I remember Red Kerr talking about how PJ would sit MJ
near the end of the third to early in the 4th, so he could get about 6-8 minutes real time on the bench, while only missing 2-3 minutes game time.

Lets see how long Vinny sits Rose.
Rose ought to come back in with about 11 minutes left in the 4th.

Great
now the refs and God are on the Bobcats side.

i'd like to see when they started the clock
that seemed like a really long 2.8 seconds
this is neither here nor there
but does joakim noah miss an inordinate number of dunks?

What ever happened to the John Salmons patented
hold it for 10 seconds jab step a couple times and hit a 3.
yeah...that got him benched!

Goldie from "The Mack"
his jab steps are futile against SG's cuz they all know they're quicker than him so they don't have to overreact to his high school moves
yeah....
I just remember screaming at him and then being silenced as the shot went in a lot last year.

JJ
has really made some improvements lately. he no longer looks lost and is starting to do the little things that help the team
He does look like less
of a disaster out there.
what a late call
fucking garbage refs have been screwing us all game
screwed the Bulls in carolina last year too
i wonder if Jordan has this burning desire to prove he can out-do krause at his own job, so he pays the refs off every time the Bulls come to town.
comeback!

Goldie from "The Mack"
Better for Tyrus to foul him there
then while he was shooting. That was such a mismatch.
Jackson is killing us

Rose free throws
chicago will have a hard time winning if Rose cant get atleast 7 free throws per game
Kurt makes plays unlike Salmons and Deng!
"We can settle this like you got some class, or we can get into some gangsta sh..."
Goldie from "The Mack"
Taj playing center with 5 fouls
shows how little faith Vinny has in Brad Miller.
lemme guess
Rose will be benched until the game is no longer winnable then leave him on the court till the buzzer sounds on a lost game
Salmons is tired
Rose really needs to come in now.
Wallace has 28 points, Jackson has 21

like a wet paper towel
gotta add that to my get a dog list
Deng had 16 points at the half and now has ....18 points
anyone surprised?
Dont worry
he’ll add 6pts 4rebs when the game is already over
That was a charge?
AHAHAHAHAHAH!
Refs could at least not make it obvious.
i was just about to say, did we actually get away with a foul (Noah at the other end)
and then sure enough, they promptly fuck us again to make up for it
Derrick's shooting great
But he’s really racking up the TOs tonight, too.

No more pick and rolls with Noah
and Deng.
They’re flat out doubling Rose on those and Noah isn’t making himself available.
Its really tough
going up againts 5 players, 3 refs and a “coach”
Jackson, Wallace, and Murray have really hurt us.

damn Rose has 7 TO's
but i still dont want anyone else with the ball
That was actually a good call
Taj should have stood still. No way Murray made that shot around him.
I would have rather had Noah shoot that 16 footer
than have Kirk short-iron another 3.

Again, I can deal with a player shooting and missing.
But it was so obvious he didn’t want to shoot it. A wide open 12 footer. It had no chance to go in, because he was choking up. I feel bad for the guy, but he is just not the player to be next to Derrick. It’s just agonizing. The issues are so obvious. Seriously, if I saw JR right now, it would take a long look at my wife not to do something that would get me jailed.

That was ridiculous. Bad execution or horrible play design? Hmmm. Both?
I was talking about the first one
I don’t think Vinny drew up the “3pt shot off the back tap” play. I can tell it wasn’t a VDN play, because it actually featured an open shooter.

Did the Bulls have a timeout at the end of the game or not?
ESPN says they did. On a team without 3 pt shooting – you have to run a play to get someone open. A Salmons iso won’t cut it.

Same issue as last game.
But let’s be real. Derrick ruled the bobcats in the 4th. But he pretty much chilled for the middle two quarters.
But you know – a 21 year old point guard shouldn’t have to carry a team by himself. It just really sucks how this organization has hamstrung him by not giving him…well, you know.

