otherwise good game

OMG I know if only we could have an offense based on going 1-on-1. Those teams always win titles.

No the fuck they don't

the Triangle is 200% based on passing. The 1-on-1 team you’re thinking of is the Warriors.

That's true, this team needs at least 1 more shot creater but it's not Deng's fault that that player

isn’t on this team or that he doesn’t foot the bill in that regard. He’s still a damn good player worth having around

The Bulls are unlikely to get equal value back on a Deng deal b/c of his injury history

I wouldn’t mind swapping him for Iggy to acquire that additional ball handler but doesn’t sound like Philly has any interest

Honestly, people need to stop complaining so much about Bogans. He is on the floor with other people who take lots of shots. Leave our best-shooting SG on the bench to take shots when Rose/Deng/Noah or some combination of them are sitting.

by Ozzie Montana on Nov 13, 2010 9:40 PM CST up reply actions

I'm starting to think that is not that necessary

When Boozer comes back, a back up PG will be more vital. Most teams have at least 1 weakness and the play of the other pieces neutralize that weakness. Rotating defensive 2s like Bogans and Brewer and bringing in Korver for variety gives different looks throughout the game.

I like that the only thing Brewer can’t do is shoot. His defense has been stellar these past few games and he is active on the offensive end. Having an upgrade at the 2 would be great, but when Boozer comes back I don’t think it will be vital.

by Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. on Nov 13, 2010 9:43 PM CST up reply actions   1 recs

Agreed, 100%.

No reason to get a shooting guard who will take the ball out of the hands of Derrick, Noah, Deng, or Boozer. Those four can do enough damage.

Lockdown defense from the 2-spot would do a lot more to hurt a lot of opposing teams—Celtics, Hawks…

So about Wall

Great in transition, active hands on defense, a better shot from the perimeter than I thought… but that’s it. His halfcourt game is completely non-existent. I did not think it was that bad. And he needs to learn a bit more control in transition. He inexplicably clanged two easy lay-ins because he was going to fast.

Fortunately he had Flip and others to help him round out his game. Definitely loaded with potential.

yep. hes a weird player now. in some ways hes better than i thought, but in others he worse.

like, hes a better scorer than i though by a lot, but hes significantly worse on defense than i thought. and his scoring is all about transition, while in the half court hes surprisingly inept. and what fundamental said about him having tremendous vertical dribbling speed/quickness while being weak at moving laterally with the ball seems to be right. that being said, hes really good and hes going to be awesome for sure.

Good Game

Was there tonight and enjoyed it. Team did what it needed to do against an inferior opponent. Sad some of you are ripping on Kirk. Yeah he didn’t live up to his contract but he was one of the guys that helped bring this team back from the disaster it was. Guy played hard every night and didn’t complain. He’s a good dude and I’m happy they gave him a montage and announced him last. Then again, I also cheer BG when he comes back to town. They are guys that brough basketball back to the city.

The defense was outstanding. Taj looked great in the paint and it seems like they are starting to get the benefit of the doubt on calls. My one gripe is not enough Ronnie Brewer. The team played real well with him on the court and he causes havoc in the backcourt. Even off the ball he’s always sticking his hand in somewhere or jumping in passing lanes. Won’t show up on the stat sheet but he had a couple plays where he got in a position and caused them to make a bad pass. I understand Bogans is in there because he can shoot, but I think I’d like to see more Brewer and less Bogans unless we’re playing a team that is forcing us to shoot outside.

I’d also like to see Kyle play more with Derrick. He creates a lot of open looks beyond the arc that Bogans and Deng have feasted on. So I think it would only make sense to have one of the best long distance shooters in the league getting those attempts. His defense is bad but I think he can give a nice spark offensively when playing with Derrick. He is just not that effective when he plays with the 2nd unit.

And Deng sure played a lot for a game the Bulls had more or less in their control from the 2nd quarter on. Seems like Thibs forgets to sub out guys at times. Just seems with a guy as injury prone as Deng you’d like to see them limit his minutes a bit for the long stretch of the season.
