Pilgramage for Pippen
I'm extremely excited to hear Scottie Pippen is a finalist for the Hall of Fame this year. As a long time Bulls fan, Scottie Pippen was ALWAYS my favorite player. Did he benefit from Jordan? Yes and no, he did benefit from softer defenses due to Jordan's god-like abilities, but I can assure you Pippen was not the man that you rotated away from. Typically it was Horace Grant who benefited the most. Grant and Cartwright were the "weaker" offensive players so it usually meant that their defenders shifted to help out on Jordan. The reason I stated "no" was that in many ways I felt Scottie Pippen was held back some due to Jordan running the show. Granted he would not have 6 championships without Jordan but I think his career numbers would be much higher as a #1 featured player. Having a security blanket in Jordan kind of kept him as second fiddle and hence second option of the offense.
Eight straight All-NBA Defensive First Teams;Six Championships;
Either way you view it, I think we can all agree that Scottie Pippen is a talented player. I feel he is all but a lock to get selected into the Hall of Fame this year. As such, I have started to make my plans for my Pilgramage to see Pippen inducted in Springfield MA. Luckily, I live in NJ so it should only be about a 6 hour car ride. Are any other Bulls fans planning on being in attendance? Are you coming from IL?

Scottie Pippen
Ultimate Team Player and 2nd Banana to the KIng.
If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.
Elbert Hubbard
That would be cool but
No not me
Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."
I won't engage in a pilgrimage, but I will happily engage in any and all hero worship of Scottie Pippen.
Because he was kind of the shit.

I had no idea that he lived in Jersey. Weird.
But in all honesty, Scottie was the man. Underrated and overlooked for many years…
I’m glad MJ acknowledged him during his HOF speech, a nice tip of the hat on an otherwise backhanded tipping of the hat night.
Scottie was THE BEST player in the league during MJ’s first retirement. What a joy it was to be a fan during those years, knowing that your team not only had the league’s best complete player, but TWO best complete players on the same team for nearly a decade.
I think that comes down to having these guys go at each other in practice every day. How can you be the best unless you consistently play against the best?

every time I watch the 6 DVD Bulls Championship run set...
i am astounded at his athleticism, defense, and basketball IQ.
he was LeBron James before there was a LeBron James.
sadly, Scottie will never get the TRUE recognition he deserves because he played in MJ’s giant shadow.
Sometimes a player's greatest challenge is coming to grips with his role on the team.

Maybe not
but this is pretty good
Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."
This guy was a defensive nightmare
They replayed an old Knicks-Bulls playoff game from 93 last week on the MSG network and I was just amazed at the level of defense played by both teams but Scottie still stood out to me. The incredibly long arms, the quickness, the strength, the speed, he could guard damn near anybody on the court. He was awesome in his day.

Scottie was a beast. He took the Bulls to finals without Mike. I know he didn’t officially but we all know Hue Hollins fucked up the call. A team with Pete Myers starting at SG. 55 wins with a team starting Pete frickin Myers. Scottie was always a favorite. He could do everything on the court great…scoring, defending, passing.
Dude basically was LeBron without the muscles and crab dribbling.
It irks when people make it seem like Pippen just rode Jordan’s coattails. The Bulls were pretty shitty before Pip came along as far I remember
The NBA should release a Scottie Pippen DVD collection.
3-6 of his best/most memorable games.
