On the very unlikely chance we land LeBron...

The Bulls plans in the summer of 2010 is to sign one of the guards (JJ or Wade) and then try and do a trade to get a PF (KC said this before a game before the all-star break.. not sure which one.  Can't find the link either).

What if the Bulls somehow got LeBron instead of the guards?  Deng has suddenly become very expendable, and a vital piece to trade for a PF.

What do you think the Bulls do with the trade?  Deng and who else for the PF?  Would the Bulls consider trading Rose to get that PF?  And finally, who might that PF be?  It's all just speculation, but it's kind of valid considering LeBron could still leave the Cavaliers.

well

i think the deng for jefferson offer could be revisited. it would be risky, but that would be a nice line up if jefferson is totally recovered from injury.

Actually I was thinking about this

I feel that Deng could play the PF spot. He has played well there in the past.

by LoveForTheGame on Feb 22, 2010 12:32 AM CST reply actions

That's interesting

If Deng works on his already decent post game.. No.. I think they would play the great Taj Gibson instead.

"Where are the FUCKING TWINKIES?"

Well my thinking is Deng can space the floor for a PF

and try to learn the three over the summer and mold his game after Jamison offensively. Then I hope LeBron can post up one in a while and Noah will improve his post game as well. I believe this could work. Unfortunately, Jamison and Lebron together are 0-2, so it might not work out. But if we get LeBron, it’s a win-win either way.

by LoveForTheGame on Feb 22, 2010 12:51 AM CST up reply actions

LeBron can play the PF

The Cavs do better when he plays there, I think.

Go Rockets/Nets[CDR]/Bucks[Jennings]!

by Prevenge on Feb 22, 2010 3:38 AM CST up reply actions

I was thinking that as well

We would probably have a starting front court that went LeBron, , Noah – but I could see a crunch time lineup of Deng, LeBron, Noah as the front court.

by torch on Feb 22, 2010 6:07 AM CST up reply actions

Actually not

LeBron only plays just over 10% of a game on average at PF. While LeBron’s PER and ORtg are higher at that position, his Win% goes down. LeBron plays better there, but likely due to the rest of the lineup that is in there, the Cavs are weaker.

That means the Bulls could play him at PF, although his performance level could change if his minutes at the position went up.

by DRose01 on Feb 22, 2010 7:23 AM CST up reply actions

i'd think

they could start both guys, and match up defensively depending on who they are playing… since there might be particular advantages to putting deng or bron on a certain person that night. kinda the way they typically put hinrich on the team’s best guard.

Its ok to dream

but seriously…Lebron will not play for the Bulls…ever. I’m pretty sure we wont even make an attempt at signing him. Might as well dream about Wade. We sign and trade deng + hinrich for Wade so he can get absolute max. Then we sign bosh (or David Lee/Rudy Gay if we are sleeping on the wrong side of the bed).

Rose
Wade
(Gay)
Bosh/Lee/Taj (at 30 min a game)
Noah

The alarm goes off…Lebron and Bosh signed with Miami, and the knicks got every1 else…back to reality and withering away at the cubicle. FML…

Why get both Lee and Bosh?

This is not Live. but the Magic never get that memo

by T.Moore on Feb 22, 2010 10:22 AM CST up reply actions

Why would we not attempt to sign him?

The best player of his era.. and we just won’t make an attempt? If he actually is available, and leaves Cleveland, any GM who doesn’t make an offer for him that has max contract space available should be fired.

It’s fine to think he won’t come here, but to think we wouldn’t make an attempt? Do you really think GarPax are that bad at their jobs they wouldn’t make an attempt to sign the best player available.

by Grinder in Training on Feb 22, 2010 10:35 AM CST up reply actions

I agree

he is hands down the best FA available, but at the same time how does it look to Dwade, or Bosh, if we offer Lebron the max, wait for him to turn us down, and then approach them. These 3 are the absolute top dogs, and this is a huge decision for them. They will go where they are wanted, where they fit in, and where they see opportunity to win. The money is a guarantee for each of them, and you are naive to believe that any of these guys would accept sloppy seconds from an organization, when certainly their current teams, and others as well, will agressively pursue them as their first choice. If we have any hope at getting one of them, we need to go balls to the wall at one, and hope he likes what we have to offer.

