The Last 2 Games Did This To Me!

It's that time of the season again. Being a Chicago sports fan when all our hopes and dreams have came crashing down. But as a Chicago fan, we always look at things we can "feel good" about. Now, the last two Bulls games have been an eye sore, BUT one thing gave me hope for once.

To start, I have to say, all year I have complained about how bad James Johnson has looked on the court. He flashed point-forward goodness, but for the most part, junk. I have believed with a full competing roster, he would of been a D-League upcomer. That however (for now a tleast) has changed. I know the last two games in Florida have been filled with future non-Bulls and junk time players, but JJ showed me something. Maybe it is my internal sickness to look for something good in the bad (something I have learned being a life-time Cubs fan), but I saw something.

I saw the ball stick with JJ too much, bad defensive rotation, and the Ty Thomas sickness of wandering. I did see however, a 6-9 forward who brought the ball up with speed and didn't dribble it off his foot. I saw a player who shot the corner three and make it. He had a few drives (even though it was against the benches or on cruise control Magic) that showed he could get to the basket. Something he should of shown earlier in the season at a more CONSISTENT rate.

Now the next couple of weeks will be bad. There is still a small hope for me personally that we are not out of it. For the record, I will not only watch Bulls games, but from this point foward, any team that is against the Raptors, Ill root for. I see there losing streak as the only way we get into the playoffs for a 1st round exit. But for the Bulls games, I will look for a few things.....

1. The development of Johnson. I honestly have changed my stance on him. I can see him being a good 7th man. A good point-forward too, or I hope he can. We've had too many young players that were busts...Paging Mr. Fizer....

2. Watching to see if Deng can find his game again. He has shown some spots in the old Deng we have been waiting for, but for the most part, he's underachieving. I want to see him work more on the corner three he has been shooting this year. I also want to see him do good for 2 reasons.

2a. To get him back to where we want him, he can be a good player to go along Noah, Rose, and tbd free agent star (fingers crossed).

2b. Get him back to a player with value. If this is it, can we pawn him off to someone else and use that in free agency?

3. Really take a look at Warrick and Flip. We have 6 players under contract next year. That means, if we sign one star, we have little money to bring in other good pieces. These guys wont be the cheapest of cheap, but may be better fillers than Edgar Nahara (spelled really wrong but oh well, lol).

4. Acie Law was a lottery pick. He doesn't play much, but an end of rotation player. I want to see him play more. I saw some good drives (and horrible drives) against the Heats' 3rd stringers. Another cheap fill in perhaps?

5. JOE ALEXANDER.... why you ask??? Well.... I believe he could be the first player in awhile (ever maybe) to foul out in under 6 minutes. Is that morbid? Perhaps... but this guy is just another tall kid with wasted talent.

So for that, the last 2 games showed me JJ and what he can build on. Some things to look forward for in the next few weeks. And why Alexander will be a camp cut somewhere next season.

I agree with a lot of what you say

But Deng’s played as well this year as anyone could’ve realistically hoped. And there’s no need for him to take his game to a higher level. He is what you see: a solid complementary scoring option who can make plays without the ball on O and be an elite defender on the other end.

Also, in regards to Warrick, I really hope he plays well the rest of this year. Aside from the obvious reasons, I think we might be able to resign and use him in a S + T this offseason. He’s still pretty young, so he might be an attractive bargaining chip to use in a deal which might allow us to not give up other assets, like future 1sts, James Johnson, or the rights to Omer Asik.

Brad Miller is god.

WTF are you talking about?

And no the Bulls are not resigning Warrick.

Warrick

I think theres a possibility they re-sign him. If we end up with Plan c,d,f or whatever, we may have to fill the roster. You want more Lindsey Hunters and Pargo’s or Warrick who if on a one-year deal, will need to put numbers up to keep playing in the league and not see pine-time.

LOL

yer i laughed aswell…i never knew Deng made plays…i always thought he was an awful ballhandler

by rick_ross on Mar 14, 2010 4:57 PM CDT up reply actions

well...

i agree on Warrick, I like his play, but he needs to be more aggressive at attacking the rim and no fade aways… though it was junk time when he did it last 2 games…

On Deng, well, I am happy with what he has brought this year…. but at the same time, I see his game and know he can do more… I am not looking for all-star, he wont be that… but i am looking for more than a 24 point game followed by 8… Maybe what I am looking for is more conscensity….

And on Omer Asik… I heard or read somewhere that he still has 2 years till he can come over to the states if he choices… anyone know anything else on this???

Someone should start a list of all the different ways consistency has been spelled on this blog

(Assuming that’s what you were going for with conscensity) ; )

From what i've seen, Hakim Warrick will lucky to be in the NBA next year

Any nba GM who believes that Warrick is an attractive bargaining chip should be fired.

Warrick is good enough to be minimum salary,

deep bench filler.

We miss you, Tyrus Thomas and Ben Gordon!

if guys like devean george are still in the nba...

there is a place for warrick somewhere.

Devean George

should’ve been out of the league a couple years ago

It's a S + T

In the Rashard Lewis S + T, all Seattle got back was a 2nd round pick. I think Warrick has at least as much value as that.

Brad Miller is god.

I dunno. He costs money.

2nd rounders don’t have to for awhile.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

Its Very Simple

Any good/mediocre player that plays for another team…who then comes to the bulls…seem to just start sucking for some weird reason

by rick_ross on Mar 14, 2010 4:58 PM CDT up reply actions

but he sucked everywhere else too

We just have to trade him to one of the 14 teams not using advanced stats. Hope, hope.

Go Rockets/Nets[CDR]/Bucks[Jennings]!

I would to see

James Johnson in the post, it was riddiculous Vinny did not call any post plays for him, especially when he had James Jones guarding him
