Hooray
Artest will hurt more than he helps….
He’s on the overrated list (offense killer, not the defender he was in the past, a good defender but no longer all league defender, but he’s terribly undisciplined offensively even if he’s on good behavior).
There’s a reason the Rockets tried to trade him last year and aren’t interested in bringing him back.
THE BULLS ARE GOING TO WIN IN 2010....maybe by stating this the positive vibes can make it happen.

I am just happy it is not Cleveland...
As was all the rage today on PTI…Artest will really help the Lakers a lot…this is an instant upgrade over Ariza.

Yeah, but now it opens Cleveland up to get Ariza.

Which is probably a better pick-up than Artest
especially considering how important “team chemistry” seems to be to the Cavs.

You know what hurts?
we can go down as one of the greatest franchises ever…if we just spend some $…just a lil…or make smart moves..so far, were heading to the Wizards’ zone
I was watching the 1995 Playoffs VS the Magic's and remembered how much I hated Horace Grant. Horace Grant - i hope you burn in bball hell

Artest has always been a good play on a pretty bad team
With the exception of Houston.

At this point
it comes down to can do what the Lakers will ask him to do. And why can’t he? The Lakers are stacked. I don’t see why this won’t make them better. He will happily be going after a ring with the Lakers. If he can’t make it work there he can’t anywhere else. He’ll be going into this situation pretty positive.
Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

I don't blame them
I mean he’s willing to play for the mid level, why not?
I’m just saying I would rather have Ariza personally

The Lakers are going to be HUGE.
Bynum, Gasol, Odom, Artest, Kobe as a lineup, if they want. They won’t even really have to try and they’ll play adequate defense.
It will be interesting to see if Kobe can hold Artest in check — if Ron Ron keeps jacking up off-balance threes we might see Mamba turn nasty.

Artest is a MAJOR upgrade from Ariza!!!!
I hate L.A, but they are gonna be much better than this year’s team! I hope the Celts get Sheed so they can hang with L.A?

why does it seem like all other 29 teams are trying to get better while we are busy letting talent walk
even the damn champs are picking up talent and upgrading

Exactly
i dont think ive read one BULL rumor

not EVERY team is trying to get better
just the ones who were already good. In other words, we should start scouting next year’s lottery crop.

It's hilarious how the big market and contending teams
are using their superiority over smaller teams and cities to flex their financial muscle (minus the Knicks, who will be doing this soon enough) and add talent to their rosters. Meanwhile the Bulls let their players go because they’re fucking terrified of the luxury tax.

Oh,
and we made more profit than the Lakers the last 4 years straight.

ariza made almost 50% of his threes during the finals
and absolutely locked down Turkoglu. does anyone really think artest will be better than that? did anyone watch the houston-la series? artest is a huge ball hog. huge. i dont love this move by a team that was a lot of fun to watch this year.

If Phil Jackson could get the best out of Rodman,
he should be able to handle Ron Artest.

Rodman didn't take 15 idiotic jump shots a game
And Dennis still acted like a dumbass every season he was here. The Bulls just didn’t bother policing him half the time.
The Chicago Bulls.....the more profitable Los Angeles Clippers.

Exactly - Phil knew what was important to control and what could be ignored.
The Bulls just didn’t bother policing him half the time.

Pippen/ Rodman Hybrid
Artest is a little nutty (thats being nice), but he is still a very good player. If you think about it, Artest has many of Pippen and Rodman qualities and stregnths. Kobe finally got his Robin. Kobe has a chance to actually pass up Jordan in rings with this signing. With the team LA has, its not unthinkable that Kobe could win 3 more rings.
Disclaimer: Pippen was MUCH better than Artest will ever be → lets not start a long exchange arguing over that.

While Artest could single-handedly destroy the offensive flow
It seems like he respects Kobe too much to get out of hand.
He came pretty cheap, so good for them (I guess).

The Lakers are scary-good now
Shaq to the Cavs looks like a mini-move next to the Vince Carter and Ron Artest acquisitions.
And poor Houston. They’re making all the right moves, and then McGrady gets hurt and sucks, Yao’s career could be over, Mutombo’s career is over, and Artest skips town. All their crafty moves and no luck, they might not even make the playoffs next year.

I wonder who will rebuild faster, the Bulls or Houston?
by hlac on Jul 2, 2009 11:46 PM CDT up reply actions 0 recs
i think the enthusiasm about Carter
can be tempered a bit by the realization that the Magic are going to lose Hedo. The Magic are still a really good team, but there different.
And I don’t think Houston wanted Artest. They seemed to have settled for Ariza for the mid-level, and when you are trying to rebuild, probably better to go with young v. old. Unless you are the Bulls…

This don’t guarantee a repeat. It’s cool to stack up big names. But will Artest’s chucking ways fit in with the triangle offense? Will Gasol get mad that his touches go down because ol Ron Ron decided to jack up a 3 with 17 seconds left on the shot clock? Also Kobe has lots of miles on his legs and never got surgery on his finger either. At some point, it’s going to get to him.
