Season Predictions

The guys in Bristol have posted their season predictions for all teams in the NBA, and I thought this would be a fun way for the Blog-a-Bull community to weigh in with our season predictions for the Bulls.

"J.A. Adande, ESPN.com

Isn't Tom Thibodeau supposed to be a defensive guy? So why is Chicago's offense looking so fast-paced and fun? Like this squad a lot, even while Carlos Boozer's out.

Bulls are essentially Utah East. Heck, Carlos Boozer, Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer are former Jazz men! Throw in the great PG (D-Rose vs. D-Will) and special role players (Noah, Deng, Gibson vs. Millsap, Okur, Kirilenko) and you've got a team that is very good, but not good enough to win the East.

Had Carlos Boozer not tripped over a suitcase, breaking his pinky, I'd have the Bulls ranked higher. The combination of Derrick Rose, Joakim Noah, Luol Deng and Boozer is an intriguing one. If the Bulls can get someone to knock down a shot or two, they could be a very dangerous team.

Carlos Boozer's injury hurts because the Bulls don't get to start the season at full strength. Derrick Rose 's continued ascension into the superstar conversation coincides nicely with the arrival of Tom Thibodeau and his style of wreaking defensive mayhem. They'll need lots of outside shooting to make the leap.

Derrick Rose is a rising star, Carlos Boozer adds a serious frontcourt weapon, and they'll almost certainly be better coached. But let's all calm down a bit: They'll be in the bottom five in 3s, they have a shallow bench and Booz is already hurt. They're good, but flawed.

Carlos Boozer is the one free agent who didn't get enough attention. He'll have a dynamic point guard in Derrick Rose. Boozer gives this team a 20-and-10 player night in, night out. Joakim Noah likes to run the floor. Boozer is a back-to-the-basket player. They will work well together.

Looking at roster spots 1 through 5, I like 'em a lot. Six through 12, not so much. After years and years of waiting, Tom Thibodeau gets his shot at coaching from the first seat on the bench, and those who know coaches tell me Tibs will be worth 10 wins all by himself.

I've said it before and will say it again: I applaud the Boozer/Korver signings after missing out on the big names, expect Chicago to win the Central and FIRMLY oppose the idea of giving up a long-limbed defensive anchor of Joakim Noah's caliber for Melo, no matter how fearsome Melo is a scorer.

These aren't Michael's Bulls. But no team north of South Beach did more to improve in free agency. Chicago has a low-post game with Carlos Boozer joining Joakim Noah. Kyle Korver and Ronnie Brewer will excel off Derrick Rose. Here's a legit dark horse to reach conference finals.

East: 4

Brian Windhorst, ESPN.com

This was a Bulls team on the brink even before its free-agent pickups led by Carlos Boozer. Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah were fantastic in the playoffs last season and neither was 100 percent. The Bulls have the ingredients to be a darkhorse contender, led by their sheer size.
