Call me crazy, but how about we actually build around Rose?

It's easier in many ways to get players that compliment your guy, than it is to get players that your guy compliments. Derrick Rose should be Batman, not Robbin.

Star-divide

What I am getting at, is let's not spend every dime we've got on Wade, Lebron, or Johnson. If we are to sign an All-Star, it needs to be Bosh, Boozer, or Stoudemire. A player like that would allow Rose to flourish, and play at an even higher level, all while still getting better.

If we strike out on one of those three? David Lee is available, as are several other 2nd tier type bigs that fit the bill. Look, I don't have this master plan of exactly who to sign and how like a lot of the people on here seem to have.

I believe that the era of winning championships with a star center and star shooting gaurd is all but over. The NBA is unquestionably becoming a point gaurd dominated league. With Nash, Kidd, and Parker still around and playing at an extremley high level, the new generation of stars is absolutley point gaurd dominated. Rose, Paul, Williams, Jennings, Rondo, Evans, the list goes on.

I understand that the four best players in the league right now (Wade, James, Bryant, and Anthony) are not point gaurds. But with the exception of Kobe (who has all sorts of help around him), none of them have rings. Who has the best shot, besides Kobe, this year? It can be argued between James and Anthony...who happen to play withing Mo Williams and Chauncy Billups, respectively. Now, of course I understand that Anthony and James are the centerpieces of their team, but my point remains the same. To win a championship in the new era in the NBA, you need a star point gaurd. We are lucky enough to have one, and he is most likley going to be a top 3 of his generation at the position when it's all said and done.

Let's let Derrick be our main guy. If we get a star that compliments him, then excellent. If not, let's build a title team buy finding a roster that fits him perfectly. It's not easy, but there is no such thing as an easy way to build a champuonship contender in any sport (unless you are the worst team in the league, get pissed you dont win the lottery, and trade for Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett).

NOTE: It's not that I wouldn't be thrilled if we got Johnson, Wade, James, or Roy. All i'm saying is that if we are going for a star: Bosh, Stoudemire, and Boozer should be the first choices.

That's tough to accept

Rose may have a super high ceiling, but even if they do get one of three(four) bigs you proposed, who’s to say the Bulls get good enough draft choices to be considered pieces to build with?
Obviously Bosh is the biggest target, but again… relying on draft picks is risky. You never know who ends up a bust. I would rather not go and buy a championship like the Celtics did.

D-Wade will be shocked to find out his NBA Championship ring is a fake!

I understand that the four best players in the league right now (Wade, James, Bryant, and Anthony) are not point gaurds. But with the exception of Kobe (who has all sorts of help around him), none of them have rings.

P.S. It is “guard”.

We miss you, Ben Gordon!

Funny

I read this and was gonna say the same thing.

Bulls get us some D. Wade.

Sadly....through thick and thin....

I understand your point

But at a certain point the opportunity to get a guy like d-Wade overtakes the need to get a post player who’s a better fit.

LeBron: Hey Jerry, I’m finally a free agent and even though I’ve been keeping this a secret, I really want to play for the Bulls more than any other team.
Dorf: Well LeBron, I’m sorry, but Carlos Boozer fits better with Derrick Rose. He’s a power forward who can score down low.
LeBron: Yeah, but I play power forward better than he does, and it’s not even my third best position.
Dorf: I don’t care, Carlos just fits better with our team.

LOL

This post just got me thinking about trade rumors and the bulls. When ever bulls fail making a trade u always hear about it like 2 months later in some article about how they had the “chance” to make a trade or signing but it never happened.

Oh Wrigley Field! You have ruined us!

by Dash2112 on Feb 8, 2010 3:48 PM CST up reply actions

i agree totally

bosh should be the number 1 choice but we have to make sure the bulls can do something to persuade him, so far we’re in the playoff race and somewhat making a run’ and now all star derrick rose..if we make it through the first round that could be enough to get bosh. boozer and stoudemire are not too good of a down low player because of injuries and both lack the defensive edge of bosh

I gotta call you out. Of the last 20 NBA Champions, only one of those teams didn't have...

…a star shooting guard of star center (Detroit Pistons…who had Hamilton and Wallace manning those positions). The only “star” PGs who have won championships in the last 20 years are Tony Parker and Chauncey Billups. You can add Rondo to that list if you want but I won’t just yet. Before Billups and Parker, the last PG who led his team to a title was Isiah Thomas.

Now I’m not saying your point has no credence. In fact, I agree with you about building around Rose. But if you have a chance to ge LeBron James then you go for it. I don’t give a damn who else you got on your team.

i get what you're saying

and I did say if we got james, wade, etc i’d be thrilled. I just think that going in, if we are going to go full force and put all energy into somebody, it should be a player like bosh.

Why aren't they selling Rose's all star jersey?

by hongydraw on Feb 9, 2010 3:57 PM CST up reply actions

First off I agree with you this is D Roses’ team they will go as far as he’s allowed to take them. We all understand the teams pressing need for a true big and a 2 guard but don’t believe that they have to spend all of their cap money next season. It doesn’t seem like King James, Kobe or Wade ( unless the Heat do nothing to assemble a team around him) will be going anywhere.

Last night we saw what happens to the team when Rose isn’t playing he has no back up. I say make this trade for Thomas and Salmons for the Charlotte Bobcats Acie Law, Flip Murray and their 2010 first-round pick.. The Bobcats should have a high draft choice and Law could serve as a good back up to Rose. Murray would give us either a nice option to trade away or sign to bring off the bench.

Bosh and Johnson would be the 2 guys who he Bulls should go after or just Bosh next year and make a bid for Carmelo in 2011!

But I

thought our beloved Captain is suppose to step and be that guy to lead after the Rose went down and play the point, he needed to put the team on his back, I mean this is great “untradeable” Kirk Hinrich, #1 in our hearts the face a of the franchise and winning basketball, his thrust alone should’ve put us over the top.

Sorry for the grammatical errors, I was basking in the greatness of Kirk Hinrich.
