List of 2010 free agents (start choosing)

I know it’s too early for the great summer of 2010. There’s a full season ahead of that. But I think we could start choosing who do we want most and what others players we should persue in the case of the first two - I hope the Bulls have enough money to sign two max free agents to play with Rose and Noah - end up elsewhere.

Now, here is a list of players who are going to be/might be free agents in 2010. From that list, I would clearly focus my attention in signing Wade and Bosh. I really don’t care much about LeBron. He can go to the Big Apple or wherever he wants, because the Bulls would be almost unbeatable with a core of Rose/Wade/Bosh.

But since there’s a chance we don’t get anyone of those Big Three (LeBron/Wade/Bosh), I think we would be ok with Manu/Johnson and Amare/Boozer/Nowitzki. They are older than the top three, but maybe they could also help Rose get ring.

Surprisingly, my first thought is "what's all the fuss about"

After the big three and Joe Johnson the choices go down hill real fast. Look at the centers for example. As little as I know about Asik, I’d rather take my chances with him. It looks to me that the best way to get a player we might want would be to trade expiring contracts to a team that wants/needs cap relief-for someone like Chandler. Do I want Chandler? I’m not sure; I’m just saying. That and trying to trade for potentially high draft picks, which are usually protected for some number of years.

After missing out on the really good players, the Bulls sign

Raja Bell and bring back Brad Miller.

don't be so pessimistic

there’s still a chance Ron Mercer could come out of retirement

Granny

You are always the optimist lol I think the Bulls have one player in mind and that is Bosh.

by bluezman7 on Jul 4, 2009 9:21 AM CDT reply actions

Wade, Bosh and Johnson

Not having Gordon opens up the possibility for Wade and Joe Johnson. If we cannot get Wade I like Joe Johnson. Ideal is both Bosh and Wade. I have a hunch that Atlanta is not going to have a good year which may open February trade possibilities for Johnson.

I'd be happy to walk away with

Joe Johnson and Amare. I like how they fit with Rose, as they don’t need to have the ball in their hands all of the time to be effective.

by dakoose on Jul 4, 2009 10:10 AM CDT reply actions

agreed...

I’m really thinking Joe Johnson is a better fit with Rose than anyone else thats available. Obviously Wade is the better/more talented player, all things equal and assuming interest from both players then we need to decide if Wade is that much more talented than JJ to discount JJ’s fit (if that makes sense)

The difference between Amare or Bosh doesn’t matter all that much to me. Adding a big time 4 is what we need and either one of these guys will do.

If all they end up with is Joe Johnson after all this

I’ll laugh my ass off.

jo johnson… Ben Gordon is better

by Faizamaze on Jul 4, 2009 11:27 AM CDT up reply actions

Indeed, but if he's the guy you're doling out 75-80 million dollars to

That’s a bad bad bad signing.

The Chicago Bulls.....the more profitable Los Angeles Clippers.

like the Bulls would pay that much for Joe Johnson

we’ll hear ’he’s not a true star who deserves that money’ so they’ll just sign someone worse.

i dont get why

we arent pursuing david lee?
i mean its not written in gold that were gonna get bosh..

by Faizamaze on Jul 4, 2009 11:27 AM CDT reply actions

David Lee

He is a restricted FA made 1.7 mil last year…I read Knicks would sign and trade him…but I cannot find what he would want as a contract….I wonder if the Knicks would sign and trade him for Deng :) We solve two problems a. Deng’s uncertainabilty and cap space

by bluezman7 on Jul 4, 2009 11:43 AM CDT reply actions

That would be

Awesome a sign and trade for Deng…
Then get iverson
Rose
Iverson
Salmons
Lee/Tyrus
Noah

by Faizamaze on Jul 4, 2009 11:46 AM CDT up reply actions

Please

no more Iverson to Chicago talk. I will turn in my goggles and retire my fandom.

by Rose Colored Goggles on Jul 6, 2009 12:57 PM CDT up reply actions

Lee wants 10 mil but will probably get 7-9 unless OKC starts to show more interest. Rumors had them wanting to offer 7 or something in that range but that they did not offer it b/c they knew NYK would match. Just rumors, but it all makes some sense. Every other rumor I’ve read has OKC not showing much interest. Portland already has Oden and Pryzbilla, so I don’t think they are that interested in Lee. Not many other teams have the money, Detroit already signed BG and Villenueva, Toronto is getting Turk…

Sign and trade doesn’t sound too bad. Something like Tyrus, a pick and expiring to get Lee and Chandler, or Lee for expiring contracts would seem attractive to me. Otherwise, we can’t just outright sign Lee without going into the luxury tax, something we all know won’t happen.

A.I. ?

I am not sure about A.I. wearing a Bulls uniform

by bluezman7 on Jul 4, 2009 11:49 AM CDT reply actions

David Lee

Lee is looking for 9-10 mil a year ….yeah right ….I do not want him wearing a Bulls uniform….I think Tyrus blocked more shots last week than Lee has his whole career

by bluezman7 on Jul 4, 2009 12:15 PM CDT reply actions

Lee is a good rebounder sure, but he does want 10 mill…his stats are inflated from the D’Antoni system. A good role player but not a true difference maker.

I love Ben too but Johnson is much better. Ben is a better shooter but Johnson can still score and is multi-dimensional…a tad overrated but a complete SG.

We need 2 players a SG and a PF from 2010

Wade or Johnson and Amare or Bosh, any combination would be key to be actual title contenders.

I’m sure we’ll only end up getting one player, most likely Johnson by himself.

Faizamaze’s proposed lineup is total booty…yuck….

by C Smoove on Jul 4, 2009 12:22 PM CDT reply actions

Fuck u lol

booty?
i was a lineup for 2009-2010
but you guys have to bein so sure that were even gonna get bosh OR wade forget AND..
im just sayin, with this management u never kno

by Faizamaze on Jul 4, 2009 12:28 PM CDT up reply actions

agreed..

Wade/Johnson AND amare/bosh…if we get any combination of that I don’t care who you “liked” or wanted thats a VERY successful off-season-especially for Gar PaxDorf

Damn right!

If you’re gonna dream, dream big. Lebron and Bosh for 2010!!!

The Summer of 2010

is a sham. Most of these guys wont be leaving their teams, considering they can get the largest paydays from their current squads. This summer will end up having alot more movement. Bulls best chance at a all star is going to be around the trade deadline.

by brose on Jul 5, 2009 8:24 PM CDT reply actions

Exactly

which is why the Bulls will do trades with teams over the LT that desperately need to get under.

by hlac on Jul 5, 2009 11:36 PM CDT up reply actions

Is Ron Mercer still playing?

Why don’t we sign him and bring back Miller? Then we can draft another 7 foot Dalibor Bagaric clone and it’ll be like the year 2000 all over again!

by Carlitro on Jul 6, 2009 10:38 AM CDT reply actions

but seriously: one big and one wing...

Bosh and either James or Wade or (consolation prize) Johnson. If James Johnson plays well and we get Johnson, they could do commercials for johnson and johnson.

by Carlitro on Jul 6, 2009 10:40 AM CDT reply actions

If the Bulls sign Joe Johnson and keep James Johnson,

we could have “Big Johnson” and “Little Johnson” to replace “Big Ben” and “Little Ben”.

(OK, I will stop now.)
