I Think We're Selling Ourselves Short...
I'm not saying we will be a title contender next year, but we will make the playoffs and be a tough matchup for someone. Most of the teams that got better in the East were already ahead of us
Think about it for a second.. Boston adds Sheed, Orlando gets Vince, the LeBrons pick up Shaq, but what did 4- 6 really do? Atlanta looks like they will come out better, since they kept Bibby and picked up Crawford. But Philly and Miami did absolutely nothing to get better, unless u figure that Brand will actually stay healthy the whole year. Now for the guys below us, Detroit might have snatched up BG, but they have no guys inside. U not doing anything with Kwame Brown as ur best low post option, almost forgot about Charlie V, even though he isn't really an inside player. And their D will be atrocious. Toronto defintely looks to have gotten better, signing Hedo was big for them. Washington getting Arenas back is huge, if he can stay healthy, but they have a team full of guards and none of em r really all that good except Caron, and they all are injury prone. Do Charlotte, Indiana, NJ, or Milwaukee really scare u? They don't scare me.
I'll take a year of aging from D.Rose, Ty, and Noah, a full year of Salmons and Miller, a healthy Deng, and 2 more than servicables rookies against any of those teams. I'm going to predict that we may have lost a 20 pt scorer, but will still have not only one but 2 next season. Salmons will average 20 and D.Rose will average 20. I don't know what his numbers were last year but if D.Rose can hit around 37% of his 3's, he scores 20 easily. We are gonna be more than just respectable. This team will prove a lot of people wrong in their thinking. And end up a very attractive destination for young vets looking for a run at some rings. Fellow Bulls fans keep ur head up.
My predicted Top 8 for the East:
1) Boston
2) Cleveland
3) Orlando
4) Atlanta
5) Toronto
6) Chicago
7) Washington
8) Miami

it's relative
maybe tougher than sixers, pisstons, bobcats, pacers, bucks, nets, and knicks is what he means.

How can we sell ourselves *short* now that we've traded Ben?

Unless the chemistry is there, and D-Rose having an all star year
Im afraid this is gonna be a repeat of the 07-08 season
Chicago: Where Derrick Rose happens
I agree
unless we got an amazing season from Derrick AND Deng, I don’t see us making the playoffs next year
"What gets us into trouble is not what we don't know. It's what we know for sure that just ain't so."
I bet we make the playoffs
It’s pretty easy in the East. However, it will just be a quick first round exit.
Ah, the classic offseason move
Our team didn’t get any better, so now let’s trash all the other mediocre franchises to feel better!
The Chicago Bulls.....the more profitable Los Angeles Clippers.
not only did we not get any better, we got worse. all the while other teams are making moves to improve.
1. Cut a hole in a box
2. Put your Kirk in that box
3. Make some team open that box

no dude
Detroit added 2 players and lost Rasheed Wallace, who had completely stopped caring. They must have gotten worse.
Washington also got Foye and Miller, and will have Arenas and Haywood back. It subtraction by addition.

hahahahahaa
People should remember that while they have the right to their opinion, they are not entitled to be taken seriously. --Bruce Bartlett
Detroit is worse than they were going in to last season
who is going to play defense for them? Prince is all I can think of, and he’s a stick figure. Who do they have inside on both ends of the court? Nobody. If they don’t trade Rip, then who starts at 2, and will that be a distraction? They have another rookie coach.
Washington might be a playoff team, but we’ll see. Arenas hasn’t really played too much since signing his huge contract, and nobody knows how his knees will hold up over the season. They still have very little inside (other than Butler) and play no defense.
Philly will take a step backwards if Brand is healthy, but if Brand gets injured or traded they might make a run.
I believe the Bulls still have the potential to be better
than the teams that improved (Raptors, Pistons, Washington.) It’s just those teams had money to spend this summer and they spent it on mediocore talent. Meanwhile, next summer let’s see what the Bulls do with there cap-space. The Bulls are younger than those teams and are going to have cap space. The only two teams that I am actually scared of in the coming years in the East are Orlando and Cleveland.

i really want the Bulls to be higher than
toronto and miami
these are my predictions in the east
1. Orlando
2. Cavs
3. Boston
4. Chicago
5. Toronto
6. Atlanta
7. Miami
8. Bobcats
"Game 7 of the 2011 Finals.. 10 seconds left in the game, the score is tied up 92-92.. Kobe with the ball he drives in.. IS BLOCKED by bosh, Rose picks it up Runs it down Throws up a pass to Wade.. WADE SCORES! GAME OVER ! BULLS WIN BULLS WIN!"
Washington is going to make the playoffs barring any full season injuries. At best wee are a 7th or 8th seed.
I don’t see Salmons scoring 20. Miller is now only useful for 20 minutes a game tops.
I don’t want to be totally pessimistic but the only way we make the playoffs is Deng blowing up for like 22/8 this year and Tyrus averaging a double double damn near every night.
My main issue is will the D improve? If they can become average at least around 15th in the league, then I like our chances. This year is a total crapshoot to me, emphasis on crap.
Salmons averaged 18 last year
He can average 2 more points a game easily
deng had exactly 22/8 on january 15 vs the lebrons
made 2 key 3ptrs in the 4th, too.
after the jan 12 shellacking vs portland, he had an 11 game run of 18.7/8.7, shooting 82-153, or 54%. then 11 more games where he probably was playing hurt (stress fracture) before sitting out to heal after playing just 15 min on feb 28.
tyrus had a couple of big runs, for a total bust. 9 straight double digit reb games from jan 25 to feb 12. that’s 15.5/9.6 in 34.1 min leading into the break and the trade. from mar 17 on into and including that first playoff game (where he won it with jumpers in o.t.) on apr 18, he had 13 (of 16 games) with double figure rebounds, 14.8/7.4 in 32.7 min.
bulls went 27-22 for their last 49. in those where tyrus played 28+ mins, they went 20-12. that leaves 7-10 for the team when he played <28, including 23 (blowout win vs hornets) and 27 (the next night win, st. patty’s day revenge vs celtics, 10-13 fts).
i think it’s interesting to compare with everybody’s fav noah, keeping in mind that tyrus is 1/2 year (or the length of an nba season) younger, and if he doesn’t play 28+ minutes in those games, the bulls undoubtedly don’t ever even get to meet the celtics. where noah definitely picked it up a couple notches.
you probably know this stuff already, but i’ve just read a couple “optimism” fanposts and couldn’t help myself.
go tyrus go! (don’t trade the bulls’ pf!)

We need to get better
Many teams in the East have made moves to get better. Without a move or two we have no chance of beating the powerhouses in the East. I understand that we want to maintain flexibility for next years free agents. However, I have seen years and years of the Bulls management sitting on their hands and doing nothing. So I do not have the confidence that they can make a move to get big talent next year. I hope so don’t get me wrong, I just don’t count on anything until it is set in stone regarding the Bulls adding talent to the roster. I think we will have a tough time making the playoffs but I can see us getting in if Rose improves this year which most expect him to do. I really want us to be contenders soon I am tired of barely getting into the playoffs and exiting early I think the Bulls fans are very loyal and deserve a better effort from management.
One good move
One good move by management was getting Salmons and Miller late last year. I do think that was a great move, just seems these type of moves have been few and far between.
