Around SBN: Yu Darvish Diagnosed With Mariners Fever

I thoroughly enjoyed this, especially using the quotes (via twitter) of Jennings himself.

When I read
‘Tiago Splitter, one of the best defensive centers in the world’

I kind choked on the water I was drinking…

Splitter is awesome.

One of those links from your Hansbrough piece had me drooling over getting him. If Asik can come close to him, the Bulls will be stacked at Center for years to come.

Is Splitter ever coming to the Spurs?

I don't know. I doubt it.

The Spurs screwed up by taking him in the first round. They should have traded back 3 spots to get him. He signed a 2-year extension last summer where he’s already making more money this past year and this coming year than he would for what he’s allowed to sign on the rookie scale.

So next summer, when he should be signing an even bigger contract, he’s going to take a smaller one to play in the NBA? He might, but who knows?

I still can't believe Portland convinced Rudy Fernandez to come

and play on the rookie scale.

Rudy obviously has an ego that Portland convinced him they could feed.*

And from what we’ve heard from their fans, they’ve certainly fulfilled their promise.

*Obviously, I’m guessing as to what was actually said or how they did it.

He has a nice Nike endorsement deal. I also wouldn’t be shocked if a relative now works at Nike.

I've got a buddy that plays in Portugal,

played in Italy a year, and tried out for several NBA teams. He keeps me in the loop of what players could make names for themselves. Unfortunately, he’s a very undersized SF.
I watch some Euroleague, and at times prefer to watch that style after watching some of the brutal NBA’s style of ball.
It’s hard for me to say that the Euroleague has the best in the world. Some of the plays there are boneheaded high school mistakes that make a player look better than what they are. I’m not saying he can’t play D, but to challenge NBA comp on a consistent basis… It’s very different from their league over the course of a full season.

His name Vincent Hamilton

And actually I haven’t talked to him in a while since he’s just gotten married and I just had my 1st kid. He’s from Lockport, IL. I only talk to him when he’s in town, so it’s been a while. And I’m not sure what team he’s signed with right now. At the time we last spoke he was considering taking a year off while he got married and settled in and he was gonna try to make an NBA roster after another year overseas. He said the odds are definitely stacked against him as he’d taken for granted the level of competition outside of the U.S. and had his eyes opened playing overseas.

I think he was on a team named Sangalhos

It’s not like I use to follow the Portuguese championship – if you think the D-League is bad, you definitely don’t want to watch this games -, but I am pretty sure that that team was not on the first division…

yeah, everytime I do a search

to try to see how he’s been doing, I only get spanish pages to view. The translators for Mozilla do a decent job though….

Wow!! Tiago Splitter.

Do you old school Bulls fans remember hearing this guys name about 6 or 7 years ago and how he was the teenage object of Jerry Krause’ affection?

Sounds like this is the way to go with Euro players though. Let them develop, then bring them over if you can…ala Luis Scola/Manu Ginobli, etc…

You know what would be cool?

Jennings and Rose together, Rose as SG.
I mean, it’ll never happen … but I like thinking about it. :P

Three things you must know:
-"Ben Gordon is a bundle of muscle and clutch. That's all he's made of. Drink BG7 energy drink, you'll grow a pair of balls on your balls."
-Pau Gasol: The defense of a seven foot ladder paired with the post presence of Manute Bol.
-Joakim Noah is better than you.

Nice playground backcourt

Sounds great for the Rucker league. Who will shoot though?

PoopsWorld Mock has Jennings going to the Bulls @ 16

http://www.hoopsworld.com/the_draft/FullMockDraft.asp

I guess we never know what is going to happen in the draft, but this mock draft has the potential to being the worst one I have seen hands down for most teams involved.

hmm, if that happened

and

williams at 26. terrance williams is one of my picks in this draft. those two would be great at those spots, and i’d have no worry about duplicating existing talent.