Also from any rumor i have read or heard, seems like we want Bosh or Wade, and also that Lebron doesn’t want to live in Mj’s shadow. I feel like people will talk, and despite this blog’s general attitude toward garpaxdorf, they must have inside knowledge that will give them an idea as to who has the most potential to actually sign with us.

I never said Bosh and Lee, I said Bosh first, and Lee if that doesnt work out.

by Pax_4_Prez on Feb 22, 2010 11:08 AM CST up reply actions

Couple things

Fine if Lebron doesn’t want to play here. That doesn’t change the fact that the Bulls should attempt to sign him. I’m not saying he’ll sign here. But if they don’t attempt to sign him, you fire GarPax. No questions asked, they are fired. You attempt to sign Lebron James no matter what you’ve heard.

Second, are you serious? You really think Bosh and Wade don’t understand how much better Lebron is? They aren’t dumb. They won’t be insulted if we make an offer to LeBron. You have to be naive to think they don’t know that the Knicks, Clippers, Bulls, Nets and anyone else who can, will all try to sign Lebron James first.

If I’m Wade or Bosh, and a team didn’t try to sign Lebron, I’d be concerned the front office has no idea what they are doing.

by Grinder in Training on Feb 22, 2010 1:59 PM CST up reply actions

Assuming Wade/Bosh

do agree that Lebron is by far the most coveted, what does it show to them if we instantly go after them and offer the (standard) max. Instead of letting Miami/Toronto openly negotiate and “make moves” we already have a legit offer on the table. This is a decisive moment, and the money will be the same everywhere, so it will surely take some “woo-ing.” Hometown (wade), big market, endorsements, you be the star (bosh), play next to Drose (better for bosh…) deng, noah, and have a plan about getting more pieces going forward and building a championship. We can legitimately show either of these two that we can and are prepared to build a championship with them. They fill the void for our team at shooting guard/pf. The pitch to Lebron would be that we want you cuz you are Lebron, and we would most likely need to trade Deng for it to make sense to have him fit in our lineup. And trading Deng could be useful in a sign and trade, but also will take away from our nucleus that some view as one of the most attractive things about us.

by Pax_4_Prez on Feb 22, 2010 4:19 PM CST up reply actions

No.

You don’t have to trade anyone. It’s Lebron James. You can figure out what to do with the rest of your roster once he gets there.

by Grinder in Training on Feb 22, 2010 8:24 PM CST up reply actions

No, you figure what you're going to do before hand

So he knows you have a plan. Otherwise he stays in Cleveland.

As a basketball fan

I wouldn’t mind seeing that.

The Bulls are in a much better position...

than almost any other team with cap space. It would be foolish not to send an entourage to recruit LBJ if there’s even a slight chance he could leave Cleveland. Where else is he gonna go? NYK? Even with 2 top FAs they don’t seriously have the pieces. Miami, same diff. The lowly Nets? The Paper Clips?

Go out and get one player for full max (has to be one of the top three James. Wade Bosh) and sign and trade to get a second FA (Johnson, Boozer, Stoudamire). Bulls should be sending emissaries to all three top FAs, and making overtures to other potential FAs. If we can get Bosh and Johnson or Boozer and Wade, I’d say we improve…even if that means losing Deng and/or Kirk…

by Carlitro on Feb 23, 2010 10:32 AM CST reply actions

Preach Brotha!

If we get Lebron ( which is VERY possible) i could care less about losing Deng and/or Hinrich. They’re both great players and all…but C’MON!

I just hope the Bulls show some initiative and GO AFTER Lebron.

Instead of just sitting on their hands waiting for the call. Fortune favors the bold!

did, knocking on Bron, Bosh, and/or Wade’s door at 12:00am, July 1
