What a shame. I just wonder if someone of that extreme size can come back from all those injuries.

That would really be unfortunate

if his career is really over. Great player, great guy and one of the league’s global ambassadors. I’m sure he has enough money to live on forever but I’d think he’ll remain in the league in some capacity. Houston owes him like $34M in the next two years, including an ETO that he’ll surely pick up but damn, wish I could’ve seen him play in person.

Yep. It was about this age, too. Late 20's. Hopefully, he can do something over the next year to get help keep himself heatlhy.

This age = that he started staying healthy.

Too bad he was force to play for China during his off seasons

and never gets a chance/choice to rest.

Everything I post is speculation. I have no insider information nor ideas deemed concrete enough by those who are self-elected to regulate post content.

Second coming of Ralph Samson.

At least Yao lasted longer than Jay Williams.

The Rockets have the three most unreliable players

That usually doesn’t translate to much success. Hopefully Yao gets better.

McGrady is a plague

first Grant Hill and now Yao. Trade McGrady and Yao will be healthy.

To me this says something about Shaq

He is bigger (not taller) and had (has) a long career at age 37 still playing pretty good ball. He takes a few games off but never had a career or season injury despite having to support the massive frame for so many years up and down a court hundreds of times every game.
Most big guys have shorter careers…. Yao unfortunately seems no exception.
