Ha!

Suck it, Glen Taylor…

I'm getting pretty tired

of Bill Simmons’ taunting. Kahn may be underqualified and a retread, but lets say someone did think outside the box to hire a GM. It’s a good idea, but way way down the list would be a Karate Kid columnist.

I think more to the point

did Kahn really fail here? Larry Bird was picked with a fifth pick and didn’t come to the Celtics until one year later. Minny still has first shot at Rubio in two years when he’s more seasoned and they can build a team around him, and then slot him in at a rookie salary….

Unless Kahn sells off the rights to the Knicks or someone else first ; >

Would people on this board take Rubio with the fifth pick and wait two years? Curious…

Eh probably not

Although this was such a weak draft that it might have been hard not to…

Yeah I agree

The kid is only 18 years old. For him to spend another 2 years playing in Europe is not a bad thing at all. He basically said he’s not ready for the NBA yet. If he’s everything that he’s projected to be, you can’t blame the guy for taking a shot at him. If nothing else he’ll be a valuable trade asset in two years.

"I've missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. Twenty six times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."- Michael Jordan

Ha ha (Nelson laugh).

1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

meh

I really want to see Rubio in the NBA right now. I’d pay for close seats just to see Rubio’s game. But in MSP with that roster and Johnny Flynn right next to him it was bad situation from the start.

12/31: Fire Vinny Del Negro.

Kahn takes a PR hit right now, but Rubio

did him favor in the long term assuming Kahn lasts that long. Given how long McHale got, Kahn is probably safe for three years. Rather than Minnesota chewing up Rubio’s rookie contract years while he develops. Now there getting an older and likely more productive Rubio over those cheap rookie contract years.

Rubio is soo overrated. I don’t see anything that shows me All-star potential. Can’t defend, can’t shoot. He is a flashy passer, at best he will grow up to be a rich man’s Jason Williams. Flynn will end up being the better NBA PG even though he’s only 6 foot. Kahn didn’t do a bad job here Worst case, Rubio is a super valuable trade chip in a couple years.

Euro basketball…fine and well. This is the NBA. I’m sure Milicic and Skita and many other Euros were destroying Euroleague. THIS IS THE NBA. I don’t see him being a great NBA pro. Maybe a good one but I don’t see anything that does anything to project him as being that much better than White Chocolate version 2.

"I’m sure Milicic and Skita and many other Euros were destroying Euroleague. "

They didn’t. They barely played, and weren’t even on Euroleague-quality teams. It’s a huge difference between them and those who play well in that league.

You have to think of him compared to people his age.

and in that sense he is amazing and can go really far. The fact he has taken on more responsibility and shown more promise than the high school/college guys when they were 17-18 says a lot too. He seems to have good instincts which is something you can’t teach. His body will develop more and not a lot of guys come into the NBA with perfected defense or even competent defense (cough Rose /cough). He wasn’t the number one pick. He was a risk worth taking for that draft spot and even if he doesn’t fit their team well as long as he doesn’t do anything stupid the next few years he will still be a huge asset for trades.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.