Much though optimism won't be welcome on this board....
We shot over 50% and scored a season high for points. The Bobcats have been better than people are giving them credit for, especially at home, and this was the second of a back-to-back.
Any loss is frustrating, but the end of the world stuff is overdoing it.
Just waiting on some offense....
it just gets so old cuz we've watched them constantly lose winnable games since Del Negro took over...
i can’t help but be reminded of the Bobcats game last year that was similar to this, and even then people were beyond pissed about vinny.
I'm frustrated with the loss, too
Obviously if they want to be a top tier team they need to win these tight ones.
I just find it old at this point that every single loss leads to calls for Vinny’s head, all the players to be traded, and predictions that the team won’t make the postseason. That crap makes some sense after a blowout or losing a big lead, but imo it’s hugely misplaced after a game like tonights.
Just waiting on some offense....
It's mostly misplaced because folks should be pissed at GarPaxDorf more than the players
Who, for the most part, tyr their ass off and want to win.

agreed/rec'd
the players are playing up to their capabilities.
we just don’t have enough talent. it’s been the problem since day 1. as yfbb loves to say, this franchise “hates talent.” they value “hustle,” “leadership,” and “loyalty,” 3 things which in this case have nothing to do with results on the basketball court. it just plays into image, which is all the bulls have to maintain.
"4 inches, baby!" --ripped off from Kush
Totally agree
This team as constituted is not very good Vinny or not.
Fan of the Chicago Cash Cows formerly known as the Bulls
Exactly...
the chorus or VDN and Tyrus haters is so old and really misdirected. Boo GarPaxDorf. Call for their heads. They’re the ones who let BG go for nothing, drafted JJ (claiming he was the #6 talent on their overall board!), and gave VDN a bench full of Hunters, Pargos, and Grays.
either way, i'd love to see the Bulls' record in close games since Vinny took over...
i guarantee it would be awful
don't be surprised if you see a difference between last year
and this year.
i wonder what could be the difference. hmmmm
"4 inches, baby!" --ripped off from Kush
i know what you're gettin at,
but even then they lost a ton of games they shoulda won. in the meantime, there’s no bringing back the player you’re referring to, but one thing they CAN do is remove one GLARING weakness on this team by firing Vinny.

We miss you, Ben Gordon!
by Granny Waiters on Jan 5, 2010 9:38 PM CST up reply actions
I looked up this year's, and it's actually even
For games decided by 5 points or less, the Bulls have 5 wins and 5 losses. 1 point games the record is 1-1.
Games decided by 6-10 points, Bulls’ record is 6-4.
The killer is the record in games decided by more than 10 points – 3 wins to 10 losses.
If I don’t get bored, I’ll look up last season too and do Vinny’s whole record.
Just waiting on some offense....
Interesting
I looked up last year
Type W L W%
0-5 9 12 43% 11% 15% 26%
6-10 15 12 56% 18% 15% 33%
>10 17 17 50% 21% 21% 41%
What it says, I guess, is that the Bulls no longer ever seem capable of winning by a comfortable margin. Because they struggle so much to score, they have very little margin for error. Every game is going to be a nail biter. Unless we’re getting our doors blown off, which we seem to do at about last year’s rate.
Last year they were slightly worse at close games, but much more capable of winning by wider margins.
If I had to sum it up, I’d guess that Vinny is slightly better at coaching and he’s got a crummier team to work with.
by Sports2 on Jan 5, 2010 9:53 PM CST up reply actions 1 recs
your guarantee is bonk bc you're incorrect...
who the hell is Vinny supposed to go to down the streatch? Rose right? But even he had 3 turnovers in the last 5 min. And so when they cover Rose, who else? No one! Our 2 shooting guards have open looks for a jumper and a 3 at the end of the game (and so did Rose), but they all missed badly.
Vinny should put Ben Gordon in the game in the 4th.

Here's my issue with it....
All of that is true whether the game is a win or a loss.
I don’t have much of an issue with anyone rationally discussing stuff like that in any situation. But I do get tired of over the top ranting after every loss. This loss in particular – while frustrating because a win was right there – doesn’t deserve the Chicken Little treatment.
Just waiting on some offense....

The Bulls still suck.
Hopefully these two losses bring everyone who might have been fooled by the post-Tyrus bubble back to earth and makes us cognizant of the 1000 pound elephant in the room – ownership and management in general. until they change or change their philosophy, nothing will ever change.
tonight was what we’ve seen so many times over and over again this season. rose on his own having to do pretty much everything. get used to it because this is what we’ll be seeing for the next however many years he’s imprisoned on this team.

