposing team.

Throw him into the fire. I want JJ going against Rudy Gay, not Sam Young.

by benhertz on Mar 16, 2010 4:21 PM CDT reply actions

JJ could go for

30 on Rudy “All O but No D!” Gay

by QUINTEN DALEY on Mar 16, 2010 4:22 PM CDT up reply actions

This is a new low

I can only hope that this means Acie Law has secretly been replaced by a cyborg capable of making jumpers.

Brad Miller is god.

by Poloplaya14 on Mar 16, 2010 4:35 PM CDT reply actions   1 recs

Even Vinny can't possibly be this dumb

Acie Law over JJ? Really? Z-Bo and Gasol may combine for 50 rebounds tonight by themselves!

Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."

by bigballa10 on Mar 16, 2010 4:56 PM CDT reply actions

Anyone remember

a couple games ago (maybe 5) during garbage time when Ac turned the ball over and watched the other team run down the court and dunk? Thats heart baby! Start that guy.

Ac Law (unless signed by the Bulls) will be out of the NBA in 1 year.

Matter of fact i’d be willing to bet 10 of the Bulls current players will be out of the NBA in 1 year.

Same with VDN.

Amybe they can make a sick rec team. Run a 3 gaurd set with Jerome James ancoring the middle.

What a fucking joke. This guy is and always was CLUELESS.

I disagree...

No, wait… I don’t. Sorry, force of habit. I’m used to disagreeing with YFBB but this lineup is impressively bad.

Is it so horribly bad that the Bulls will somehow fall into a win? No.

by dasspunk on Mar 16, 2010 5:52 PM CDT reply actions

For whatever it's worth, it's for disciplinary reasons

http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/03/bulls-johnson-dropped-from-lineup-for-discipline.html

Johnson was late to practice. I’m not sure this is the best time to send a message, but as yfbb said, it hardly matters at this point.

Wow...what a bad move by Johnson...

He has the best game of his career, then follows it up by not being professional…and we all know how important being professional is to the organization.

Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.

I’m a WNBA groupie, wanted to be the father of Candice Parker’s child, but Sheldon Williams beat me to it.

After watching the game

Johnson got minutes so it wasn’t all bad. Law looked pretty good. Shame he was playing in front of Pargo during the last 5 minutes.

I really hope last night was Pargo’s last chance. Law, Murray, Kirk, [insert warm body here] are all better options.
