Game Preview #47- Chicago .500ers vs. Philadelphia 76ers

[Thanks to TheMoon for today's game preview. Early 6CST start tonight -ed.]

Why should Philadelphia only be given a 57% chance to win this home game?  Elton Brand comes off the bench for these guys, and I kind of feel like if he played for the Bulls he would arguably be their best big.  And Iggy is probably the best player in this game tonight.  And the Bulls just dont have anyone who can score like Louis Williams.....

Yet the Sixers stink.  Badly.  Be it O or D, Philly can not play ball this year.  Its probably a coaching thing, since Eddie Jordan inherited a good defensive team and promptly reduced them to garbage.  He didnt help their offense either, which used to feed off their D.  But its kind of like the Clippers where they have a worse record than the Bulls, yet I feel they have more talent.

The 76ers live off two things: ORBs and TOVs.  Limit those and the Bulls should be able to choke this team's offense. Hopefully the Bulls are healthy enough to achieve these goals, particularly the ORBs.

As for the Bulls offense?  I really dont know.  Shoot good?  That's about it, right?  Derrick has been getting swamped by defenders recently, so I would guess Derrick needs to find his teammates early to get the pressure off himself; then he can go to work when the spacing improves.  His motto tonight: Facilitate early, assassinate late.  Awesome.

And for people who need inspiration, check out Liberty Ballers: these guys started actively rooting against their team, like, 15 games ago.

N.B.-- Apparently Iverson won't be playing tonight.  I don't feel anything about this.

No way is Iguodala better than Rose.

He’s basically equal with Deng and Noah (though Rose is only marginally better, I’d say).

I agree

Rose to a top 5 PG. I would only place Paul and Williams ahead of him at this point. Nash is getting old and the same can be said for Kidd. If anyone thinks Jennings can even smell Derrick’s jockstrap… lay of the processed cocaine.

Philly is a bad team

but they do have more talent like you said. Thaddeus Young is actually coming off the bench now and Brand is back starting. I’m pretty worried about us getting beat up inside by the way Noah looked last night. No AI will probably just mean more Lou Williams so it would probably be better for us if AI played. Being the second night of a back to back, a slightly earlier game and the travel, I expect a pretty crappy game. Unless Derrick has a big game and really exploits his matchup with Holiday/Lou Williams, we’ll struggle. 98-89 Sixers.

Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."

by bigballa10 on Feb 3, 2010 12:54 PM CST reply actions   0 recs

holiday is a good defender too, so AI being gone sucks that way.

I thought Iverson played for Memphis.

What?

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

Special Occasion

It’s in honor of ‘Lost’.

You are now functioning in a parallel timeline in 2002. Let me know how Jay Williams looks tonight.

Well, if we're in alternative LOST timeline...

Jay Williams is on his way to being the best PG in the NBA, BUT OMG THE SMOKE MONSTER JUST BROKE HIS LEGS.

Their blog is very fun.

Between the “Fire Eddie Jordan” T-shirts and this:

“Tonight’s game between the Sixers and Nets was possibly the worst professional basketball game I’ve ever watched, and it deserves the worst recap I’ve ever written.”

I think they give us a good run for our money.

Where’s the Fire VDN t-shirts YFBB? WHERE ARE THEY??

hey john, talk to me again when derrick rebounds well for his position, sets up teammates well for his position,

plays great D and scores more efficiently…. perhaps for more than 6 weeks.

scores more efficiently?

hmmmm. i could be wrong, but i could have sworn iguodala was shooting 42% from the field on the season. i’m sure it’s an efficient 42% though……………

the 76ers let Andre Miller go for nothing at the end of last season

so this season their offense started sucking even worse. that is why they suck now. None of those guys operate well in the half court. Its like you said, if we keep them off the offensive boards and don’t turn the ball over, we should win this game. I’m interested in seeing how Noah plays against all those bigs on Philly. If he can’t play well than Philly could have a field day on the offensive boards.
