Around SBN: Watch Out For Cowboys UDFA Tim Benford

Ric Bucher reported on Sportscenter today that the Bulls are one of three teams who have offers on the table for Amare. I don't have a link since it was on TV, but this surprises me given all the Bulls beat guys have basically said we don't have much interest in him. What say you, BaB?

I say

Yaaaayy. Our front office is alive

I'm cuckoo for Kukoc!!!
I'm buying tickets for Feb. 20th. First home game after the trade deadline. Will I be happy?

by Yibs on Feb 12, 2010 3:04 PM CST via mobile reply actions

right,

Might be Brad Miller and Jerome James.

At least they’re trying.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

It would be awesome if it was a combo of

Kirk Hinrich
Taj Gibson (youth Phx wants)
James Johnson (Well he’s young)
Jerome James

Straight up for Amare…. this works in the trade machine

Of course I’d hope Kerr wasn’t that big of a moron (but hell he traded Shaq for the ability to buy out old man Wallace and Pavlovic when I’m sure for ticket sales alone he could have given them something real in return and saved a few bucks)….

Sadly....through thick and thin....

by majoyenrac on Feb 12, 2010 3:37 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah, but

he can’t get away with bone-headed moves 2 years in a row and keep his job. Can he?

by kingj41 on Feb 12, 2010 3:42 PM CST up reply actions

3 years in a row

Marion for Shaq was a terrible trade (not in value, but in styles of play, that was a panic massive trade for a team that needed a minor tweak); then he further worsened it by trading away Shaq for 2 pennies and a dime.

We have hope.

Sadly....through thick and thin....

Kerr needs to

Kevin McHale us, Taj Gibson can be their Al Jefferson, lmao

I say it's the most obvious move out there

And it’s what we’re waiting for before making other deals.

I tend to think the Heat will get it done though. Beasley (on a rookie deal) + expirings seems like the most obviously beneficial piece the Suns could get.

How about

Deng/Tyrus/Pargo for Amare/Collins? Eh?

Thrusting toward the playoffs, one game at a time.

by Illini15 on Feb 12, 2010 3:16 PM CST up reply actions

If they want to offer Deng, then yeah, maybe that changes the equation a bit

I think I remember it rumored that the Suns like Deng. So I’d guess if they don’t want to be seen as cheap, that’s a pretty solid deal for them.

I’d probably still go with paying Beasley on a rookie deal, if I were the Suns, but I haven’t thought too much about how crazy Beasley is or is not.

by Sports2 on Feb 12, 2010 3:23 PM CST up reply actions

That

Chops what $4-5K next year for them….and well Deng’s pretty good.

Too bad they still ahve Jason Richardson making a ridiculous unwarranted salary.

Sadly....through thick and thin....

by majoyenrac on Feb 12, 2010 3:28 PM CST up reply actions

Actually nevermind

I guess the hangup is Amare wants to be paid more than the Suns think he’s worth. Their salary situation isn’t that bad.

It’s a pretty crazy idea, but it could work. I guess I’d rather have Amare for 2 years than Tyrus’ expiring and Luol’s mega contract, but I also think the Bulls can get more than just Amare for that package. Earl Clark for James Johnson would be a nice throw in.

by YaoPau on Feb 12, 2010 3:44 PM CST up reply actions

What more could they get?

Maybe if Bosh choke holds Brian Colangelo down to a table and carves “I’m leaving!” into his cheeks with a piece of broken glass, then Colangelo would entertain the idea of Bosh for Deng+Tyrus.

Another blog

Says it Kirk, TT, & a 1st rounder. They said they heard Bucher say it, but I haven’t seen any links to back it up, so I am guessing it is just speculaltion.

That's way too good to be true

Deng has to be included.

not really sure why any team...

Would want kirk and tt in a package bc they have proven to have no connection or chemistry on the floor.

by jocrucial on Feb 12, 2010 3:17 PM CST via mobile reply actions

I'm sure John Paxson would be joyed to be able to trade for Amare and still sign another 2010 free agent.

Really, the Suns seem intent on taking back a player. If we are able to trade Deng, and have Amare come back in, while unloading Hinrich in a separate deal, why wouldn’t you do that?

We could go into next season with a core of Rose, Amare, Gibson, and Noah. If we have max cap space, we’re going to be by far the most attractive free agent destination.

That would be pretty sweet

And I do think it’d get us max cap room, even if Salmons sticks around. Which wouldn’t be the worst thing… we plug him into the 3 and we’re in good shape.

by Sports2 on Feb 12, 2010 3:26 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah

I think most of us could live with Rose/Wade or Joe Johnson/Salmons/Amare/Noah

Thrusting toward the playoffs, one game at a time.

by Illini15 on Feb 12, 2010 3:40 PM CST up reply actions

You know what

I’m all for it.

I had my reservations, but worst case is we get Amare, not a bad thing (I was all for Amare BIG BIG time last year but have seen him dog it time and again). Still if motivated he can be great.

If he doesnt’ work out, he could be a chip in our sign and trade request for a Bosh or Wade next year….

If he does work out then he and Rose with Noah can take over….

I presume an Amare trade comes with a Deng departure….and because Amar’e has the tools to defend but doesn’t and will want to make a max salary, I’ve been lukewarm this year….but so be it. Take a risk, and we shall see.

Sadly....through thick and thin....

Everyday it's the same rumor

At noon he’s as good as gone and by midnight it’s unlikely he’ll be traded. I’m tired of all these rumors. I want to see something happen.

The mania is still runnin' wild and the madness still flows through the veins.
