Knicks now acquiring TM-EC in Rockets/Kings 3-way
Knicks shed Jefferies in the deal, so they potentially could have cap room for two max FAs.

Daryl Morey came away with a pretty ridiculous haul
Dude basically trades Landry and takes on Jeffries to get Kevin Martin, Jordan Hill, a better first round pick next year, and a first rounder in 2012. Damn.
Thrusting toward the playoffs, one game at a time.
And nothing against Landry
But I’d be surprised if he finds the same success outside of the Rocket’s magical role-player enhancing machine

Morey is an evil genius. NYK is going to look dumb when they end up with Joe Johnson and a re-signed David Lee both on max deals out of it.

But who wouldn't want to go play with New York's awesome core
of Chandler, Gallo, and Toney Douglas?!?!?!
Thrusting toward the playoffs, one game at a time.
Chandler
is for real… the other two ? Time will tell… playing with LeBron sure did wonders for Mo Williams.

Yep
I think his stats look good. And he seems like a solid player when i’ve seen Knicks games.

Chandler is overrated. He's average at best. He's like a lot of other wings. He's got some value because he can create
his own shot a little, but he’s not all that good. He’s gotten better every year and he’s only 22, so maybe he’ll be above average or good someday, but he’s not as good as some make him out to be just because he occasionally scores 30+ points in a night.

They are going to look awesome
when they sign LeBron and Wade.

Then who will be left for the Bulls?
Chance of a collosal whiff in FA just got much larger. Hoooray for the 2010 plan that could potentially see the bulls give up a #3 pick and a #2 pick for nothing.
heh, yeah I always thought the plan sucked
but once #3 pick was gone, at least they’re going all the way for it now.

Not ALL the way. Going all the way for it would be to have dumped Hinrich's awful deal.

still worth the risk for the Knicks
they were going nowhere regardless. This at least gives them a chance, and I actually think getting two guys to commit will be easier than getting only one (since there’d be little around only one).

good point. It can only help them, but I was just having sour grapes cause they moved their crummy contract
and the Bulls are still stuck with Kirk.

who knows...
NYK is now primed to get two max guys. But if Wade gets help and stays and LeBron now stays with Jamison, Bosh is the other max guy available. Bosh would be dumb to go there by himself, he’d go to Chicago where he already has help.
depends really on the players
if they like NY or Chi, Ewing or Jordan, Spike Lee or MVP, Hot Dogs or Hot Dogs
Current teams driving the full boat
Bulls, Knicks (x2), Nets (x2), Heat (x2 if Wade leaves), Clippers, Wizards, Kings.
There will be a lot of fresh bad contracts for the owners to complain about next year.

Yes, there will be many busters getting overpaid next season
Teams with money will be compelled to spend it (on trash).
As we prepare to battle the Bucks for 2011 free agents.

Durant in 2013
that’s the real target. Either him or John Wall in 2016.
Hope. It is the best of things.

Why...
would they need Wall if they’ve got Rose?
Plus, unless OKC is crazy there’s no chance Durant gets out of there without a max contract offer.
Then again, Hinrich might finally be off the books by then so there might be some money to work with. I mean, if we’re smoking stuff we might as well smoke the good stuff.
Just setting myself up
for the next organizational “plan”. Sarcastically.

Relax! We're going to get David Lee.
and then watch Funk complain about his defense until 2015.

Thanks, I've been trying to put all the pieces together and catch up
It’s good to see it laid out in front of me. Looking at this, I think it’s pretty unlikely the Bulls get a max guy when there are potentially 3 different teams where 2 max guys can play together. I think they’ll either have to max out some lesser guy (Joe Johnson, David Lee) or add a few smaller free agents to fill out the roster (Mike Miller, Kelenna Azubuike, Travis Outlaw).
Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."
yeah...this is a problem
The truly max guys are Wade, Bosh, and LeBron. It’s highly likely all of them stay, or 2 go to play together.
Then you have the next tier, which will be overpaid as max guys by teams striking down on those first 3. Would the Bulls do that? On the one hand they don’t like handing out mega contracts and we’d have to get the Reinsdorf airplane tour, on the other they did so for Ben Wallace.

Of those teams, Bulls and Heat are in the playoffs right now
I don’t understand why a FA would want to go to a desolate team with no supporting cast (like the Knicks and Wizards). Hopefully the Rose/Noah/Deng triumvirate of power entices Chris Bosh.
Nets have a supporting cast
Harris, Lopez, and top pick, plus another FA.

Harris stinks right now, but he might just be moping.

Lebron loves Wall
and the Nets have the greatest chance of getting him through this draft
by LoveForTheGame on Feb 18, 2010 5:30 PM CST up reply actions
Clippers have potentially great cast too
face it, the identity of ‘playoff team’ is mostly perception. Bulls are mostly fortunate to be in the east and have a group of good dudes. In terms of potential supporting talent they’re not that far ahead.

perception goes an awful long way though.
"Oooohhh, cat in the wall, eh? Now you're talkin' my language."
does it?
so far only on national TV broadcasts.

well im guessing the players have some say in what they do, and almost everything i hear out
of a players mouth seems to have come from a national tv broadcast.
"Oooohhh, cat in the wall, eh? Now you're talkin' my language."
but that is not really the question. its the wrong way to look at it
Its not a single question. Its a series of question.
The first question is, can the Bulls entice Bosh, Lebron or Wade to leave their teams? All 3 of those teams are in the playoffs. One of those is likely going to the finals, the other has room to bring in a max player (without giving up their max guy) and the other is toronto (sorry Raps). If Bosh goes to Miami and Bron stays in Cleveland now what?
The question than becomes are the Bulls willing to pay as much as those teams for second tier free agents. Yeah, Lee might think the Bulls can win more than the Knicks. But he also might think that this may be the biggest contract he is going to get in his life, so he had better take the most money available. Which leads to our final question -
If a bidding war breaks out for second tier free agents, are the Bulls willing to pay enough money and years where the Bulls superior supporting cast actually becomes a factor. If I’m any of the second tier free agents, I’m not taking a penny less to play with the Bulls. Why? Everyone knows what the owners want to do – this may be these players last truly HUGE contracts. They would be foolish, not to follow the money.
