Warriors 114, Bulls 97

No recap, since I couldn't watch. I'd feel worse about it, but early reactions indicate that the Bulls didn't do much showing up today either.

How is my saying the team SHOULD win easilly and decisively jinxing the team?

I didn’t guarantee a win, I didn’t say we positively have this “W” I said we should win. I’m sure 99 percent of all players will say they SHOULD win games against terrible teams. So don’t put this on me, put this on Vinny and those cats that actually got outplayed.

Wow, dude. I'd hope you really don't believe in jinxes at all.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

You should be thanking your lucky stars you couldn't watch

We shot poorly (excepting Fish), we didn’t attack their guys in foul trouble, and we lost going away to a team that should have no legs left from night after night of big minutes.

Yay! Better offense! And some defense!

Man, I’ve always been a Tyrus supporter…and yet I can’t support that kind of play….it’s been too long. Come on T2….

At least he rebounded well.

So there were some positives from Thomas in the game.

But offensively, Thomas played like a tard, repeatedly taking the ball softly at Biedrins, and playing recklessly on the fast break.

But there isn’t a whole lot to complain about Thomas defensively and rebounding wise, so it’s not like Thomas was a complete train wreck tonight.

I typically see the good with the bad and focus more on the good with Thomas

I’ve been a big fan and still am….but yesterday’s game was horrible, forcing shots, forcing passes, getting some boards, sure, but GS throws up a ton of shots….

I thought his D was pretty woeful for Tyrus (sans the one really nice block) overall he just seemed to be still in Chicago while his body was in Oakland….

A real shame. I still think he should start even with all this…just because if we get Tyrus going we can be fairly decent (heck we were late last year with Tyrus going…)….and I don’t think him coming for spot time off the bench is going to fix this funk.

I mean look at Kirk and Salmons, the change has worked for both of them, and Tyrus is far more gifted….

A shame that we’ll probably see all those gifts blossom when he’s on an opposing team.

Sadly....through thick and thin....

i got the free trial league pass working. the quick review for anyone interested: it’s much much better than the freed-o feeds (how could it possibly be so bad?), but it’s still internets balky. not sure if it’s worth the $50.

Not even a Team.

To Whom did the Bulls lose?

The GSW put out a team I didn’t recognize and I get them on my TV.

The roster is decimated and Cohan is cheap so he’s got the GM signing backup guys for 10 day contracts.

They have two guys called up fro the D league who haven’t been with the team, one just this week who is subbing for an injured D league PF they called up in December!

Just Awful.

Andris Biedrins is just returning for a early season injury and set a career record in blocks.
Corey Maggette is playing PF.

the funny thing is the refs had to make the same call later when tyrus "took a charge" from maggette,

but somehow, even though it was the same exact situation, the call was made this time in favor of the offensive player. i couldnt understand that.

iffy call, at least to anyone who hasn’t got an anti-tyrus bias. and it occurred at 10:37 after thomas had just grabbed his seventh and eighth defensive rebounds. bulls were down (only) 85-81 then, and the warriors had no team fouls.

so it’s smart to let them take a foul and get out of a jam?

furthermore

i’d dispute the point that there was someone else to pass to. i don’t recall anyone open or in better position to score, only hindsight says make the pass when the referee’s call is already known.

also, players have been known to react with a “smile” to calls they disagree with.

The thing with a guy like Adrian Griffin or Malik Allen is they still could give you a few minutes a night. Sure they weren’t good players, but they didn’t kill you when they stepped on the floor. Pargo is just real bad. Throws up a ton of shots and consistently misses. I just can’t fathom there is not a guy out there who can just hit a couple shots and we won’t even care about defense or anything else.

it seemed like 80% of bulls possessions they did a PnR 18-23 feet from the basket, and every

time biedrins would run out and double the guy with the ball. just so we are clear, the warriors only big, the only guy who can protect the rim on the team, was routinely 18-23 feet from the basket. how vinny, his staff and his team failed to adjust and to attack this over-aggressiveness is mind blowing. in other news, don nelson thinks vinny is a great coach. in fact, hes looking to recommend vinny to the lakers, kings, suns or clippers.

Cut VDN some slack.

How did you expect him to activate his thrust powers with his main thruster being out with the flu?

You’re also not giving him credit for his compassion. He knew Biedrins was coming back after a long layoff and was obviously feeling his pain. By designing a game plan to maximize B’s strengths while minimizing ours, he was just trying to clear a path so the young warrior could succeed.

Many might say Vinny has no brains but nobody can deny he has a big heart.

I think we adjusted fine

In the 2nd quarter and for a time in the 3rd, but Nellie Ball can be so tempting…it’s like he tempts the opponents players to play his style and not run their offense, but go into a one on one game against him. Most teams of course adjust and calm down out of this, especially when Nellie’s team is fractured as it is, but it seemed yesterday Deng and Salmons’s eyes lit up and they caved into Nellie Ball (something we don’t have close to the talents to run).

Sadly....through thick and thin....

by majoyenrac on Jan 19, 2010 10:33 AM CST up reply actions

Salmons played well enough yesterday

Deng didn’t. I guess Tyrus kind of caved in too (though sadly that’s to be expected). Ellis kind of isolated Rose’s impact, and it was a battle of the energy guys, with Biedrins winning the battle, mostly because our team didn’t stick to waht we could do to win the game….

Oh well, it was a mostly entertaining loss either way, and only turned into the blow out it looked like at the end.

Sadly....through thick and thin....

i pretty much saw the loss coming after about 8 minutes of the first quarter….the team came out flat, and i think it wouldve been a blow out much sooner if it wasnt that goldenstate really was heavily unmanned….nevermind the score, the fact that we lost to a dleague team (almost literally), it goes right up there with the new jersey and sacremento loss.

On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!

I guess Kirk Hinirich is more valuable than I thought.

There was no defense by any of the guards.

why is there an asshole on my wheaties box?

this team cant win with any regular rotation player out

whether it be kirk, thomas…hell maybe even brad miller…if anyone is out, this team loses. This team struggles to win, the only way they can win is if they are at full power…missing a regular rotation player also means we get more of the bench players, and that doesnt help much either. Its like if losing hinrich wasnt enough, we then see tons more of pargo….if we lose tyrus or taj, more of brad miller (who is fine in small doses) and if we do lose miller….i wont be surprised if we start seeing some Aaron Gray action

You can just blame Gar Forman’s dumb ass for that for putting this bullshit roster together.

You hit the nail on the head

Give that man a cigar.

what makes this display of incoherent incompetence even worse, it is being perpetrated by the league’s most profitable franchise and that seems to be all that management cares about.

What other motive could explain hiring VDN over D’Antoni or Collins or anyone else? Signing Hunter can only be explained by the league being responsible for picking up part of his salary.

Pargo, a lifetime 37% shooter? stupidity coupled with arrogance that they know better. The only thing worse in Chicago sports fiascos is the Bears giving up next year’s 2nd round draft choice for Adams…and I would still say that even if he hadn’t passed away.

If you can't answer a man's arguments, all is not lost. You can still call him vile names.

Garrett Wolfe is the Bear's version of Jannero Pargo.

When he’s good he’s slightly above mediocre, but when he’s bad he’s Pargo bad.
