Iverson to the Bulls in Gordon S/T?!?!

According to Ken Berger at CBSSports, there is a Ben Gordon sign and trade situation that would send Gordon to Detroit and Iverson to the Bulls. Details to come but if we get Iverson I could only assume Kirk is gone. I doubt the Bulls are thinking win-now, Iverson might only get a one year contract so we could dump Kirk and still have a combo guard behind Salmons and Rose. This move might give us the flexibility to sign 2 decent players and get a top 10 pick next year. Addition by subtraction.

I called this

five minutes after the Gordon signing was announced and got flagged, tagged and dissed. I don’t care for Iverson personally, but the move is way less stupid then it seems at first glance. Especially when Ding gets injured again and we have to move Salmons back to the three. No one else seems to want him, and he can be had for the mid-level exception. If the Lakers can handle a certified whack job like Artest, we should be able to handle Iverson. And, as a hidden benefit, if he fucks things up and destroys team chemistry, we can always blame Vinny and fire him! No lose situation if you ask me.

No thanks

I’d rather have Hinrich than Iverson on the team as currently constructed. Iverson’s game is too similar to Rose and neither one of them are really known for their defense. Hinrich is a better spot up shooter and doesn’t need the ball all the time like Iverson in order to get his shot off. Adding Iverson (and keeping him) would only slow down Rose’s development because he’d lose out on some minutes and wouldn’t have the ball in his hands as often which is absolutely crucial at this stage in his career because he needs to learn how to run a team and make smart decisions. I could only see this happening so the Bulls could deal Iverson and his expiring contract at the deadline.

The plan is to lose Hinrich

Adding Iverson subtracting Kirk for cap space. Let Iverson walk next season after teaching Derrick a few moves (which I think Derrick could learn about attacking the rim and shooting from watching Iverson). We would have Rose, Deng, Noah, two 2010 free agents (not 2 big ones but maybe 1), a top ten in the draft, Taj, JJ and Tyrus if we want. The plan is to make a push in 3 years right now we cant compete be honest.

I would like this to be for the record

Iverson is a cancer and he will never win a title being a first 4 option and the only reason why this move is ok in my mind is because of cap reasons and that he makes our team WORSE. Only to get us a better draft pick to go woth next years free agent pick up(s).

by TRiCioNeRo on Jul 3, 2009 11:32 AM CDT up reply actions

well it's not like we can compete

…with teams like the lakers, orlando, boston, cleveland, and san antonio, especially since they all just got better…..instead of losing in the first round of the playoffs again, i’d rather do terrible for one year, and have a high draft pick and tons of cap space for 2010 (hmmm maybe we could trade deng away and pick up 3 good FA’s next summer)

This season would be a great success

If we move Deng and Hinrich for expiring deals or a better player. 3 free agents wow it could work. As in the words of a one Peter Griffin “Wait a minute, thats the smartest thing ive eve heard anyone say about anything”.

Alright, I’m calling it: ‘development by osmosis’ has officially jumped the shark.

no matter what

we are taking a step back for next year. I say fuck it and at least get make a move to try and salvage next season. I think the least we will be getting is a super sub.

by drosekillsall on Jul 3, 2009 12:08 PM CDT reply actions

Iverson has no interest in being a super sub. None. Detroit tried that and it didn’t work out. What is Iverson going to teach Derrick? Derrick shoots as well as AI ever did. AI was never a great shooter. Derrick already knows how to drive to the hoop, he just doesn’t get calls.

I don’t see how AI helps

by C Smoove on Jul 3, 2009 12:25 PM CDT reply actions

well how about he teaches derrick how to get calls?

AI is one of the greatest guards to play in the NBA, and even though he’s older and not nearly as good as he used to be, he knows a lot about the game. he’s been around for 13 years or something like that…..

That being said, I don’t really see him coming to the bulls because I don’t see what detroit gets out of all this… they can sign BG without our help. besides, the stubborn bulls front office probably wont want to deal with BG and his agent….

See Red, BABY!

Ric Bucher

from ESPN shot down this rumor a couple of hours ago. He said that was completely no truth to it.

Bucher's been on fire the past week, so I'll buy it

He’s usually horrible with anything non-Kobe.

The Chicago Bulls.....the more profitable Los Angeles Clippers.

D. Rose + A.I. = Finals

Rose can play off the ball and is our best finisher Iverson is a two guard that likes to create it will wok

by mustanging5 on Jul 3, 2009 3:08 PM CDT reply actions

I'm thinking we may as well trade back for Hughes while we're at it

Hughes, Iverson … we can get Ricky Davis from no-man’s land, Zack Randolph from the Grizzlies [morons] and Eddy Curry from the Knicks!
Woooooo! Best team in the L!

We need Marbury too!

Iverson...

sucks. But I would take him if we could get rid of a big contract.

by McCabe on Jul 3, 2009 6:16 PM CDT reply actions

Get AI and then ship him to Toronto for Bosh

After losing BG, I just want the Bulls to get Bosh. Nothing less

by bull83 on Jul 3, 2009 6:21 PM CDT reply actions

AI + the bulls

I don’t think adding Iversion to bulls is gonna to affect the bulls chemistry. As we know, with BG gone, we don’t know what kind of team chemistry would be like when the bulls find out their offensive isn’t running well as the season goes on (it’s not gonna to be the same kind of team chemistry we’ve seen in the playoff w/o BG clutch basket) Iversion is a special player, just show him some love.

by Calvin X on Jul 4, 2009 12:48 AM CDT reply actions

the bulls are already over the salary cap and have yet to sign their draft picks…..A.I. is not coming to the bulls …..unless we can dump jerome james ….tim thomas …Also to the person that posted about sign and trade in regards to FA a player can get more (10%) from his current team than he can signing with another team as a FA

by bluezman7 on Jul 4, 2009 7:38 AM CDT reply actions

It would have to be a sign and trade with Detroit,

with Gordon for Iverson.
