Around SBN: Randy Moss A Raven?

Sam weighs in on Bosh, Kirk and the Derrick Rose thing...Assuming any of this was actually done, it would seem to me it was the schools orchestrating it and the schools who are the villains, not the player, who, by the way, wasn't paid while the university collected millions. As I wrote before, Rose could have played at the Y last year and been the No, 1 pick in the draft. He didn't have to go to Memphis. Do you think it's every South Side kid's dream to be there? It's amazing to hear the self righteous blather about this from a bunch of people I often hear asking Rose for all sorts of favors. Maybe if we were in the U.S., people would wait until there was some actual proof.

Fun.
[Ben Wallace] actually, as we know, retired a few years ago, though his uniform is often out on the court.
Actually, I heard the Bulls talked to Lindsey after the season about returning in a similar players’ role or as a coach and told him to get back to them in the summer about that.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

I thought Sam had finally come around on Tyrus
They should be good with that. A likely backup in Thomas, a guy in Deng whom they won’t know for sure if he can start next season given he’s got a stress fracture and a non lottery pick…To me, the Bulls would have to do something like Salmons, Noah and Tyrus and maybe some picks. Right. Not happening.

While it’d suck to lose both Noah and Tyrus in a deal for Bosh, doing so while giving up Salmons over Deng makes it far more palatable. Of course, this would probably end up having to be some crazy 3 way deal bringing back the Bulls some serviceable big and opening up a little cap space to resign BG.

We have every right to dream heroic dreams. Those who say that we're in a time when there are no heroes, they just don't know where to look.

Boo, you!

Noah all the way.

Three things you must know:
-"Ben Gordon is a bundle of muscle and clutch. That's all he's made of. Drink BG7 energy drink, you'll grow a pair of balls on your balls."
-Pau Gasol: The defense of a seven foot ladder paired with the post presence of Manute Bol.
-Joakim Noah is better than you.

When I really tried to think out a Bosh trade, I figured we have to give up both Tyrus and Noah

I agree it sucks to lose Noah, but I think with Miller still in the fold and likely having a few serviceable years left it could work well.

Especially if we get to keep the 16th pick this year and get Hansbrough or Blair. If we really want to go balls out for a title over the next few years (and if we make this sort of deal, we damn well better try), we can still add another big to boot via the MLE. So ok, how’s

1- Rose, Kirk
2- Ben, Kirk
3- Deng
4- Bosh, Hansbrough
5- Miller

look as a 7 man rotation. Constructively use the MLE, give us good look with Rose’s development and good health, and I think we’ve got a really nice team there.

Free agent wise we target a solid player like Anderson Varejao Josh Childress, Trev Ariza, or Milsap with the MLE. Taking a guy from a competitor like Varejao would be a double-bonus, and he’d fill the need for a defensive guy to play up front.

I could live with that.

That 5 spot is way too weak. Miller was huffing and puffing this year at 30 minutes a game. He was dead in the 4th q of games.

We’d need another big to man the 5 spot, unless you want to swing Bosh down to the 5 spot (which he’s probably not big or strong enough to do).

sure, like Sports2 said

use the MLE and LLE for help up front. Maybe we’d even be at the stage to get veteran discounts.

I’m with him in that Noah is no dealbreaker in a Bosh acquisition.

Like I said, that's where we go with free agency!

There’s actually a pretty fair number of them available. I’d say Varejao and Rasho Nestorovic are definitely MLE worthy. Both are strong guys and decent defenders. Exactly the sort of guys you succeed with in the playoffs.

Failing them, Zaza, Gortat, Chris Andersen, McDyess, or Mihm might be worth a look.

A year down the road, hopefully we bring Asik in as well, but Miller/Rash would be about as solid (while being unspectacular) as you could hope for.

varejao thinks he is getting 10 mil a year. :D

Varejao may think he's the king of England.

Does this mean he is the king of England?
He could get 6. Maybe.

sam sez:
I’d hate to see the Bulls with and use three picks in this draft.
So the Bulls have to be careful. Can you trade Hinrich and then lose Gordon? You won’t know what Gordon will do until July. It would be awfully risky to deal Hinrich at the draft and then have three draft picks at a time you need to stop going young.

excuse me, but is it or is it not true that derrick rose, who the team is being built around, is still like, 20 years of age? i have yet to see a trade rumor that guarantees the bulls vault into the top half of next year’s playoff bracket. (that includes trading all of our front court youth for bosh.) so, as much as reinsdorf might miss pocketing that extra $1M per playoff game, i don’t see it as a disaster if they should even happen to miss them next year somehow.

i do see a chance to add some capable, athletic, young types in a deep draft for low $, however. noah and rose are gonna be just fine as the leaders the team has needed. miller, salmons and deng are plenty enough veteran presence, even if both kirk and ben are goners.
