WTF happened?

He decided what the hell, I’m gone anyway?

Possible indication a definite trade is nearly complete?

All your base are belong to Vinny.

Wasn't too hard to see this one coming

With Noah out, and Tyrus still not getting much playing time he probably (finally) got fed up and lashed out. Can’t say I blame him.

it pisses me off too

although he has been a complete moron on the court for the most part

He played well against the Hornets I believe and Vinny didn’t even bring him back in the game.

by i_like_turtles on Feb 6, 2010 4:18 PM CST up reply actions

he was playing well against the sixers, too

and in a game where vinny was matching up deng with brand, we really needed him.

tyrus is a pretty impatient player to begin with, and he usually forces things, trying to "hit a home run"

every time he touches the ball. this of course has been exacerbated by his minutes getting jerked around, as its pretty typical for players in his situation to try to do too much in limited minutes. i think thats why hes been unusually… um… assertive lately.

by TheMoon on Feb 6, 2010 4:28 PM CST up reply actions

I can say that I blame him...

Way to put his agenda before that of the team…!!! Seriously, WTF has Tyrus done this season to entitle him to any minutes? His role is 15 minutes of filling time for the smart players, he should embrace that role for the next three months until he gets renounced in order to sign that max FA…oh, but its a contract year for Tyrus…he’s gotta get his!!!

Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.

good, i just want this team to loose.

i think loosing will increase the likelihood of a trade, and decrease the chance that the org. says

“well we want 2010 but the team was winning and kirk gives so much to us.” this season barely matters anyways.

dumb and dumber

Tyrus and the Org. They deserve each other. Forget any hope of us getting decent value in return for TT now.

That’s about as much as I can muster right now.

I can definitely understand where you're coming from

Actually, part of me agrees with you. But you have to ask yourself this: has Tyrus gotten a fair shot this year? And, imo, the answer is definitely “no”. It’s kinda hard to expect a player to just come in cold for a few minutes every game and make all of the right plays, especially when he realizes that the slightest mistake will lead to him being benched. It could very well be that he never figures it out and the Bulls were right and had him pegged all along, but I would’ve liked to see him get a better shot. Especially this year, on this team.

Vinny is dumber than Tyrus lets get that straight

playing brad miller 40 mins a night because u dont get along with a player or he screws up sometimes….VDN is just trying to make a point and it just went too far. TT needs to start now that Noah is injured. Even a High school coach could realise this

by rick_ross on Feb 6, 2010 5:40 PM CST up reply actions

Do you really think that VDN is that vindictive?

Say what you want to about Vinny, but he seems like a total players coach. I just think that he’s scared to death of being fired and either a) the org doesn’t want TT to get big minutes and Vinny is cooperating out of fear or b) he really thinks that Tyrus is too much of a wild card and thinks Brad and Taj give them a better chance to win. I highly doubt that Vinny is trying to prove some kind of point to Tyrus.

No, thanks to Tyrus Thomas,

we have another player out of the line up.

by BigBabyCollin on Feb 6, 2010 5:58 PM CST up reply actions

Whatever man, blame who you want.

But the fact remains that if Tyrus, didn’t yell at the coaches, he wouldn’t be suspended. I agree he should get more time, but that isn’t the way to get it.

by BigBabyCollin on Feb 6, 2010 6:53 PM CST up reply actions

Then seriously what is

I agree you can’t do that, but my goodness, even if he’s playing well he gets benched and has to sit and watch other guys suck it up all over the court. I’m just ready for him to be gone because this team is a joke.

That's a whole different issue that I have no idea what

the answer to is. All I know is that showing up the coaches never gets you anywhere in any situation.

Thats true

but in the end doesnt really matter…not like he was gona get any playing time anyways.

by rick_ross on Feb 6, 2010 7:00 PM CST up reply actions

I know

I’m probably just as frustrated as Tyrus is. It’s like it’s too much to ask that the guys who are playing well be on the floor as much as possible.

exactly, he was brought in as a player's coach

Right, when Vinny was hired when Pax did interviews he always said we need someone in here who get’s along with the players better.

Vinny said he’d have his door open for a player to have “popcorn” with him ( thats a direct quote from him June of 08.

by Jscho316 on Feb 6, 2010 5:56 PM CST up reply actions

its not hard to understand here. tyrus has a skill the bulls desperately needed last night.

it wasnt utilized because, as sam smith alluded to, vinny doesnt like tyrus. vinny let his emotions kill the teams chances of winning, however small they might have been. noahs success has nothing to do with this.

"Oooohhh, cat in the wall, eh? Now you're talkin' my language."

by TheMoon on Feb 6, 2010 7:44 PM CST up reply actions

thats if we even entertain your thesis, which is stupid since tyrus has the 4th best PER on the team

and the second best “simple rating” on the team He does annoying things but hes also a net positive… when he plays.

David Shuster

Tyrus was mouthing off after the game. So there you go.

by SoulEater7 on Feb 6, 2010 6:23 PM CST reply actions

David Schuster Reporting
Tyrus Thomas continues to spoil the broth. As the Bulls are furiously figuring out a way to deal the disgruntled forward Thomas is increasingly making it harder. The Bulls have suspended Thomas for what they are terming “Conduct detrimental to the team”. Apparently whether on the bench or following last night’s loss in Atlanta, Thomas let his emotions be heard as he berated the coaching staff for hardly playing him. It is true that he played only 5 minutes in the first half and just 16 overall but he certainly wasn’t productive totaling just 4 points and 4 rebounds.

