Is Bogans the new Larry Hughes?
Larry Hughes was a black hole, yet Del Negro rolled him out every game. Even though Larry had lost all resemblance to mediocre player he was. I feel that Bogans quite possibly might be our new Larry Hughes. A shooting guard who just will play unproductive minutes yet still 15 every game. Brewer or Korver are clearly more worthy of the start. Lets not waste a position on a space filler or a black hole. It is a five on five game, use all five.

Is CJ Watson the New Larry Hughes?
Bogans sticks to his role of playing defense and shooting threes when open. CJ Watson is more comparable to Larry Hughes in my opinion.

heh, that's a way better question
though I think that watson won’t play as much as Hughes did. WHY did Hughes play so much? Why are we opening up old wounds.

Cj watson's career TS% is .556
Hughes’ career high TS% is .525. He’s a chucker, but as far as chuckers go, he’s a very efficient one.

More importantly
Would anyone mind Hughes if he was the 10th man?
I would definitely mind

Hughes is looking for a job still.
I feel like he still has bricks left.

would you rather have scal or hughes on your team as the 12th man
This may go down as the most retarded decade in NBA history.
Scal and it's not even close
He’s much funnier looking.

WEAVER! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Hughes problem was that he thought he was like Kobe or something
When in fact he was just Larry Hughes. Bogans at least realizes his deficiencies. His problem is that on offense his deficiencies are vast.
Bogans is a decent spot up shooter
I don’t think he’ll be asked to carry the offensive load though. We need him more for defense than offense.

Brewer or Korver are clearly more worthy of the start.
How has this been so clear at all? I don’t get why people are so down on Bogans. He’s played really well, and I’m sure Thibodeau will change things up if he feels like a better option arises. I saw nothing in preseason that tells me he’s really hurting the team by not putting Brewer out there. And Korver will still play tons as our primary scorer off the bench.
Superteams suck.
totally agree JJ but cmon nobody wants to hear common sense ;)
The way i see this is the job is Brewers to win, he was clearly brought in to start, but hes had some set backs and a bit of rust coming back. Korver is Thibs sixth man, i think he wants to keep it that way and if that was his thinking I’d tend to agree with it. Korver will be an awesome weapon coming on and lighting it up of the bench.
Bogans is the last person I thought we’d have starting at SG, but, hes played well in the pre season and if he continues his form and he fits the system, I don’t see the problem.
On the flip side to that if Bogans becomes a problem and Brewer is killing it off the bench and looking hot in practice, it wont be long before he’s a starter, its a simple as that.
Yea, it'as not like he's gonna play him if he sucks
Especially when he has other options. At least I hope wouldn’t
Superteams suck.

If Larry Hughes' had a preseason TS% of 70, I'd start him, too.
Teams without Chapu lost 1173 games during the 2009-'10 season.
There is no comparison
By the time Larry Hughes got to the Bulls he was known around the league as a player who didn’t defer to his team’s star. Someone who if the ball got to him with 10 secs on the shot clock it wasn’t going to leave his hands. He was described as a me first player. Kicked out off Cleveland because he wouldn’t defer to Lebron.
Keith Bogans is known as savy veteran who lacks the talent to do a lot of things on the court. He provides his teams with a few things he can do decently. He is a smart tough defender who doesn’t have enough athletic ability to be a great defender. He is a career 35% 3 pt shooter who only shoots when offense dictates. He is a player that smart coaches ( Stan Van Gundy the year Magic made Finals and Greg Popivich last year ) seem to trust.
Bogans is nowhere near the trouble Larry Hughes would be in the starting lineup. If you watched the preseason at all … you would have noticed Bogans is taking open corner threes whenever he has the chance. Why? Because Tom Thibadeau has been quoted all preseaon preaching the corner 3 ….. a problem he noticed from last year’s tape when Hinrich and Deng would take long 2s instead of corner 3.
Bogans is not looking for his shot ( a thing Larry Hughes did every 3rd possesion), he is shooting as the offense dictates. His hot preseason 3pt % will probably revert back to around 35%. Will he start the whole year over Brewer? – I would guess no. Brewer missed a fair share of the preaseon … so Thibs probably wants to go with as cohesive a backcourt he has had to work with in practice.
Like others have mentioned in other threads – where is the bench scoring coming from if Korver starts? Korver has to be a scoring option for the second unit ( especially with Taj already filling in at starter).

I guess I don't understand the questioning of Keith Bogans.
He didn’t play bad at all during the preseason. It’s also pretty obvious to me that he knows Thib’s system the best out of all the possible starters at SG.

Not saying I'm completely against starting Bogans
But anybody who believes that Bogans is going to continue to shoot the ball as well as he did during the preseason is sadly mistaken.
Pat Riley is the devil.

Anyone who thinks Bogans will take as many shots as Larry Hughes is also mistaken.
TS% = Thabo Sefolosha percentage. It calculates how much you can be like Thabo Sefolosha. That’s why Keith Bogans is at 70%.

An added benefit
is that Thibs can have Bogans guard the other team’s best guard, SG or not.
Before you say something about me being crazy for thinking Rose can guard the 2, think about it. How many teams in this league run with combo guards (Curry and Ellis, Wall and Arenas, etc)?
"I want to be that guy. I want to be the reason the Bulls are back."- Derrick Rose.
"I'm never leaving Chicago."- Derrick Rose
I don't like thinking
at least two teams! Wait, three, the Kings.
