Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

Don't think this is a new rumor, but I am not an insider so I don't know if there is any new info here

Question was asked on Blazers Edge as well.

link.

I think the ESPN article is reproduced there in its entirely, which is usually an internet no-no. But when ESPN charges for links and snipets to news stories published elsewhere for free (As in their source was this Oregonian story), I’m not sure exactly how to react. Especially since the original story didn’t seem to come to the conclusion that Andre Miller was a possibility in Portland, merely that his agent thought that it would be a good fit.

Of course, ESPN has also run stories based on unconfirmed twitter feeds, so this shouldn’t surprise me.

insider pisses me off because of that.

it’s one thing to charge for content they produce on their own site, but another just to reproduce another story you can get for free.

gotcha

any opportunity to ween people off the worldwide leader, I’ll take. Though I do still enjoy their .com NBA writers. Unfortunately a lot of that is pay-only.

while i'm lazy and don't like to pay

it’s one thing to charge for original content, and another for a link to a source that is already free.

I've been reading the SI rumors page lately and kinda dig...

For my true fans, I feel bad for them. The longtime fans of the Chicago Bulls – I just felt like they’re being cheated. Not with me, but just things that happened in the past. I feel like the fans deserve a lot better. - BG7

I think ESPN was running that as their lede.

Hence it was probably their mistake that was misunderstood exactly the way they wanted it to be.
