The Best Case Scenario For The Bulls.

Now that we have cap-space to land a top Free-Agent what is the best case scenario for us this off-season?

I think we should target Chris Bosh - If we land Bosh we will have a hole to fill at the SG position and we all know Kirk is not the long-term answer for the position. We really would need a shooter who could stretch the defense and create room for Rose and Bosh to operate.

We currently have a draft pick that will fall somewhere in the middle of the 1st round. The best player available that would fill a need would be Xavier Henry of Kansas. Right now Draftexpress.com has him projected as the 15th pick, which would be around where we would be picking. Henry is a 6-6 lefty who can shoot the lights out and is only 19.

If we were able to draft him we would have a three-guard line-up of Rose, Henry and Hinrich. With Rose, Bosh and Deng Henry would not have to carry the scoring load and could focus on his D and spot up shooting. As far as bigs we would have Bosh, Noah, JJ and Taj. I assume Asik will be available next season and we could always bring Miller back on a smaller salary.

I think this is the most realistic and best case scenario for the Bulls this off-season. Bosh would be the oldest player in that starting line-up at 26. Rose would be 22, Henry 20, with both Deng and Noah 25. Our line-up would look like this:

PG - Rose / Hinrich / D-leaguer ?

SG - Henry / Hinrich / D-leaguer ?

SF -  Deng / Johnson / Minimum Vet ?

PF -  Bosh / Gibson / Richards ?

C-     Noah / Miller / Asik

This team would have everything you could want. Outside shooting (Henry, Deng and Kirk), Low-post scoring (Bosh, Gibson) , Defense (Deng, Kirk, Bosh, Noah, Gibson), Shotblocking (Noah, Gibson, Bosh), Rebounding (Deng, Noah, Bosh, Gibson) and Superstars (Rose, Bosh). Give me your thoughts and let the race to 2010 begin!

So you don't waste precious time and attention

on someone not interested to begin with. We put all our energy into signing LeBron, it’s 2000 all over again. I’d go hard after Bosh first and foremost, as he seems like a better fit here, and unlike LeBron, isn’t only being tempted by the media market in NY. We’re James’ 4th choice (Cle, NY, NJ).

I don't agree with this

I don’t see how going after James decreases our chances of getting Bosh if we don’t sign James. We might as well try. And honestly, I think we’re a much more attractive destination than the Knicks.

Xavier Henry is not leaving Kansas

As a long-time Kansas fan, his big-12 play has been one of the biggest let downs I’ve seen in all of my fanhood. Either he finishes the year amazing, or he’s staying put.

All the more reason to leave

If he’s still gonna be projected as a mid-1st rd pick, he’s definitely gonna bolt instead of risking the chance of his stock falling even more.

His stock can only go UP

If he stays. He’s shooting 20% in Big 12 play. He averages about 19 points per game against bad teams. Around 8 against good ones. NBA scouts don’t miss that.

Best case scenario is Kirk’s contract moving to the Lakers today.

why?

I’m not even quite sure about how I feel on this matter but I’m curious what your reasons are for trading him at this point…

by Pax_4_Prez on Feb 18, 2010 8:40 AM CST up reply actions

We should keep Kirk for the remainder of the season.

by sweetneyisfat on Feb 18, 2010 8:48 AM CST up reply actions

I like Kirk too, but it's time to let go.

Trade hm to insure that we have as much cap space as possible. Moving Salmons was a nice start but we still need to clear more space. It’s time for the Bulls to be an elite team not a .500 team so I’m willing to risk not making the playoffs this year to even have a chance to ever be a real contender. I just don’t feel it’s worth it to keep Kirk as a 9 mill per year glue guy. Glue guys are only viable for real contending teams that have a chance to actually make it past the 1st round. I just can’t justify keeping Kirk as a 9 million dollar backup PG and he is not a viable long term SG either so basically can we afford to have our 3rd guard making 9 million. I just don’t think so. I’m not a Kirk hater, I like his game but I just want the Bulls to be great not mediocre anymore.

Best case scenario, IMO, is this...

Sign LeBron. Flip Deng to Minnesota for Jefferson.
That leaves us this lineup:
Rose
Hinrich
LeBron
Jefferson
Noah
I’d call that the best starting lineup in the NBA.

As for the bench, I’m not gonna speculate on who we draft just yet, because there are a lot of undetermined variables in that equation, but we’ll have whoever that guy is + Gibson and James Johnson for sure. Bring over Asik to be our backup center. Then, if we have any cap room left (I haven’t run the numbers so I don’t know if we’ll have enough), we could look to sign a guy like Raja Bell or Mike Miller. If we don’t have cap room, I’d look to get a guy like Eddie House or Jason Kapono on a minimum deal.

Obviously, this isn’t very likely, but I’d say this is the best we could hope for.

decent

I like this scenario a lot. The only thing I would say should improve is the bench players. If we have a roster like that, we will definitely need some key bench players besides Kirk, Taj, and JJ

by jaykilla3 on Feb 18, 2010 5:12 PM CST reply actions

imho, best case scenario is

getting one of the big 3 (my preference being Bosh) to sign very early in free agency, then to re-sign Miller and Murray and sign Anthony Morrow as a free agent

lineup would be

Rose/Hinrich
Morrow/Murray
Deng/Johnson
Bosh/Gibson
Noah/Miller

then throw in our draft pick and random end of the benchness

Why aren't they selling Rose's all star jersey?

by hongydraw on Feb 19, 2010 4:32 AM CST reply actions

Best case scenario

Rose/Wall
Wade/Durant
Lebron/Carmelo
Bosh/Nowitzki
Howard/Noah

What I predict will happen:
Rose/Hinrich
MikeMiller/Hinrich/Murray
Deng/Johnson
Lee/Gibson
Noah/Miller
