Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Hypothetical Bulls, Suns, Raptors - Tell me where my logic falls off

Any thoughts on this? Sounds wacky, but best case scenario we get 2 of the most dominant bigs in the league to pair with rose. If one/either decides to leave = the so desired cap space.

Chi - outgoing: Noah, Hinrich, Pargo, Miller, Thomas, Johnson, Richards
Chi - incoming: Bosh, Stoudamire, Barbosa

Phoenix - outgoing: Stoudamire, Barbosa
Phoenix - incoming: Miller, Thomas, Johnson

Toronto - outgoing: Bosh
Toronto - incoming: Noah, Hinrich, Pargo

I feel like both teams would consider these trades based on the apparently large risk of each big man leaving.

Bulls Roster:

PG: Rose, Barbosa
SG: Barbosa, Salmons
SF: Deng, Salmons
PF: Bosh, Gibson
C: Stoudamire

Immediate contender if you ask me.

Cap (estimated to be at ~$54m) - Assumes max contract of $19m when resigning, Stoudamire option of $17,686,100

1. If both sign max deals - $56,019,690
2. If only Bosh signs max deal (i.e. Bulls let Stoudamire walk) - $37,019,690 ($16,980,310 of cap space)
3. If only Bosh signs max deal (Stoudamire takes 1-yr option) - $54,705,790
4. If Stoudamire takes his 1-yr option, Bosh leaves - $35,705,790 ($18,294,210 of cap space)
5. If neither re-sign - $18,019,690 ($35,980,310 of cap space)

Seems to both accomplish our goals of increasing our chances of signing a (or two) marquee free agents. Also, Might be more plausible than wishing for Wade/Lebron. Finally, if we decide not to keep Amare, and he signs a deal elsewhere, we might (i think) have enough cap room to sign another top free agent (Johnson, Gay?) while keeping Bosh (and offering him more than anyone else).

Your logic falls off when

the Bulls don’t have 12 players on the roster.
Also, Deng and or Salmons and or Barbosa will play high minutes every night.

Either that

or Lindsey Hunter has to run PG.

Ha

You just put “Lindsey Hunter” and “run” in the same sentence.

Long list of things....

1) The Bulls have 0 depth after these trades
2) The Bulls won’t have cap room after adding Barbossa even if Bosh and Stoudemire opt out.
3) Bosh and Stoudemire don’t mesh well. They’re both gonna demand the ball in the low post and neither one is a great defender. We’d be better off with one of them + Noah.
4) You spelled Stoudemire wrong
5) This trade is stupid for the Suns. Most reports seem to indicate that they are capable of getting a lot more in return for Amare than Tyrus and JJ + expirings.
6) Toronto is reportedly not interested in moving Bosh. They might not accept this trade and hold out hope that they can resign Bosh or at the very least get more in return in a sign-and-trade.

Biggest reason is #5

I’d take a team of Rose/Bosh/Stoudemire any day of the week, but the suns would be dumber than the slow kid eating paste to do this trade.

Pretty sure #1 and #3 are important as well.

Many people fail to consider how players would play with each other; chemistry is a HUGE factor in a teams success, as is team composition and pairing players that cover each other’s weaknesses.

Additionally, many people underestimate the necessity of a capable bench if a team want to contend for a title. If you want to contend in the regular season just to make the playoffs, then you can have a crappy bench. Hey, that sounds like a team I know…

#6 is the main thing I was thinking about before even reading it

Colangelo made it clear that he is not trading Bosh unless he asks out and they feel strongly that he will resign with the Raptors. All the other points are valid too but you’re really nitpicking with #4 geez.

Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."

Has there ever been a trade

when a team has shipped out 7 players? Impressive.
