Heat willing to give up B-Easy for Amare.
This is good and bad news for us. This means Wade will want to stay in Miami, but Bosh might see us as a landing spot for 2010.
Thoughts.

Meh
I’d rather see the Bulls get Amare now, but I agree in that it at least takes away an obvious landing spot for Bosh.
My hope
would be that Bosh sees Wade + Amare in Miami, Lebron somewhere else, and realizes that he has a better chance of making it out of the East with Rose and Noah than with Bargnani and Turkoglu.
Otherwise, hello Boozer.
You mean D Rose?
So happy we got that first pick

Yeah
I don’t know if they had really high hopes for him. There was a lot of chatter about how badly Riley wanted Rose before the draft, and that the Heat were considering even taking Mayo over Beasley.
That wouldn’t have been the worst thing in retrospect. Wade could have just played PG officially instead of unofficially like he does now.
Vinny: "[Thrust] means pace, it means getting the ball out, it means getting your back to the sidelines, it means extending your outlets, it means getting the ball up the court into our early offense with plenty of time."
I wonder how much they were ruled by "conventional wisdom"
It seemed Rose and Beasley were the consensus #1 and #2 (order varied by opinion). At the time I felt like the Heat’s hand was forced as they couldn’t afford to go against conventional wisdom by picking someone like Mayo due to the very real chance that Beasley exploded (in a good way).

Remember when people thought Mayo was a PG?
That was funny.
Thrusting toward the playoffs, one game at a time.
He's the best PG on Memphis, if that counts for something.
I’m also impressed by his defense. Way more aggressive than I ever gave him credit.
Taj Gibson is the face of Bulls basketball!

Watch Riley school the Bulls and everyone else on how to build a kick ass team quickly
Everyone around here is bitching about what Stoudemire can and can’t do, but now he’s gonna go to the Heat and be fucking awesome and people are gonna be like “Why the hell didn’t the Bulls go after this guy?!!” If this happens, the Bulls better get Bosh
Neil takes the fun out of funk
I feel the same way juiceboxjerry
The Bulls should pursue STAT. He would be a force with D-Rose on the pick and roll. We probably would only have to give up Taj or Tyrus, a 1st rounder and maybe Miller and the Suns would probably bite.
With Noah we wouldn’t have to worry about his defense and with Deng and Noah being a strong rebounders, his 8 rpg would be even less of an issue. People on this blog place to much weight about his injury history. The guys knees have not bee an issues since the 05-06 season. He missed games last year because of his eye injury, not his knees.
STAT will only be 27 next year and has plenty of althelticisim to spare. If we traded for him and inherited his birdrights then re-signed him to a 6 year deal he would only be 33 in his final year of his contract and the same age of KG.
I think the Bulls are bluffing and trying to get as much as they can out of any deal. The rumor is Wade wants another big name player on the Bulls if is to sign with us.

I think the Bulls will do anything in thier power to land Wade in Chicago, short of trading Rose, Noah and maybee Deng.
Wade 2010!!!!!
As time goes on I am really warming to this plan
The chances of Wade signing with Bulls (which would be a big coup, IMO) are dependent on the Bulls being somehwat good, having cap space, and another big time player… essentially besting Miami’s outlook for 2011 and beyond.
Miami has the cap space and appeal to draw a big FA…. but they aren’t that greta this season (much like the Bulls).
But if Bulls landed Amare on this year’s team, and managed to trade away other pieces (Hinrich/Salmons…likely also Deng) for cap relief this summer so Wade can get his 17 million…. BooYAH
We don’t need Bosh/Lebron
Rose
Wade
Noah
?
Amare
All your base are belong to Vinny.
If Amare opts in (he'd have to by July 1st)....
….that’s a nice sign-and-trade chip for Bosh, eh?
And then they’ll STILL have 10-15 million in cap space.
Check this out: Amare for Beasley and Q. Richardson (gets Phoenix very close to under the luxury tax, saving them $8-$10 million)
If Amare opts in, they can trade him to Toronto in a sign-and-trade for Bosh.
Cook – $2.2 million
Wade – $17.5 million
Bosh – $17.5 million
Buncha cap holds $5 milion
Equals ~$42.5 million
They could trade for Hinrich without having to give anyone up (not that the Bulls would do that). They could maybe offer a Tyrus Thomas $4-$5 million for 3 years to play SF. Make a small offer to Chuck Hayes. Bring back Mario Chalmers. Draft a Greg Monroe or Solomon Alabi. Try to get a couple 2nd round draft picks to bring over the next couple of years.
Chalmers
Wade – Cook
Thomas
Bosh
Hayes – Monroe
it’s a crap lineup, but also has a chance to be surprisingly good.
In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).
Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.
okay,t hat's a shitty lineup. it's still intriguing.

Yeah, you had me until
you said Tyrus Thomas could be signed to play SF. LOL at that.

Well....
a) he wants to play SF so he’s probably going to shop himself first to play that
b) he can easily defend SF’s
c) He’s not going to be a back-to-the basket guy ever, so if he’s going to run around, does it really matter from what position
d) they’d have a better PF
e) who could they get with more potential at SF for $4-$5 than what they already have?

The problem is
Tyrus doesn’t have a SF skill set, and his attributes are better when he plays close to the basket.

meh
I think he can be an adequate passer
with Wade and Bosh, his dribbling isn’t as needed
I think his shooting can improve.
Basically, I picture a SF Thomas on THAT team like an 06-07 Deng, but less jump-shooty and more cutting to the basket. I don’t think he could work like that on every team, but on that one, I do.

I was thinking maybe in the Andre Kirilenko mode?
Minus any and all 3’s?
This is the reason the Bulls should trade for Amare
If he opts in, he’s a large 2011 expiring that could be dealt maybe in a sign & trade for Bosh, Wade, etc.
If the chemistry is good and Kirk and Salmons are gone, and he opts out, he’d likely take a little less than max for a Wade or Lebron to join the team.
If he’s absolutely a headache, then opts-out, he’s still a sign & trade piece for the 2010 off-season . (He’d want to use those Bird Rights.)
The ONLY BAD thing that could happen in acquiring him is him getting hurt and having zero trade value. And with that, he’d opt-in and probably prevent a big splash this 2010 off-season.
Even the bad thing isn't horrible
We’d still have him expire next year and we’d suck enough to get a good player in the lottery.
Joakim on whether he ever tried tennis: "I played a little bit. If anybody on the Bulls wanted to play me, I would kick their ass."