Stern is a genius and
you lack a sense of perspective. In my lifetime, pro ball was played in places like the New York Armory and the Cow Palace. I remember 300 people showing up in an underheated gym to watch the Knicks play Syracuse, Players shot set shots and a good game might get into the 80’s. Fast forward through Stern’s ham-fisted vision, and you have arguable the most popular emerging spectator sport in the world. The league is so much more athletic and the players are so much better conditioned. And it has a license to print money. You want “purity”, where filthy luchre plays no role? Go see some AAU games. I’ve been watching basketball religiously for more that 50 years and this is the best I have ever seen it played. Give me a team of Wade, LeBron, Kobe, Howard & Chris Paul and I would be competitive against any team from any other era. Great coaching now, as well. (Not counting the Bulls, of course). David Stern may seem be kinda dorky, and he dresses like a staff accountant from TJ Maxx, but he’s a fucking genius who built a multi-billion dollar international business. Credit where credit is due, Maybe we can have him take over the Bulls.

Awesome, I love you guys.
Ever complained about how the NBA was fixed in the 90s?

Wennington called out Deng while I was in the car.
He said I’m sorry Chuck thats just a dumb basketball play by Deng.
Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever.
bill/chuck are pretty good
they don’t beat around the bush and call out the Bulls when they suck. unlike neil, who even when he was on the radio, would bash the opposing team to no end even as the bulls lead dwindled in some “choke” games the bulls have had in the last several years.

Somebody needs to call out Kirk,
for the myth he is a good shooter, and overrated defense, he was getting torched by Flip F*cking Murray, get his declining, garbage ass out of here

I got in an argument with my brother in law about the nba.
How the players don’t try hard. I said they did but I think I was lying after watching brad miller.
Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever.
I knew I was wrong when I was arguing
i said something like ohhhhhhhhhh their such great athletes it just doesn’t look like they try. but I just lied just to defend my reason to watch the game.
Glory is fleeting, but obscurity is forever.
in other news ben gordon is having a rough go of things tonight
but the pistons are beating dallas on the road. if anyone cares about (presumably) our favorite ex-Bull. i know he is for me!

I miss BG
Kirk actually made 2-6 from the arc and Salmons 3 of 6, I still feel like they shot so poorly. Kirk missed an open 12 footer with the game on the line and Salmons had a wide open chance to tie and missed. Kirk and Salmons had so many missed open shots. At this point, I’d take anyone that can drain an open three consistently to replace either of these guys.
Ben going to another team probably did more for his idol status than staying ever could have.
Now everyone can just hold onto the false memories of Ben never missing a shot. The legend grows, and no one ever measures up to a legend. And for the record, I like Ben, would have liked the Bulls to keep him, and am quite glad for him that he got his money.
But as much as people gripe on how poorly the Bulls have shot the 3 this season, has anyone looked at the stats and actually realized that both John and Kirk have shot the 3 better than Ben so far this season?
Ben 34.0% 3-point shooting, 30% over the last 5 games, 0-4 last night. (Although he’s actually only played 4 of those last 5 games.)
John 35.0% 3-point shooting, 55.6% over the last 5, 3-6 last night.
Kirk 36.1% 3-point shooting, 42.1% over the last 5, 2-6 last night.
(And no, I’m not saying this will hold forever, or that Ben has not been the best over his career, or that all 3 points shots are equal – just pointing something out that I doubt many people have realized while busy missing Ben and his stellar 3-point shooting.)
Just waiting on some offense....
That's interesting.
Thanks Wendy.
OK I don't know shit about basketball.

Life is good.
I didn’t watch a single minute therefore I have no need to moniter my blood pressure.
So can I just assume that Vinny was outcoached again and his subtitutions continue to indicate he’s still flying by the seat of his pants with a load in his drawers?
The real question that should be asked about our guards should be would you prefer death by firing squad or by hanging? In either case, the results are the same. If the Bulls have to rely on them to pull out a close game, than you can be assured that the corpse cannot be revived,
If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.
