you guys can't make up your mind

kill pax for overvaluing players with “potential” like deng

kill garpax for cutting their losses with a headcase

Tyrus is not and never will be a starting caliber player on a championship team whereas you can make an argument for Rose, Noah, Deng, and even Hinrich. We are going for Bosh who is also championship caliber player. WE had to rid ourselves of an inconsistent guy in his contract year, or rid ourselves of a more consistent guy in his rookie contract. Either way, one of these two guys is gonna be a backup for us next year, why would you keep Tyrus and get rid of Taj when you don’t have room to pay Tyrus

about making some mistakes early (and I’m watching the game now, he had two quick shots right when he checked in), and Brown telling him to go ‘fix it’ instead of pulling him.

with other cities/franchises, where there is not a full court press to devalue a guy who they don’t want to pay and turn him into a headcase so he’s easier to dump, actual breathing living nba talent is appreciated.

Fine,

the last ten games when he has averaged under 50% shooting he has averaged just about 21 minutes. Perhaps, it is an indication of Larry Brown letting him play through his mistakes indicated by the quote Tyrusmancrush put up before, “Coach has already gotten on me, but I like that he gets on me and then lets me go out and fix it. I’ve never had that before.”

compared to VDN with a full roster, it's an improvement

but I will reserve judgement on Brown’s minutes distribution. The new guy usually doesn’t play too much so that could be a factor, but not a good sign that with Tyson hurt, Theo Ratliff came in before Tyrus. Oh, Larry :)

Sorry jpchi but Tyrus converted 38 of 61 during that time which comes out as

making 62.3% of his shots, by far, the best shooting % on the Bulls. When he was traded his shooting % of .483 was 2nd only to Noah’s.

The only guys on are team that fits that description,is Derrick Rose and Noah.TT had 1 good game he has good defensive skills, but he is not Shaq or Howard ! He was a cry baby when he was here,we were going to loose him any ways,so the bulls org made the right call.

by bears rock on Feb 20, 2010 1:18 PM CST up reply actions

It's snowing! Global Warming must be a HOAX!

That’s the equivalent of drawing any meaningful conclusions from TT’s first game as an ex-Bull.

Now, let’s listen to what someone who is in a rather BETTER position to judge the trade. You don’t have to be a mind-reader to get the main point:

“The people we lost, I’m sad we lost them because they helped us. But the organization saw something in these players. They’re going to help us. They don’t have any attitude problems. They just want to ball.”

                              â€“ Derrick Rose

by badnewsintennisshoes on Feb 20, 2010 2:04 PM CST reply actions

Actually, the so-called scientist, who was caught cooking the books,

and on whose data the entire GW theory was based (when asked for his documentation under the freedom of information law, he said he lost all his notes since 1986, how convenient), belatedly admitted that the temperature of the earth has not risen since 1996.

Those of us who have defended Thomas don’t have to look out the window to see if it’s snowing to conclude the denigration of Tyrus is based on a HOAX. That is, rather than looking at the numbers, they twist facts and misconstrue comments to make their case.

Right after Tyrus was suspended, Rose said he had no problem with it, that Thomas had apologized to everyone and listen up…he further added …..we need him for his defense, his rebounding, and yes, his scoring.

So when D Rose said he was sad seeing them leave BECAUSE THEY HELPED US, can you explain his cryptic meaning since you are obviously a mind reader? His final comments….they don’t have any attitude problems, they just want to ball, likely could have been referring to Thomas who wouldn’t have had an attitude problem if he had gotten a fair shake in Chicago. Then again, he could have been simply talking about his new teammates who have also been given a new start are were looking forward to it.

As Tyrus said “I think that a lot of people have a perception of me based on what they read instead of giving me the opportunity to show the real me. Different scenery for me can be real good.’’ Referring to the Bobcats management…”They’re excited to have me. I’m thrilled they’re excited."

What a difference a day makes.

Right...

“…could have been referring to Thomas who wouldn’t have had an attitude problem if he had gotten a fair shake in Chicago.”

Sure, it was all the fault of the Bulls and the THREE coaches who coached him.

