Around SBN: Dana White Announces Koscheck vs. Hendricks for UFC on FOX

Chris Broussard was just on ESPN and was asked whether the Bulls will keep Gordon. He said Gordon wants to come back and the Bulls want him back very badly. He also said Detroit will offer him 10 million a year and if the Bulls can offer somewhere in that area he will come back to the Bulls

OK Bulls, get it done!

A sign and trade is fine by me, but you can’t let one of your best players go for nothing!

by DRose01 on Jun 30, 2009 9:03 PM CDT reply actions

exactly

if you dont want him…fine…sign him still and trade him for a piece that works better….letting him go for nothing is just stupid….

On Behalf of Sue, Wjb, majoyenrac, Bullshooter and all the other Hinrich fans...Ill keep the Hinrich Hope coming...There will be light!

Have you guys not paid attention?

The Bulls won’t sign Gordon because of the luxury tax. In virtually any sign-and-trade, they’ll have to take back close to the value of Gordon’s contract. Since they are so close to the L.Tax, this will still put them over. Thus, they won’t do a sign-and-trade.

At least we'll know in a few hours if Chris Broussard is definitively full of shit

I’m fairly amazed that no one has thought to ask Gar Paxdorf if the Bulls would be making Ben an offer when the FA period opens.

That seems like a pretty straightforward question that even the most cowed and beaten of beat writers could be expected to get away with asking.

by Sports2 on Jun 30, 2009 9:07 PM CDT reply actions   1 recs

That's fine and dandy if he was a RFA

But he’s an UFA. We might not have a choice to react to a contract.

This is just a sign that they’re gonna be and wait to see what Detroit offers him instead of just offering him 10 mil a year.

by Edicus2288i on Jun 30, 2009 9:49 PM CDT up reply actions

I think that's what they're planning on

That ungrateful bastard wouldn’t give us the chance to match. He’s disloyal!

by Sports2 on Jun 30, 2009 9:52 PM CDT up reply actions

We were gonna offer him a huge 20 mil a year contract but

he didn’t let us finish our process, before he accepted Detroit’s offer.

by Edicus2288i on Jun 30, 2009 9:59 PM CDT up reply actions

so it's okay to offer Noc, a RFA

outrageous money, but not okay to negotiate with BG as an UFA? Geez.

by kingj41 on Jul 1, 2009 7:43 AM CDT up reply actions

This is why I say:

A) The Bulls value things other than basketball ability

and

B) they aren’t even that good at evaluating that

Meh...

The Bulls have tried to sign him twice…I think the writing is on the wall here, BG never wanted to sign here long term, the market will now set his value, as the Bulls management wanted, and they have no right to match the offer and we as fans can see if he made a mistake turning down the two offers from the Bulls.

Ultimately, no one wins…well, unless BG gets more than $10M per year…then propers to him for turning that down two years ago.

Well, we as fans already know

the Bulls made a mistake last summer. It looks like Ben will either win or it will be a draw. The Bulls will still have Deng.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

He wanted to sign here last summer

But the Bulls pulled there offer, if Ben gets a fair offer he will stay

by LoveForTheGame on Jul 1, 2009 12:24 AM CDT up reply actions

Ric Bucher just said the exact opposite on Sportscenter

He said he thinks BG will be the first player to sign with a new team. He said that Detroit wants him, and that Ben is looking for a reason to leave Chicago.

They're both always wrong, but Bucher has better league sources

If Ben is indeed headed to Detroit, he’ll know.

The Chicago Bulls.....the more profitable Los Angeles Clippers.

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 30, 2009 11:17 PM CDT up reply actions

Thats kind of odd

for him to say hes looking for a reason. I think he just wants to win and get the money he deserves but he’d know better than me. Still I dunno how good Bucher is actually with the players. I think Broussard is better as far as players go Bucher seems to be better at communicating with the men in suits.

by Camry on Jul 1, 2009 12:30 AM CDT up reply actions

But Buchers latest

on the situation seemed like he backed off and wasn’t as definitive. Just saying that the" offers" would be the first.

Turk to the Raptors?

That would be interesting. A lineup of Calderon, Turk, DeRozan, Bosh and Bargnani.

If they do pursue Turk then it looks like the Raptors plans are to try and stay competive and keep Bosh happy. Basically wait until he is a free agent and see what happens until then.

Portland trying to get Kidd? Mavericks pick it up and get Kidd signed! We don’t want the Blazers getting Kidd; we’ll lose our trading partner for Hinrich. But if Portland does get Kidd maybe we can work something out with the Mavs? No matter what happens with Gordon we need Kirk gone. He’s not a bad player but having him at SG or as a backup making 10 mil a year cripples our team for the future.

I read Chandler could be had for Wallace? We could have Chandler if we really wanted to then. The Bulls have the assests to be major player with the contracts of Miller, Thomas, and Salmons but will it happen? If Utah is forced to match a big contract offer to Millsap they will try and move Boozer. We can be that team that gives them cap relief. If the Suns trade for Chandler they can move Amare to us for cap relief and a player like TT. Will it happen….. I won’t lose sleep over it…… I thought the Bulls would make moves last year and they didn’t.

I'm sort of perplexed by the Raptors not making overtures to Ben

He seems like a really nice complement to Bosh to me. On the the off chance that DeRozan turns out to be good, they’d have all of their basic offensive bases covered with a slasher, and a big and a lights out shooter.

As it stands, the Raptors look to be one of the league’s worst shooting team going into next year.

by Sports2 on Jul 1, 2009 9:02 AM CDT up reply actions

I always thought that Ben would be killer

playing with Bosh or Howard. How about a sign and trade with DeRozan coming our way? Naw, I’m going to realize that the Bulls will lose Ben for nothing and our biggest move will be the signing of a veteran forward which we trade in February.

DeRozan isn't ready yet

so there’s no need to trade him now if they sign Ben

In that scenario I'm assuming that they use their cap room on Hedo

So they would need to sign and trade for Ben

and DeRozan would be one of the players that the Bulls should ask for.
