Oooh, baby

Time to log into my twitter for the update from KC on details.

It’s all about the details….

All your base are belong to Vinny.

by BCs71 on Feb 17, 2010 5:16 PM CST reply actions

Kurt is assuredly staying this season
Salmons is considered to be the most talented player in the trade. But the Bulls would be receiving a player or two who could help them the rest of this season with both on expiring deals. As a result, the Bulls could get to approximately $18 million under the salary cap for next season. A maximum deal is expected to be about $16 million to $16.5 million.

All your base are belong to Vinny.

Hakim Warrick is pretty good...

On one side of the ball…if we could Frankenstein him with Tyrus Thomas, we would have an all-star starting PF….

Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.

This is getting interesting
“There are a lot of things that as an organization we’re working on, and John Salmons will not be playing. There’s things that I’m not at liberty to say,” coach Vinny De Negro said.

The Bulls had been in discussions with the Spurs on a deal that would have sent Salmons to San Antonio for Roger Mason and Matt Bonner, but those talks died.

Chicago has been eager to move Salmons, who has a player option for next season at $5.8 million, for an expiring contract or contracts to clear additional cap space for next summer.

There also was talk at the Garden that the Knicks were discussing a trade with the Bulls that would send Al Harrington to Chicago, with Harrington possibly being re-routed to a third team.

Just came here to post it.

Fine by me. Expirings are expirings, and Thomas will help our big man depth. Too bad this makes the Bucks a bit better and they could pass us for the 8th seed.

I think this might be preparing for T-MAC.

We get a couple cheap bigs from Milwaukee to replace Miller and Tyrus who goes to Houston for TMAC who is brought in to replace Salmons. No matter what, this means Tyrus is likely gone as well.

Rumors stated that Houston didn't want Salmons

But Bulls were pushing him on them. Bulls were out of running, so my guess is they went to plan B (or quickly found an alternate team) to deal Salmons separately.
Would be nice if it follows logic above as a precursor to Houston Tmac deal and usurps the knicks’ plan to get cap space via TMac…

SHould be interesting next few hours

But I don’t get it, either. Same boat as you.

I have no problem with this move what so ever. Kurt Thomas is still a nice defender and rebound guy. Elson can sit the bench, or be bought out.

Now let’s send Tyrus to SA for Mason, some filler (like Theo Ratliff) and their 1st round pick.
And get Kirk out to LA

Just realized Kurt Thomas is 37 yrs old

Elson is 33 and out with hernia surgery, and has awful career numbers.

Sucks to be trade fodder. Goes from one crappy team to another for 30 games.

Also, I guess it means Bulls need Miller around still.

In the proposed trade, the Rockets would get Kenny Thomas(notes), Andres Nocioni(notes), Beno Udrith and a Kings’ protected No. 1 draft pick. Sacramento would acquire Tyrus Thomas(notes), Brad Miller(notes) and Salmons from the Bulls. The deal would cleare cap space for the Bulls this summer and save the Kings as much as $15 million in salary next year.

by trig on Feb 17, 2010 8:54 PM CST reply actions

Not a better deal

I fail to see how this deals helps the Rockets this year more than getting expirings from the Bulls. Tyrus and Miller can help them more than Nocioni and Udrih. The protected pick I guess is better, but not worth the $14 mil owed to Nocioni and Udrih next year.

Bulls can still offer Miller Tyrus and James to get McGrady
