Honestly it's a tough question with the number values...

But I’d definitely take LeBron or Howard if at all possible.

I always like these kinds of things...

27 pts let’s see

PG—Jose Calderon and Jarrett Jack (6 pts—though Hinrich should be there at least as a 3).

SG-Manu Ginobili (5) Mike Miller (2) 7 13 total

SF- Andrei Kirkilenko (3) and Tyrus Thomas (3) 19 total

PF-Pau Gasol (6) 25 total

C- Joel Pryzbilla (2) 27 total

Coach Mike D’Antoni

TEAM NAME: Yenrac Awesomes

Reasons:
1) Calderon perhaps isn’t an all league defender, but he’s a very underrated PG, a good passer, an avg defender, he can shoot a bit, and I presume he’ll be healthy. Jack is a nice defender to give a secondary look (And keeps the pt totals in line). Caleron would be awesome with D’Antoni’s system playing with fellow Spaniard Gasol.

2) sg’S. I wanted Wade so bad that I struggled, but with an above average PG already in tow and with Manu pretty much nipping in the Wade’s stratosphere if healthy, that’s a nice fall back. I preusme the shifty lefty will be back, he brings defense, instant offense, those crazy deceptive Left moves and good in the paint moves, and a natural leader. Mike Miller’s a total bargain as a 2, though that presumes the indififerent Mike Miller of Minnesota was the indifferent Mike Miller. He was solid 2 years ago and I think will have a resurgent year as a tall very solid shooter, and a leader on the court.

3) AK47 and Thomas give us the flexibility as they can be the 3/4 spots together at times and give you solid athleticism, solid defense and underrated play. Tyrus can still learn from Andrei as his understudy, and AK47 might not be worth $17M or whatever he’s getting, but he’s no 3 if these other guys are 3’s. He’s a 4 and is somewhat under utlized in Sloan’s system. If he wasn’t making $5M too much he’d be a great trade to have…. I would love to see Tyrus blossom though.

4) Gasol. Obviously his versatility and great O and improving D game are vital. He’s the 4/5, who probably would play a bit more 5 like he did in the finals last year….and we’d run more TYrus and AK47 lineups alongside.

5) Joel Pryzbilla. I wanted Noah so bad here, but chose Tyrus instead of Joakim. Pryzbilla offers enough hustle and grit to be a solid starting C, playing probably 30 MPG with him being subbed by Gasol playing the other 18 minutes at the C spot and 18 at the PF spot (AK47 plays 30 MPG 15 and 15 between the 3/4. Tyrus plays 30 MPG with 15 at the PF spot and 15 at the 3. Mike Miller plays 28 MPG, with 13 at the 3 and 15 at the 2. Ginobili plays 35 MPG with 5 at the 3, 30 at the 2. Jack plays 20 MPG, 17 at the PG and 3 at the SG. Calderon plays 31 MPG.

I like it. The Yenrac Awesomes your 2010 NBA champs.

Ha

Yeah, I probably would have if Hinrich was the 3 he deserved to be (though to me he’s a 4 in Calderon’s league with less O skills but far better D skills, but the injury after a bad yr kept him a 3 right now), taken Hinrich in lieu of Calderon and taken Kyle Korver instead of Tyrus Thomas, and picked Wade instead of Ginobili.

Hinrich (3)/Jack (2) 5 pts total
Wade (7) backed with Miller (2) 14 pts total
AK47 (3)/Korver (2) 19 pts total
Gasol (6) 25 pts total
Pryzbilla 2 27 pts total.

I think that lineups better because of Wade’s brilliance….

Bulls Re-Make

This is the best Bulls Re-make team i could come up with:
PG: Joe Johnson (6) = Ron Harper but better. He can play point, good passer, etc.
SG: Kobe (7) = MJ
SF: Ariza (3) = Pippen, good defender, can shoot the 3
PF: Chris Anderson (3) = Rodman
C: Joel Pryzbilla (2) = Luc Longley
Bench 1: Dejuan Blair (2) = Jason Caffey
Bench 2: Danilo Gallinari (2) = Toni Kukoc (best i could come up with)
Bench 3: Steve Blake (2) = Steve Kerr

Chicago Awesomes

PG: TJ Ford (3)(Too fast)
SG: Dahntay Jones (2)(I will take full advantage of him being only two points)
SF: Trevor Ariza (3)(Can defend and shoot the three)
PF: Amare Stoudemire (6)(Would be a beast on offense)
C: Dwight Howard (7)(Would also be a beast down low)
G Backup: D.J Augustine (2)(Good point guard with the offensive skills to play some shooting guard)
SF Backup: Corey Brewer(2)(Solid small forward that can defend and shoot)
F/C Backup: Channing Frye(2)(Highly underrated big man that was considered a rare draft success by Isiah. Would be good enough to start on a championship team)

Things could be worse. We could have kept Boylan.

