Happy New Years Blogabull!
So I'm actually pretty excited for this game, the reason being that, for the first time this season, I will have the pleasure of seeing this Bulls team in person. But you guys probably don't care about that, just like nobody cares about the Cleveland and their woeful basketball team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
A wise man once said "Cleveland really sucks" (for visual evidence, stroll over to the top of the fanposts), and for the first time in years, it has a sucky basketball team befitting of its suckage. The Cavaliers have the lowest winning percentage in the Eastern Conference, they've dropped 15 of their last 16 games, and on ESPN.com, they're ranked 30th in Hollinger's power rankings and 29th in Stein's. They're without a doubt a terrible basketball team, and they might even be missing one of their best players in Mo Williams, who's questionable with a hip flexor.
Oh how the mighty have fallen. It's rather amazing that, only a year ago, the Cleveland Cavaliers put up the best record in the entire NBA. I'd feel sorry for them, but then I remember how they spanked us last year in the playoffs and humiliated us with their dancing antics. And even though a lot of that was just Lebron being Lebron, his sycophantic teammates were hardly blameless.
On that note, let's talk about
Lebron's entourage Cleveland's roster. As I mentioned, Mo Williams might be out, which would be a big blow since he's probably their best offensive player. Anderson Varejao's an excellent defensive player even though he flops a lot and isn't half as talented as Joakim Noah (seriously, comparing Noah to Varejao is like comparing Kobe Bryant to Larry Hughes - it's just lazy analysis). Sadly he's probably their best player. Antawn Jamison's always been a pretty crafty scorer, but at this stage of his career, he's just not that good. JJ Hickson's an athletic freak who looked last year like he could be on the verge of breaking out and becoming an all-star caliber player, but he's been absolutely terrible this year. Daniel Gibson and Anthony Parker have had their names come up in rumors about potential trades to the Bulls. I have to say, GIbson's actually having a really nice year and would not be a bad pickup. Parker, on the other hand, is pretty useless.
In summary, the Cavs suck and there's no reason not to completely annihilate them tomorrow. The Bulls could probably party til dawn and still win by 30 against these guys (not that they should). I'd tell you to go talk trash at fear the sword, but it looks like that site is more or less deserted. The game's at 6 on Comcast, which should give you just enough time to kick those New Year's hangovers.
Edit: Gibson is also questionable and Varejao is out. Oh boy.
