Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

Every player had the greatest summer of their lives. Deng will be back to top form. Rose is ready to step up and lead. Hinrich will resume his all-world defense. Miller's farts smell like daisies....

Its actually a pretty good interview. The money shot -

"He [Deng] says he is ready, and the doctors have given him a clean bill of health. He feels good, and he’s been working, running and playing. We expect him to return to when he was in top form the year before last, if not better. Luol is only 24 years old, but this is his sixth year in the league and he has become a veteran. We need him to become a leader also, and our expectations are very high for him."

i dont care

what anyone says, i am excited for this season! I cant wait to see these guys play. Rose, Fish, Lu, Ty, and Noah is a really solid starting 5, and the bench is gonna be on point too, kirk, brad, johnson, pargo, taj and fatty! NICE!

I liked most of what Gar had to say

but of course he’s going to make everything sound AWESOME, so I’m taking things with a grain of salt.

However, what I particularly liked:

  • Most of the players were frequent visitors to the Berto Center during the offseason
  • Noah’s level of conditioning
  • Deng’s apparent level of fitness, even while recovering from the stress fracture

I also like that they said defense is their #1 priority going in to camp, but the two caveats there that make me leery are:

1. That re-signing Gordon was “the #1 offseason priority” and they never even made him an offer. And that’s not even a “they should have resigned Gordon” comment – they should have just been forthright and said that they don’t want to pay $50m for what they feel is a bench player. Why give it the lip service?
2. They talked about a commitment to defense last year too, and well that didn’t really happen, did it?

But overall, it seems like the players currently on the roster all have used their offseason well.

Gordon

is the reason why they didnt play defence. It was almost like they already knew that they would score alot and also win games scoring alot (BG) so they didnt need to force the defence side of the game. but i think with BG gona they need to become defensive minded to win games

by PORCH1 on Sep 25, 2009 6:16 PM CDT up reply actions

Yer dumb. They were a top 5 defensive team at one point with Gordon getting significant minutes. They didn’t play defense last year because of lack of a good defensive philosophy. Vinny had them switching on every screen. One guy on the team doesn’t make others not play defense. That is really asinine to think.

by C Smoove on Sep 26, 2009 10:00 AM CDT up reply actions

I was going to respond to that too

But I just decided that it was so ridiculous I might as well just leave it alone. I guess he forgot about all those Skiles years when the team was one of the better defensive teams in the league with BG.

If everyone is healthy and in shape for the start of camp

maybe they can learn the VDN playbook.

by piccolomair on Sep 25, 2009 2:53 PM CDT up reply actions

I wouldn't say I'm excited about it or even willing to give VDN a clean slate

But I am intrigued to see if he spent the offseason trying to identify where he went wrong last season and improving on that.

No wonder Pax has Gar as the front man

It says he’s going to be checking in with Bulls.com twice a month! That must have scared Pax to death to have to be interviewed that often lol.

I thought the Interview was very informative

Gives us insight about they way the Bulls organization think.
I sense a lot of optimism in the tone of Gar Formans voice.

A lot of the players got in better shape and healthier this season. Its very reassuring too hear. Hopefully that correlates to a better product on the court. To entertain us. And for us to judge…

Them talking about Joakim Noah got me more excited about Joakim Noah.
He was Frances hero this year lol.
Deng working out 3 times a day?! Calm down Bruce Lee!

Tyrus HAS improved statistically every year… Hopefully the “trends” continue…

Derrick Rose. Wow Gar Forman goes orgasmo about him. lol.

"Miller's farts smell like daisies..."

That’s only during the first 25 minutes of play. After that, they smell like…ass.