This is not the first time that Thomas has caused the Bulls headaches with his childish act but it comes at the most inopportune time as the Bulls are trying to talk other teams into taking him off their hands. It also comes at a time when Joakim Noah is out and other players have assorted injuries.

This story isn’t even close to over and further ramifications could follow.

-David Schuster

Did you watch the game?

Doubt it…or you would have seen two bad goaltendings and one terrible running left handed layup in the lane…not to mention that 20 foot jumper early in the clock.

Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.

I have an idea, have a good player play badly,

then take him out of the game and DON’T LET HIM PLAY ANY MORE.
Man, Noah got dunked on? He had a turnover at the end of the game? Geez, we have to bench him for the rest of the game now! Oh wait, we lost the game because we didn’t have any rebounders in. I wonder how that happened.
Maybe it was magic pixie dust.

they just discussed it on the NBATV pregame show

They interviewed KC:

He basically echoed Schuster by saying that Tyrus’ “frustrations boiled over” by not getting enough minutes lately. He had some words for the coaching staff.

That was pretty much it.

by NormVanBeer on Feb 6, 2010 6:44 PM CST up reply actions

KC also said

the Bulls will definitely make a move by the trading deadline. He said to look for a salary dump (either Fish or Kurt). He said most likely the player to be traded is Kurt.

lol

dude, i honestly could care less at this point…i’ve mentally convinced myself that somehow he’s gonna play out his current contract (perhaps even his lifetime) for this team. It wouldn’t surprise me anyway.

I don’t dislike him (well maybe a little)…I just liked and valued BG way more. I was always on the BG side of the on-going Ben vs. Kirk argument.

I don’t hate Kirk, I just hate how this org constantly over-values him ever since he stepped onto the scene.

But to answer your question…maybe a 7 :)

by NormVanBeer on Feb 6, 2010 7:02 PM CST up reply actions   1 recs

heh

i figured it would be a 7…also yea i remember ure dislike from kirk is rooted more from what happened to bg as opposed to the actual player….one of the things i hated the organization for is creating such a civil rivalry between bulls fans…

He also had 2 steals and 2 turnovers

and for what it’s worth, he had the best +/- of the bulls team at -1.

Schuster sounds like a tool.

The stats aren’t that bad. If he wanted to make an argument based solely on points and rebounds, are Taj’s 11 points and 7 rebounds in 33 minutes better? How about Miller’s 10 points and 5 rebounds in 40 minutes?
Tyrus has problems, but they’re no in his stats, they’re in his efficiency, turnover %, and the fact that he needs to occupy the space around the basket ot be successful, which is the same place Rose, Deng, and Noah want to be as well.

I am so tired of this team

It’s no wonder that no team is willing to take on Tyrus, the Bulls basically screw themselves over by tanking his value barely playing him and then suspending him on a night like this. Why would any team willing to take on a player that you treat like trash?

VDN speaks

about the Tyrus thing

“It’s unfortunate timing, but in the short run, there’s a responsibility,” coach Vinny Del Negro said. “No one player is bigger than the team, and there’s a responsibility to do things right. … It’s not one person. It’s a group, and you have to be committed to what your role is on the team. You have to be committed to your teammates, your coaches, the organization. That doesn’t go just for Tyrus; it goes for everybody.”

by NormVanBeer on Feb 6, 2010 7:34 PM CST reply actions

"you have to be committed to what your role is on the team. You have to be committed to your teammates, your coaches, the organization."

Vinny repeats the word committed like he repeats the word….run, play, attack.

The only one in the Bulls organization who should be committed is Vinny Del Nincompoop and if he doesn’t get dumped soon for gross incompetence, all the Bulls fans who continue to follow this team will wind up being committed as well because his stupidity is going to drive many of them insane.

If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.

to be honest i think thats how vinny talks

every pregame inteview he tends to use “long and athletic” to describe the teams he plays…but he says it about ALL the teams he plays…if u ever hear him talk or give a speech he tends to use the same words over and over again did that in his first press conference and continues too…

This crap amazes me.

Tyrus is a really solid player on his good days unfortunately they come maybe once a month. instead of complaining about the coaching staff limits his minutes why not complain about how his boneheadedness is hurting the team. Tyrus has done nothing so far in his career to dictate that he deserves 30 minutes a game. His athleticism is incredible and I jump out of my chair every time he blocks a shot or throws down a dunk but when he consistently puts forth the least amount of effort on the team (lindsey hunter uses more energy just holding his head up on the bench) its tough to rout for a guy like that. I hope he does well wherever he ends up but right now he has played himself out of the lineup. Add to that attitude issues and he just isnt worth the trouble.

This makes four

This now makes FOUR top 4 picks overall (Jay Williams, Tyson, BG, & Tyrus) that the Bulls organization has failed to develop and/or will leave and the Bulls will get nothing in return. 4 in only 9 years I might add. Granted, the “Dookie Kinievil” incident was not really the Bulls’ fault, but still.

So disappointing.

We got J.R. Smith for Chandler! He’s developed into a fine outside shooter IMO, which is exactly what we need!!! Honestly it’s worked out pretty well so far right?… Right?