I just went for value based on the numbers, Lebron is the easiest pick here imo, Ginobli is good value at 5 and then I filled in based on remaining pts and value at the 3/2 spots.

by RyPac13 on Aug 13, 2009 11:43 PM CDT reply actions

Sloan would be my coach too, followed by Brown and D’antoni. I think those 3 are pretty far ahead of the rest, particularly Sloan and Brown.

by RyPac13 on Aug 13, 2009 11:45 PM CDT reply actions

Well this is fun

Depends what you’re looking for. You can’t make the Lakers with this, funnily enough [Odom/Bynum/Gasol/Kobe/Artest by itself is 28]. You can make a good and ‘up-and-coming’ team, and that’s what I’d probably do, i.e.:
-PG Westbrook(3)/ DJ Augustine(2)
-SG Eric Gordon(4)
-SF Kevin Durant(6)/Michael Beasley(4)
-PF Anthony Randolph(3)
-C DeAndre Jordan(2)/Joakim Noah(3)

That gets me to 27. [I had Love in Randolph’s place, but I guess I’ll have to wait out the growing pains.]
Look at that team. Imagine that. That would be an incredible team to watch for the next decade.

Oh, also, with this lineup I'd definitely do D'Antoni

Your starting PG and C’s can’t shoot, but everybody else can, especially if Beasley plays the 4 [which he can do!].

BAH.

I support the Tornado Release [See: Joakim Noah]

by Prevenge on Aug 14, 2009 12:01 AM CDT up reply actions

+ reasons:

-Westbrook: Arguably the most athletic/strongest PG in the league, massive upside, still figuring out the PG position, gets a bunch of rebounds.
-Augustine as backup: Good shooter/backup who can play the 2 if needed [though not really defensively … Westbrook can play the 2 defensively!!] and distribute the ball well.
-Gordon as SG: Assuming he’s not been screwed by the Clippers, EG can put the ball into the basket – and is crazy athletic/etc. to boot.
-Durant and Beasley as SF’s: Durant has the potential to eclipse LBJ in a bit and is a scoring machine, and Beasley gives us flexibility as a 3/4 and can just flat-out score.
-Randolph: He’s 19 and was invited to the USA Select team, I rest my case, etc.
-DeAndre/Joakim: A toss-up between DeAndre and Javale[the Wizards Pterodactyl], but they’re both good project C’s who hustle, dunk, and defend fairly well. Noah’s a legit C who can and will get better and provides all the little things you need to win [sans J].

six of seven defensive minded players means the scottsdale dynasty, under coach mike (no)d ’antoni runs roughshod über alles! too many blocks and steals, too many stops, too much transition, too many dunks on you! no pg necessary!

interestingly, the rules stated “limited to three (6) players”, but that’s 18. leaving 9 for the remaining 5 players, so no can do, right?

sweet idea

ratings are actually pretty fair, but hers my team

pg- 3 pts Westbrook, too good to pass up for 3.

sg- 6 pts, Roy. Can play point in end game when Thabo (2 pts) plays defense against there sg/pg.

sf- Battier (3 pts) defense minded, good 3 pt shooter. Backup Corey Brewer (2 pts)

pf- Bosh (6 pys) offensive minded, rebounds well, defense can be picked up through coaching or rest of team.

Who’ll straighten out and develop them all really well.

Then you get fired

You get 1 point to get guys
Maybe you can go coach the Kings or something after they trade Kevin Martin for Quincy Douby.

I support the Tornado Release [See: Joakim Noah]

Dude, you don't have a point guard.

I mean, I guess you could play like Cleveland, with Lebron as point forward, but I don’t know, it’s doubtful.

Things could be worse. We could have kept Boylan.

by stupidgenius on Aug 15, 2009 12:53 PM CDT up reply actions

BG is my point. Plus Thabo, manu, and Lebron can bring it up when needed. And they can initiate the offense too.

by Trey23 on Aug 15, 2009 3:47 PM CDT up reply actions

Come on

I’m a BG fan and I don’t trust him at the 1. Don’t be offended, but IIRC, weren’t you a detractor while he was still here?

Things could be worse. We could have kept Boylan.

Intended =)

it’s a curse i can’t help it……

by BigBabyCollin on Aug 18, 2009 7:28 PM CDT reply actions

This is cool

Tim Duncan 6
Manu 5
Calderon 4
Ariza 3
Javelle McGee 2
Anthony Randolph 3
James Johnson 2
Jarrett Jack 2
Coach Jerry Sloan

I would play Duncan at center and pair him with Anthony Randolph. Johnson and Jack give me guys who can play multiple postions off the bench (Jack 1/2 and Johnson 3/4). McGee is an athletic, intriguing young big and Ariza can defend and space the floor. Calderon is a solid shooter and playmaker and of course Manu and TD are all world.
