Time to make some noise part 2

Captain Kirk for Sergio Rodriguez and Kenny Thomas: Two expiring contracts, one of which we could either buyout or bench, for Kirk's contract. and a draft pick or two. Thomas is washed up even as a journeyman, but Spanish Chocolate might be an inexpensive (and exciting) back up for Rose at the PG spot. Both of these contracts expire after this year, and it is doubtful that Sactown will be a major player in the FA bonanza of 2010. However, they need an upgrade at PG and a tandem of Kirk and Beno Udrih added to Tyreke Evans and Kevin Martin could be a VERY good backcourt.

Sacramento Depth Chart:

PG: Kirk Hinrich/Beno Udrih

SG: Kevin Martin/Tyreke Evans

SF: Francisco Garcia/Chapu/Omri Casspi

PG Jason Thompson/Donte Greene/Sean May

C: Spencer Hawes

Bulls Depth Chart after my two proposed trades:

PG: Rose/Rodriguez/Hunter

SG: Salmons/Pargo

SF: Johnson/Salmons/K. Thomas/T.Thomas

PF: Boozer/T.Thomas/Noah/K Thomas

C: Noah/B. Miller/Boozer/Gray/J. James

I admit it's a gamble, especially at the 2 and 3. But our current depth chart is a gamble, and it doesn't leave us with a ridiculous amount of cap space. With Boozer, Miller, Jerome James, Kenny Thomas, Tyrus Thomas, Rodriguez, etc coming off the books, theoretically at least we could perhaps sign a DWade, A Lebron and a discounted Carlos Boozer in the 2010 offseason, and have a starting lineup like this:

Rose

Wade?/Salmons/?

James?/Salmons/Johnson

Boozer?/Noah/Johnson

Noah/Asik/?

That starting lineup plus filler (Salmons/Johnson/Asik, etc...) would be ridiculous...

Won't happen

SAC drafted Tyreke to the be the point guard of the future not to have him be a back up SG.

Nope

if we were going to dump Hinrich’s salary on anyone, it would have been Portland this summer (before the Miller signing obviously). I’m pretty sure Kurt stays, unless Minny decides they need to add a PG (just for fun, they seem to like stockpiling that position).

The only other way I can see a team taking on Kurt’s contract is an Orlando Magic-like situation where a starting PG for a contending team goes down and they need a replacement bad if they want a shot at the Finals. Say, if Jameer goes down again or if Tony Parker gets hurt. Something like that.

by Rose Colored Goggles on Aug 10, 2009 1:03 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah dude, I know that

haven’t you been on BaB long enough to get the running “Kurt” joke? Listen to Vinny in interviews when he refers to Hinrich. He calls him Kurt every time. Still.

by Rose Colored Goggles on Aug 10, 2009 5:02 PM CDT up reply actions

I do agree that T-Mac is our best bet

if we want to dump some bad contracts. Kirk and Deng for T-Mac and picks would work — it’s just a question of giving up that much talent. We would have to be pretty certain we could sign at least 1 max guy next summer..

by Rose Colored Goggles on Aug 10, 2009 1:50 PM CDT up reply actions

How about

Houston gets: Deng and Hinrich to start rebuilding (whether or not Yao comes back)
Utah gets: serviceable big man Brad Miller’s expiring contract,
Chicago gets: Tracy McGrady (oft injured, playing for a contract though) and Carlos Boozer (also oft injured, also in a contract year).

Then in Summer 2010 when Tyrus and Jerome James also come off the books the Bulls target Wade, James and Bosh (if can’t get Bosh sign Boozer or STAT)

It’s a huge gamble, crazy, but if the Bulls can make the playoffs, it just..might…work…

That would be crazy.

So we’re going to try this roster for the year?

PG: Rose/Hunter
SG: McGrady/Pargo
SF: Salmons/Johnson
PF: Boozer/Tyrus
C: Noah/Gray

That bench is a piece of shit other than the 3 and 4, but that starting lineup guarantees that we get 3rd or 4th in the conference.

Then in 2010 the only contracts we have on the books are:

Rose
Salmons (if he opts in)
Johnson
Noah
Gibson

We could get Bosh and Wade, and then have a starting lineup of this.

PG: Rose
SG: Wade
SF: Salmons
PF: Bosh
C: Noah

That’s like a younger, more talented version of Boston! Too bad the front office has no balls, and probably never even thought of doing something like that.

Things could be worse. We could have kept Boylan.

James is staying in CLE, they can offer the most money
Wade is 50/50, Bosh is 50/50

The more I think about it, I don’t think we’re getting any big FA in 2010.

by C Smoove on Aug 10, 2009 3:35 PM CDT reply actions

See, Boston did it thru trades, which is a lot different than tumbling the dice on FA’s coming. It’s much preferable to do what Boston did. Otherwise, if we chuck all salaries and no comes here, we will be standing around lookin real stupid.

If LeBron is staying in Cleveland...

why is he not signing that extension? Ditto for Dwyane..I’d say the 2010 Summer FA bonanza is up in the air until it isn’t. LeBron signs with CLE and D Wade with MIA…both are 50/50 until they sign. I’d say, unless Bosh has a great time running with the best team in Europe (seriously Bargnani, Turkoglu, Bellinelli, Calderon, Nesterovic and Euro-by default Carlos Delfino??) he’s gone too. Chicago can get under the cap by a lot AND sign two of those three…lemme hear you say Yes We Can Chicago?

by Carlitro on Aug 10, 2009 5:30 PM CDT reply actions

we cant :(

there are going to be salary cap changes before the 2010 free acency and bulls might be able to only sign one superstar

It’s called playing the field and doing yer due diligence. No other team can offer LeBron more than CLE.

We are only gonna be like 17-20 under the cap so at best we can sign one of em.

Continued Bosh love???

What really makes him max contract really special??

I take it all back...

blame it on a momentary infusion of excessive optimism. LeBron stays, Wade stays. Bosh is no savior but would look really good next to one of those two as the number 2 guy on a squad. Prolly won’t be the bulls though…at least we lucked into Rose. I think Noah might be a keeper, maybe Deng if can stay healthy…GarPaxDorf will let Tyrus walk unless he suddenly morphs into the love child of Kenyon Martin (vintage 2002) and Shawn Marion. I dunno, nbadraft.net was high enough on James Johnson to rate him a “95” which is a steal for a #16…maybe he morphs into the love child of Danny Granger and Carmelo Anthony…<>

realism

hrmm this is a realistic point of view, due to as much as i pray everynite for wade to come i cant see it hapening and it kills me!!! lol…yer i like james johnson and the future but we got players with ages all over the place. Also comment about bosh is so true. other teams already have there star and now just need to add. we need to sign 2? this season is going to be very important, we need to finish 5th or forget about wade :(
