if true, i'd guess it helps

simply because i doubt the knicks will get another taker for jeffries, hindering their status as 2010 players. i doubt how true the TMEC coming here ever was, and even if it were so, i doubt it wouldve even been much help for us since houston was adamant that they didnt want kirk or fish. my guess is other than a lateral tyrus for another expiring and/or draft pick type move, we’re pretty much done.

Here's some more information on the trade...

From Yahoo Sports

And for those too lazy to click:

Along with Martin, the Kings will send Sergio Rodriguez, Hilton Armstrong(notes) and Kenny Thomas(notes) to the Rockets. Joey Dorsey(notes) and Carl Landry(notes) will go to the Kings.

@STEIN_LINE_HQ And if it doesn’t expand into a NYK 3-way, issue then becomes whether Kings buy out T-Mac before March 1 so he’s playoff-eligible elsewhere 9 minutes ago

3 way?

anyway, Bulls can nudge in and get martin?

ITS MARTIN FOR TMAC
The Houston Rockets, in an abrupt late twist to their long-running efforts to trade Tracy McGrady, have an agreement in place with the Sacramento Kings to acquire coveted guard

Ive been screaming for the Bulls to get this guy and put him next to Rose

everyone kept saying that the Kings would not trade him and that Evans was a true PG yada yada. Now look they ship him off to Houston for trash and Landry. Im sure we could have done better than the Rockets deal. The kid is 2 years younger than Joe Johnson and has a smaller deal. This was basically a salary dump for the Kings.

I know if we would have traded for him it would have killed our 2010 dreams. Oh well we better get Wade or Bosh now or I will be hugely dissapointed. Well I guess the Rockets are a up and coming team now.

Wade 2010!!!!!

I think the Kings

Really like Landry.

kevin martin

is kind if a whiny douche who hasn’t played missed fewer than 10 games only once in his career.

he’s good, but he’s hurt more than luol deng. :P

Landry is AMAZING.

I don’t know if the Rockets actually won this trade.

Go Rockets/Nets[CDR]/Bucks[Jennings]!

I’m surprised the Rockets trade Landry, he’s been their best and most consistent player all year.

by C Smoove on Feb 18, 2010 8:04 AM CST reply actions

Yeah I really like his game

I don’t see how Martin fits with Houston’s gritty, defensive team but we’ll see.

Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."

Houston is not that good of a defensive team.

And they are just wasting possessions with Ariza as of now. At least with Martin you have a better chance of scoring.

Taj Gibson is the face of Bulls basketball!

Hopefully this shakes up the Tmac trade enough

So NY can’t land him and clear all that space.

BUT, if that is the case, then I’d almost be sure that Harrington for Tyrus would go down.

All your base are belong to Vinny.

by BCs71 on Feb 18, 2010 8:29 AM CST reply actions

Yeah, the real benefit to this trade is that NY doesn't have room for 2 max contracts.

Having room for 2 max contracts could really sway a superstar pair that wants to play together. One superstar on the Knicks is much less attractive. The Knicks will not be a contender next year even with James or Wade by themselves.

I wonder what kind of numbers Martin's gonna put up in Houston...

he’s on my fantasy team in the Blog a Bull league. I guess they did need a go-to scorer..

Martin is a much better 1st option than Ariza who should be the 4th option.

by C Smoove on Feb 18, 2010 10:18 AM CST up reply actions

Ithink this is good for the bulls

First as some as mentioned, the knicks were unable to move jeffries. Second, the rockets by taking on Martin won’t have cap space for max FA next summer. Considering they were rumored to be an attractive destination for bosh, as he’s from Texas, that can only be a good thing.
