Could this be Dumar's post-signing-Gordon plan?

Trade Rip Hamilton for Igauskas's expiring contract.

Done and done.

It makes some sense for the Cavs now that they have Shaq. LeBron could always use a Reggie Miller-lite jump shooter. And Shaq could find Rip for plenty of open jumpers too. Maybe Cleveland would consider this move since the Artest signing has heated up their arms race with L.A.

And it gives the Pistons cap space to go after a big 2010 FA (if Sports 2 is right, and I'm sure he is). It would certainly be a nice way to shoot for adding a frontline talent to the good complementary guys they signed this off season.

What do you guys think?

not bad

for both teams, but not sure if Cleveland would want to help a division foe get cap space for the summer of Lebron

The Cavs desperately need some 4 depth

Right now they have 3 bigs: Shaq, Ilgauskas and if you want to count him Hickson….

I sure hope they’re forced to throw Shaq and Ilgauskas together (that’s a lineup to run on) and they have to be worried about Shaq’s foul issues and possible health, and Big Z’s possible health.

Varejao to them is probably more important than he is to any other team right now….

If they lost Ilgauskas, they’d have 2 real bigs. Lebron can play some 4, but I think if you put him at the 4 full time it’ll lower his stats, and I don’t know if he can handle that…

THE BULLS ARE GOING TO WIN IN 2010....maybe by stating this the positive vibes can make it happen.

Varejao

Clearly the Cavs have to re-sign him. Otherwise their front court is woefully thin.

Detroit Helping Cavs

Unlikely, same division foes usually don’t trade with each other. Helping your enemy is never good.
