Around SBN: Dissecting Nick Diaz's Positive Drug Test

I feel bad about what happened to my guy, D-Rose, in the Bulls game last night. We spent a lot of time together last summer going to China on that adidas trip, and I really think my guy is gonna be a star for a long time. But as it turned out, he got hurt in both games we played against the Bulls when we met at the rim.

As a big man, you never try to hurt anybody when they come down the lane. Me and Derrick are cool. I think he’s a great player and a great person. I never want to see him get hurt. But I always tell him, that if you come down the lane, always come off two feet. That way you’ll be on balance. You come off one all it takes is for somebody’s body to hit you and you’re going to fall.

It really upsets me when people say that I tried to hurt him. Like I told fans on twitter, why would I try to hurt one of my friends? That just doesn’t make any sense!

I hope he gets better and that there’s nothing seriously wrong with him. The last thing I would want to do is hurt anyone, especially one of my good friends.

dwight is a good guy

Its his job to protect the rim and thats what he did. Rose needs to bulk up more so he doesnt get injured as often

Rose is pretty tough...

I think Dwight is on to something when he writes about coming in to the lane with more control. Everybody loves the reckless abandon that Wade, and Iverson have defined their careers on, but if it gets Rose hurt, it’s no good.

2010... where relevant basketball in Chicago happens!

yeah but to do the things he does

He needs to be bigger and stronger. No other PG gets hit as much as him and have the abilities he has. For him to be a superstar (like he wants), he needs to be much stronger, to offset these injuries.

Derrick is already one of the strongest PGs in the league behind Billups and D Will. How much more would you want him to bulk up to, 230?

by C Smoove on Mar 13, 2010 6:29 PM CST up reply actions

I disagree

He hasn’t been especially injury-prone thus far. That might change as he takes more hits, but if that’s the case, there’s not much he can do except stop attacking (like what Vince Carter did).

Brad Miller is god.

Well

There are certain workouts that help prevent injury and tendinitis. These are the workouts he should do more often. He is pretty injury prone, when he falls, every once in a while, he looks in a lot of pain. For being in his early 20’s he should be able to spring back up.

by aznlildelfin on Mar 14, 2010 4:04 AM CST up reply actions

Maybe

But a couple minor injuries doesn’t mean he’s injury-prone. He’s missed 2 games so far in his career.

Brad Miller is god.

no he's not.

He’s got really wide shoulders, but he is not that big.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

Rose and Kobe are friends...

Rose to LA 2012

Why aren't they selling Rose's all star jersey?

by hongydraw on Mar 13, 2010 8:41 PM CST up reply actions

Honestly I have that happen in the back of my head too the way him and Kobe seem like big brother little brother.

by Camry on Mar 14, 2010 2:21 PM CDT up reply actions

Kobe is a superstar...

One of the best of all time. But come 2012, I’m not sure there will be too much appeal to play with him. Plus Rose will be unrestricted right, doubt we wont offer him the max.

Dunks on his head one day

Can’t we just wish D Rose well instead of focusing this energy on misguided hostility toward Dwight.

Yeah he seems pretty cool on top of it doesn’t even look like its his fault D Rose got injured. Wilbon was mentioning him working with a few old players like Isaiah Thomas this summer. So later he won’t be getting injured every time he runs into the paint.

Oh Dwight, you're forgetting about the third game where your team lost
But as it turned out, he got hurt in both games we played against the Bulls when we met at the rim.

Derrick on the fall:

“"Right when it happened, I was just thinking, ‘Not again,’" Rose said of the latest foul. "Right when I got hit I had a crick in my neck, everything. So it was like I was in a car accident or something. When you run into a guy like that, he’s definitely going to hurt you like that. Somehow, I’ve just got to brace myself going in there.

"I’m not angry at all; it’s just basketball. People get hurt like this all the time. I’m just trying to fight through it. I really didn’t have any wrist injuries. They definitely hurt. (Thursday) night, I was having problems just sleeping on it."
