Looking back at the 26th pick now...

How do you guys feel about passing up on Douglas and Ellington now that the Bulls apparently put forth a half hearted effort to re sign Gordon?  This has made the Bulls draft more perplexing, I for one believed the Pistons were going to throw that kind of money at Gordon once July 1st hit.  Now we have a roster that has no real back up guys on the wing.  I honestly can't see where this franchise is going right now and I don't think they'll go anywhere unless Vinny can make huge improvements to his coaching next season.

Hopefully Pax is talking to any team that will listen to a package of Tyrus/Deng cause the draft told us they have no faith in Tyrus which I think is a mistake and the last couple of years has told us that Deng isn't the player Pax thought he was getting.  He's a passive 3 with mediocre athletic ability and a solid mid range game that not many others have.

This is why I think there's no plan

Ellington has NBA shooting ability. If nothing else, you could bring him in to space the floor. And if that’s all he ever did he would still likely be way more useful than Gibson.

I guess the Bull’s said as much when they said they approached the draft separately from free agency. Which, looking back on it, is an admission of idiocy.

Agreed. If they knew they weren't going to go after Gordon, then there is no doubt they should...

…have given Ellington a closer look. The guy is potentially a bigger version of Ben Gordon.

i don't understand why they didn't do it in the first place

even if they were trying to keep gordon. it didn’t make sense to draft yet another PF.

How do I feel about passing up Douglas, only to watch the Knicks nab him?

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!

For my true fans, I feel bad for them. The longtime fans of the Chicago Bulls – I just felt like they’re being cheated. Not with me, but just things that happened in the past. I feel like the fans deserve a lot better. - BG7

But don't you remember what Gar ForPaxdorf said about Taj

What he really fell in love with was Taj’s versatility when he saw him defend James Harden… a SG.

So I can only guess Taj is our SG of the future.

He's got that great shot!

I honestly think the Bulls thought that

1. No one was going to offer more than they would.

2. They would have had the chance to match any offer.

If they look back at it the Bulls probably would have drafted different……. unless the plan was always to keep Hinrich……..

maybe

the bulls realized KIRK HINRICH HAS 40% 3pt SHOOTING ABILITY. And is as tall as either of those guys, and plays way better defense, and is on a declining contract, and the ultimate teammate. If hte bulls drafted another guard when would they play? 2 minutes behind the 38 of rose, 32 of salmons ant 26 of hinrich, for the combined 96 minnutes available?

The bulls realised their back court has tons of depth. thats why they didnt draft anyone there. Maybe they thought they needed a back up SF for after this year, when salmons leaves. They need back up big men, after htis year, when Tim thomas and brad miller leave? What would you suggest we do when we have Kirk on the books, Rose, Deng, Noah and Ty Thomas. Force Ty Thomas to play 38 minutes a night cause we have no other optiosn??? i dont think so.

Kirk Hinrich - the ultimate teammate

:::eye roll::::

the Bulls will need to add some back court depth, because if you didn’t notice, Deng and Hinrich spent most of last season on the injured list. For Hinrich, it was the result of a weird accident. But there is no rule saying that Hinrich, Rose and Salmons will be immune from freak accidents in the future.

Deng has been hurt almost every season he has been a Bull. So to count on him to play 75-82 games is not really smart. The Bulls need backcourt depth.

Umm..about Kirk.

He can hit the open 3. But he lacks confidence in his shot so he misses a lot of 3s too. He can shoot but he doesn’t have the shooter’s/scorer’s mentality. I like Kirk as a 6th man but he’s not a capable starting SG. Can’t shoot well enough besides wide open shots. Which he still misses on occasion.

agreed on Kirk

if only he could shake that PG mentality he would be a much bigger asset going into this season. I just felt that the Bulls needed to cover both the front and back court in the draft, not like they don’t have holes every between the 2-4 since none of those guys are as reliable as I would like at least. Deng’s always hurt and highly passive anyways and it also would be real nice for the Bulls to be able to play the 4 guard line up they used in the playoffs that worked pretty well. Can’t really do that with this current roster now that Gordon is gone

Just if we still had J.R. Smith

I bet hell be lifting for 30 days probably going to gain 5 lbs of muscle. I still cant beleive the series of events that took place that summer we might finally be done paying the consequences of the Wallace deal. If we kept him it might of been a great twist.

Deng - average athletic and passive?

He is a great slasher (aggresive) and great athlete when healthy. Have you already forgotten 06-07?

deng is NOT a great athlete...

compared to most starting 3’s in the NBA.

You said,

now that the Bulls apparently put forth a half hearted effort to re sign Gordon
But I have to disagree, at least as far as this off-season goes. They didn’t put any effort into re-signing Gordon. Gar’s lip service b.s. to the press doesn’t count.

after 2 summer league games

I can’t believe what a piece of garbage Taj is. 19 fouls in 2 games??? just pathetic and he’s already 24 years old.