Again, I’ve said all along that he may improve in a different environment, but to argue that the Bulls should have kept him (and played him more, etc., etc.) is both baseless and tedious.

and VDN, who has nothing to offer except random motivational platitudes?
Ehhhhhh.
The Bulls should’ve gotten a better coach, etc., etc. It didn’t work out. They got what they could for him at the deadline, whatever. He wasn’t going to improve here, and while that’s partially his fault [for being a raw prospect who needed to be teached and coached up … but Paxson picked him knowing that! … oh well, GJ Pax], the Bulls don’t get a free pass.

Go Rockets/Nets[CDR]/Bucks[Jennings]!

that the Bulls should never have hired VDN. But given that he was here, there wasn’t any other reasonable option than to ship Tyrus out.

by badnewsintennisshoes on Feb 20, 2010 5:46 PM CST up reply actions

To be fair

Is Tyrus even going to try to score in Charlotte? Just cleaning up the glass for putbacks and backdoor cuts should get him to the 12 pt range. If he gets hacked he’s a 15ppg scorer. But if he gets 12 boards and 3 blocks a night doesn’t that mean he’s an all star?

scoring

“But if he gets 12 boards and 3 blocks a night doesn’t that mean he’s an all star”

Um, no.

by badnewsintennisshoes on Feb 20, 2010 3:01 PM CST up reply actions

12 boards, 3 blks, 12 (15)pts will get you a low rung All Star spot

Unless Tyrus’s image has been crushed by the Bulls for everyone else around the league, then no way coaches vote him into a All-star spot with those numbers.

All your base are belong to Vinny.

he missed a few jumpers

and they even ran a backdoor lob for him. Already a vast improvement over the ‘just…stand there. and play’ offense.

I'm watching the game right now and Tyrus is highly active

He’s playing like he was at LSU. He’s everywhere.

He's back to his rookie season.

Just go out there and wreak havoc, if you score hooray, if not, well no one was expecting it.

Bobcats looked really fun last night

I hope they’re on ESPN and stuff so I can actually watch them in the future if that keeps up. Wallace is cool, but TT too? Yay running and dunking.

Go Rockets/Nets[CDR]/Bucks[Jennings]!

by Prevenge on Feb 20, 2010 5:39 PM CST up reply actions

Tyrus, Wallace, Chandler, and Theo Ratliff?

That’s a hell of a shotblocking, dunking group right there. I think a team like the Celtics could be in trouble against them.

If they ever meet in the playoffs, a team like the Bulls could also be in trouble against them.

My list of pain

Hardest things for me to watch as a Bulls fan the past few years:

-Watching Eddy Curry score 19 in his first game for the Knicks the season after he appeared to finally ‘get it’ and help the Bulls get to the playoffs (and I don’t care that he ballooned shortly after this, I think he had a lot of us believing in him).
-Watching Tyson Chandler turn into a double-double machine and slamming home alley-opp after alley-oop with Chris Paul.
-Watching Elton Brand avg. 20 pts/10 rebs/2 blks/1 stl (and being the elusive big man Chicago could never seem to have/keep) for a playoff-bound Clippers team.
-Watching Ben Gordon drain acrobatic crunch-time 3-pt shots against the defending champs during last year’s playoffs, while also knowing he’d be gone shortly after season’s end.
-Watching Tyrus do the things we loved watching him do for another team. Best of luck to Tyrus, I do want to see him do well. But I also don’t like how this feels. We should’ve been the ones arguing over his goddamn nickname.

I wonder if Tyrus and Tyson will become best buddies

Talk late into the night about all their horror stories about a crazy Bulls franchise.

I already think Larry Brown is ruining Tyrus' development

25 minutes, and that’s with Chandler and Nazr out. Theo Ratliff is the first big off the bench. Come on Larry!

At least Tyrus did play down the stretch in the game last night.

ha!

if LB can’t coach TT, then nobody can. I can’t remember dude’s name, but the guy who dunked on Ratliff last night…just damn

by NormVanBeer on Feb 23, 2010 3:13 PM CST up reply actions

25 minutes

is still more than Vinny was giving him before he blew up at him. Plus, Tyrus one of only 3 guys off the bench to even play and he got more than DJ Augustin and Derrick Brown combined. I think it’s pretty encouraging with the way Larry Brown is.

I was sorta tongue-in-cheek

it’s been fine so far, but Larry’s history and a return of some veteran bigs has me worried for my guy Ty.

Ah

sorry didn’t pick that up. Larry can turn on a guy at any moment so I’m a bit cautious with my optimism as well.
