good stuff

some stuff he should have asked, or been more aggressive..but i get small sense of understaning this cracker jack / popcorn / cheap organization and maybe they got a plan..well i hope they do

I was watching the 1995 Playoffs VS the Magic's and remembered how much I hated Horace Grant. Horace Grant - i hope you burn in bball hell

I still hope they trade Salmons

Now when he still has value.
I feel like he is going to get run down as the season goes on, downplay his value and take his player option next year

Ya know, the way the Bulls are setting things up, I feel like they're going to go after a 2 guard vs a PF in FA, 2010...

I’ve been thinking Bosh was their target next year, and maybe he still is. But if JJ is better at PF, and we have TyT there now, why also draft Taj? Granted, TT could be shipped, and any of them could be moved in order to acquire a Bosh at the deadline; But I just feel like we bought out the expiring contract of Tim Thomas bc of the glut at the 4 that we created by drafting two 4’s. (And you know we’re going to see Brad Miller at the 4 at times next year, too)

Are they planning on going hard after Wade instead of Bosh? If not, why wouldn’t they have taken a guard with #26?

Taj is inconsequential

he was #26 in a crud draft. The court position of that player doesn’t matter in the grand scheme.

Probably, and maybe they truly have no plan. But I have a feeling that this franchise does have some rhyme to it's reasoning...

(or at least they think they do) and I’m trying to understand it. If you’re taking someone in the 1st round and guaranteeing them $, you at least think about it. There were a number of teams that traded for higher draft picks in the 20’s (Knicks, Blazers), so clearly someone values those spots- at least in this draft.

They needed a backup guard because they knew they weren’t resigning Gordon, and this was one of the best PG/G drafts in recent memory. Why the hell wouldn’t they have taken one of the handful of nice G prospects left, instead of signing Pargo & Hunter again? Or if they wanted a shooter who couldn’t play D (like Pargo), why not take Budinger? Did they know they’d buyout TiT before they drafted 2 PFs? So many questions…

by smash! on Jul 15, 2009 6:55 AM CDT up reply actions

before this draft

they knew they wanted Pargo. He was a top priority and he played with Chris Paul. Apparently, the Bulls were impressed with that. Plus, they planned all along to bring Hunter back, so they get a 2 for 1 combo between player and coach. These guys were both extremely cheap and only required one year contracts. The Taj signing is a little harder to explain. They feel that Taj can help coach some of the “youngsters” since he is almost in his 30s already. There trying to develop him early, so as Vinny’s replacement. It’s as easy as cheese.

Makes sense

I don’t think Gordon was a good fit next to Rose either. Too small, and couldn’t defend the perimeter adequately. I know it’s not what Bull fans want to hear, but it positions them well to land one of the four elite players in ’10.

I was just joking

it’s a fair argument. But Rose is going to get much better defensively and therefore he will be able to protect Gordon on D. Gordon is easily one of the best shooters in the league and now the Bulls have to worry about finding a long term answer at shooting guard because Kirk is not the answer. We just lost a major asset for nothing.

Believing Rose is will be eventually be a better defensively is logical,

believing that he’s eventually going to be able to protect Gordon is a lot of faith.

by Scotter on Jul 15, 2009 2:04 AM CDT up reply actions

it's not like Gordon is that bad of a defender, he's just gets a bad rap

for being really short. Rose is so young and so gifted. If he just tries a little harder on D and learns some tricks along the way, he would be able to player better help D and give Ben a hand. It’s not worth giving away Gordon for nothing.

It was a line from Princess Bride

I don’t think Rose can ever become an elite perimeter defender, and frankly I believe its too much to ask of him. He’ll eventually be above-average, but a two-way player is needed at the 2 in order to relieve some pressure off of him on the defensive end.

Btw- I’m not sure who D2.0 is, that’s why I responded with a movie line.
