That totally bites

Man, you know it’s probably there with huge guys like BG, DHoward, Shaq, Aretst, etc etc etc etc etc etc….but you just hope it ain’t. I hope this isn’t the tip of the iceberg. Funny that the lanky Lewis is the first to get caught in recent memory…

Hey

I loved BG the player, but he’s abnormally huge for his size….

He’s no Lebron…..the nice thing is that you know Karl Malone had to be taking them…..if any of these guys get caught…

True Hoop article on the test

http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-43-19/Three-Thoughts-About-Rashard-Lewis-and-Performance-Enhancing-Drugs.html

It is actually a good read (I usually despise everything on truehoop).

Who new that Hunter had been busted for PEDs? Maybe that is why the Bulls are keeping him around. It is always good idea to have your dealer as close as possible.

that was a good read

i remember the hunter thing.

it was only like 2 years ago, he was already pretty much a nonfactor by then.

This was inevitable

Allow me to not give a crap just like I don’t care about PEDs in football or baseball.

The Chicago Bulls.....the more profitable Los Angeles Clippers.

I'm no expert,

but I’ve been around my fair share of steroid users and there’s “NBA jacked(Magette, Lebron, Howard)” and then there is “steroids jacked”. I doubt Lewis, and any NBA players for that matter, was taking steroids. Unlike in baseball and football, when players fail tests and say it was a mistake caused by a steriods laced OTC supplement, I believe them. The last thing Rashard Lewis wants to be is swole, and DHEA is not just a performance drug. DHEA is also used to treat low testosterone linked acne, and Lewis does have pretty severe acne. I side with the player on this one.

good point

with the acne thing. I tend to believe him, but you can never be too sure these days.

My take is.

That Lewis was looking for some kind of help with recovering from his injury/fatigue. I don’t think he was trying to cheat though. I think he thought he was doing it the right way, because it was an over the counter drug. I believe him when he says it was just a stupid mistake. I think that’s exactly what it was. He was stupid for not checking it against the banned substance list.

I don’t think he was knowingly trying to cheat. I think he was trying to do things by the rules, but was using theflawed logic of “If it’s over the counter, there is no way it’s a banned substance”.

This is probably the first rain drop in a pending downpour.

Everyone assumes that because steroids give you bulk there’s no illegal performance enhancing substances in the NBA. So does that mean the Tour de France is clean, too, since those guys don’t seem to get bulked up?

I suggest that after Lewis people look at Rodman and Pippen as exhibits A and B. Just compare their builds from the beginnings to the ends of their careers.

I’m not saying I have any conclusive proof, I’m just saying, take a look. There’s a real possibility that the use of borderline or illegal performance enhancers has been going on in the league for a while.

Have you ever been in a gym?

Any regular Joe can have an athletic basketball layer build by just hitting the gym consistently for say, two years. This is the bullshit out there about steroids, and how anyone who’s even slightly jacked or looks good without a shirt is automatically accused of PED’s. That’s bullshit. Pippen was lean and moderately muscular, same goes for Rodman and Jordan. I saw old videos of Jordan training during his first post-retirement stint. I’d eat shit if he was on the juice, and he had just as impressive of a body transformation as Pippen.
I wouldn’t be surprised if there are certain illegal pick-me-ups in the NBA, but I’d be utterly shocked if steroids were used any more than 1-5 percent of the league. Players would be coming in (at least) 20-30pounds heavier after one offseason on the shit.

I also don’t believe there’s much steroid use in the NBA. I’m sure there are some but it’s probably still a low percentage. Basketball is more a game of quickness and speed rather than pure bulk/power.

Then why do so many Olympic track stars take steroids?

Not that many do. If you look at the real percentage, the number is still extremely low.
