Around SBN: How A Letter From Tom Coughlin Helped One Fan's Recovery

Wanna be lucky....or team run right?

After BG is gone for nothing, Bulls fans, especially here, are really angry. Me too. As we know the whole deal came down to Reinsdorf exercising his power as owner to make a point about how he does contracts with players. He always wins, if there's ever any question about who is in control. Why should loyal fans have to put up with that kind of crap?

There really isn't any good answer, except that this is the way pro sports are organized. Most teams actually have a loser owner when you get right down to it, some aspect of personality or mind that makes them singularly ill fitted to run a pro sports team. We have had our fill in Chicago, that's for sure, looking to the ownership of both baseball teams over the years, the Bears, and probably the worst ever in sports : the just ended tenure of BlackHawks owner. I have nothing to offer more than: other fans suffer in other cities as well.

However, being a Bulls fan, one has to note a few moments of sheer luck that have come our way, and changed our fate: MJ getting drafted, and carrying the team, Phil coaching, and now Rose out of absolute blue drops into Bulls uniform. So, the question is, would you rather be lucky with MJ and Rose, or have the team run right, but not get those two players?

Tonight, as I try to escape being stepped on once again by malfeasant ownership, I'm thinking maybe I'd rather be lucky...maybe despite ownership Rose will bring us happy moments of fan fulfillment....and that does bring some solace, some easing of the pain. Best I can do at the moment.

Hmm

Ben is gone..

Salmons slides in as 2, Deng starts at 3

Rose
Salmons
Loul
TT
Noah

Much much better defensive team including Kirk coming off the bench playing time BEn would have played. Also this team has an amazing amount of untapped potential… Rose, Salmons, Deng (healthy), TT, and Noah..Salmons may be older but hes gonna get a chance to be a sg with a pg of Rose..

While losing BG isnt something i wanted with a healthy Luol and much better forwards coming off the bench this year I still have high hopes for an 09 team that can now make a signing in 2010..

<—-still a happy guy

We could have that starting lineup

AND have Ben come off of the bench. He won’t be starting in Detroit(I think), so whats to say he wouldn’t have come off of the bench here when Deng’s health returns?

Problem is

Salmons is almost twice as productive when playing the 3 as opposed to the 2. Check his numbers with the Bulls before/after the Deng injury. He has a couple match-up advantages with most SFs in the league that he can’t exploit against the SGs (long range, lateral and vertical quickness). Salmons will be a much less productive SG than Gordon (offensively).

i think that has more to do with starting

as opposed to position

On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!

i thought other people had posted that that isn't true.

and that his numbers as a SG were typically better.

His 82games position splits have been basically even at both positions,

It’s mostly a myth, and it ignores the liabilities Salmons has as a SF particularly rebounding and help defense.

yeah, i recalled

them being fairly similar, with a slight edge to him playing the 2.
